I am disappointed that the Spa charges the same fee for a simple entrance to the pool (40 Euros) although all the facilities are not available because they are under renovation. It seems to me that the Managers should offer a discount during the renovations if they wish to keep their clients.

Rooms could be definitely a little bigger. Service is quite poor. Officially a 4 star hotel - I would only give 3 stars max. breakfast not recommended - especially not for the 20 CHF!

There is a big pretty patio and with a great view of Geneva lake. We had some fish dishes, steak and desert for the party. All of them were great. The fish was fresh and the steak was tender enough. The chocolate cake we had was the bomb. It was not sweet but full of rich chocolate with every bite of it. If I have a chance to visit Geneva again and I will stop here again.

The Beau-Rivage was built in 1861, and 2 major peace treaties were signed here: the armistice ending the war between Italy and Turkey in 1912, and the Treaty of Lausanne in 1923. There are Michelin star restaurants in the hotel: PIC au Beau-Rivage Palace. Three other restaurants offer Japanese and Swiss cuisine. The ultra luxurious Guerlain Spa has indoor and outdoor swimming pools, 9 treatment rooms, 1 tennis court, 1 paddle court, and a golf practice area. It's also some additional steep steps away from downtown. Great for exercising, especially if you've been eating too much of the delicious pastries and chocolate you'll find all over town! :) The place has been around for a while but management has kept the hotel in a good overall condition. The rooms are modern and quite spacious for European standards. The staff is polite but I wouldn't say they're exceptional. They do their job and that's fine by me. There are a couple of restaurants in the premises but I didn't bother trying them as I think they're over priced and I'm not interested in the menu options. There are too many great restaurants nearby, too many nice bakeries, for me to be bothered with the options here. If anything, the restaurants look nice and seem to be busy most of the time. The rooms have free wi-fi, safe, cable, toiletries, a nice bathroom and some tea, coffee and hot chocolate alongside an electric cattle. For the affordable rates, great location and good rooms, I think this is one of the best places to stay in Lausanne. Definitely recommended!

The breakfast in the hotel was great, lots to choose from and the croissants were outstanding.
