So this review is strictly for the Artists Market. Tons of handcrafted goodies and so much to look at. Love seeing all the different items from artists. A truly unique gift will be found at the Artists Market! Some of the items included earnings, greeting cards, baby gifts, candles, soaps, and the list goes on and on. I myself found a beautiful pair of handmade earrings that I could not pass up. Staff was helpful and complimented my purchase with a comment of herself having to go check out the earrings, since they were just showcased. My purchase was wrapped up in pretty tissue paper. A must stop when visiting downtown Mackinac Island!

So apparently these two shops are sister stores! I visited both and bought items from both…read more The Artists Market had greeting cards, postcards, candles, lotions and lots of other great gifts and souvenirs. Great end-of-the-season sales. I bought 2 lotions made by "Twisted Tomboy". The lavender and vanilla scent smelled clean and fresh and not over powering. I also bought a birthday card. Would recommend. Little Luxuries was the larger of the two stores. They sold a lot of great smelling soaps, lotions, and other body products. There were sweat shirts, a few Christmas ornaments, tote bags and a slew of other interesting souvenirs and gifts. I came out with 2 very small hand lotions made by Lollia. They were the "At Last" fragrance which is unfortunately being discontinued.  Would definitely come again.

Having made baskets myself I know the work that goes into it and her baskets are not only beautiful, creative, and unique...but also priced well. It is absolutely beautiful to walk through the gallery, and the man on hand was so helpful and enjoyable to talk to. If you're in the area do eat at the Blue Moon Café either before or after and then cross the street to go to this gallery you will not be disappointed. I was also happy to get a Petoskey stone necklace as I may not get to find one myself. I bought a beautiful beach bowl. And there were so many beautiful pieces of wood. Eco died silk scarves and so much more... You have to see it to believe how beautiful this gallery is.

My wife and I shopped at the Teysen's Gifts on 7/16. We purchased a pair of Minnetonka slippers…read morefor myself and a Switchables night light combo for her. Together these items totaled over $107 dollars. THE BAD: While looking at the Switchables, an older, small framed female store associate with black glasses (I think) came up to us and said "May I HELP you?" in a very condescending tone. The reason for the tone was that we wanted to purchase the floor model Hummingbird ornament, and I was simply crouching down and looking in the cabinet below the Switchables display for the proper empty box, so that we would be appropriately charged. I explained to this unfriendly female associate what I was doing, and at that point she simply gave my wife and I a sour disapproving look and then brusquely brushed by us, making physical contact with my wife, and went through a door into a back office. Not once did she acknowledge or apologize for the "bump". If it wasn't for this last part, trust me - I wouldn't necessarily be on here sharing this. But I think that truly crossed the line of good store etiquette. I apologized for helping myself to the lower cabinet to look for the proper box, but in this day and age of ever increasing self-service, I didn't think I was necessarily being out of line. And for the record, my wife and I are middle-aged, decently dressed, middle class people - not your typical problematic customers. THE GOOD: In contrast, we had an EXCELLENT experience with Teysen associate Kelly, who assisted me with the slipper purchase, and encouraged us to go into the gift store to look for additional items in the first place. Kelly is definitely an asset to Teysen's, unlike how I perceive the older employee described above, based on our one encounter with her. EPILOGUE: I submitted this same information to the Teysen staff via their website on 7/16, but as of today 7/25 I have received no response. This post isn't meant to embarrass the store - but to inform them of a situation I'm sure they'd definitely want to know about.
