I mean if that's all your going to cook then it should at least taste good. No toppings for bagels either. I'm tempted to just never eat breakfast here and go spend my money on a restaurant. I mean I did pay for a bed and BREAKFAST. It's really making me consider other hotels on the island. I'd like to see more options and recipes.

We had a sitting room, king-sized bed, and whirlpool. Our private deck provided a view of Lake Huron. We only stayed one night so we only got to enjoy one breakfast. We had sausage, cheesy potatoes, fresh fruit and a cinnamon roll. It was wonderful. Seating is between 8-9:30am. A self-serve coffee/tea bar is available 24/7. As an added bonus, they serve dessert from 7-8pm nightly. We got to enjoy that one night as well. Dessert was a chocolate brownie topped with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate syrup, and caramel. Omg, it was so good. We really should have spilt one as they were huge. The place was in a great location. It was a short walk to the Mackinac Island ferry. We walked to a dinner spot. All the shops were only a short walk away. We got there early (before our room was ready) and they allowed us to park in their lot so we didn't have to pay for parking in the ferry lot. Finally, the staff was absolutely wonderful. So helpful. So welcoming. Whatever you needed, they were there for you. The place is spotless. The food is amazing. So glad we stayed.

THEY CHARGE OVER $500/NIGHT and the wifi service was basically airport wii. It is labeled as a bed and breakfast in the state of Michigan, also on the Island as well. I have worked in nursing homes for YEARS and never would I ever give my residents the same thing over and over again daily for breakfast. Every day when we stayed here we were met with the same spread: boiled eggs because having eggs more than one way is just too costly, fruit was set out and not presented nicely, milk was in cartons and the breakfast staff clearly did not care about the service they were giving. Bagels were frozen and then thawed, they had ready to eat oatmeal bowls where all you added was hot water. Our room had huge carpenter ants where we literally WOKE UP TO THEM CRAWLING ALL OVER US IN OUR BEDS We complained, and we were met with very hostile service. The only thing the management did was give the room a deep clean and when that happened the carpenter ants returned that same night. Room 311 is next to the noisest staircase in the whole building, I did follow up my stay with the better business bureau, contacted the health department as well as emailed the islands tourism bureau. Will never recommend this place to anyone and I wish the owner would stay in this bed and breakfast to see how horrible the quality is!!

The bedding (not just the mattresses but the sheets, pillows and blankets) are superb. Plenty of hot water! Actual bath TUBS! A million dollar view! And--no small thing--this is about the cleanest place I've ever been in. I don't know how they do it, really, but it sure makes up for the mini-doughnuts! Unlike many Mackinac establishments, their pricing is totally transparent and visible on their website. The number of breakfast options decrease when there are less guests. It is available 7 a.m - 10 a.m. The room was extremely clean and spacious but the space was not well designed. There was not a desk or table which is a big drawback for me. The shower is small. A larger person would find it difficult to use. The ironing board was horrible. It was a small one to use on the sink coulter with a leg that would stay up. It kept falling. All staff were very friendly.

BEWARE THE FOURTH FLOOR…read more The 1852 Grill Room was wonderful, the hotel is beautiful from the outside, the staff is fine - but the pictures they post of the bedrooms are NOT the bedrooms you will be staying in, especially on the fourth floor. I knew the room would be small but the pictures of my room were incredibly misleading and most importantly NOT the room me and my wife saw. The bathroom in the online photos had a glass door shower, our room had a dinky plastic liner. THE ROOF IS CONCRETE POPCORN AND VIOLENTLY SLANTED DIRECTLY ABOVE THE SLEEPING BED. It was physically difficult to get in and out of the bed, forcing any adult person (I'm only 5'7") to squat and crawl in and out of the bed. If I sat up in the middle of the night, I would literally would have been hospitalized from this idiotic ceiling/bed placement. Pics to prove it. Overall, our trip to Mackinac Island was wonderful but this hotel room was the worst part of it and the worst $800+ I have ever spent.
