We went to Dolphin Carpet and Tile, There was one car in the parking lot. We weren't sure it was open. We went in and there was one guy, Vince. Nice guy? He set us up for a measurement and took $100 deposit. After the measurement, Vince called us with a quote, $4,220 for approx. 500 sq ft. He would call us for scheduling within a week. Sounds good. . We found a higher quality carpet on their website. We went back to Dolphin Carpet and Tile. Same deal. One car in the parking lot. They had the upgraded carpet. Great. The quote went from $4200 to $5200 for under 500 square feet. We picked the best padding and the best carpet they had. We agreed. Get it right! We were all eager to get the ball rolling on the carpet job. We paid 1/2 of quote up front. Vince called back. Saturday, morning. They will call before they arrive. Great. We moved everything but the heaviest furniture. A husband and wife team showed up 9:00am. They made me sign and initial several agreements and pay the total $5220 before anything got started. That seemed shady. They laid the carpet on the road out front to measure and cut. Everything was going slow, but still ok until we noticed that they were measuring our couch and then splicing a 3ft by 3ft piece of carpet in the first room, which is our living room. We took pictures of the installer doing his splicing job and called Vince, and sent the picture. Vince's tune changed from that moment on. He treated me like I was stupid and didn't know anything about carpet installation. He didn't acknowledge the mistake of not bringing enough carpet. Their measurement was 3 feet short. After that conversation, Vince stopped communicating with me. I emailed him and told him I would haul the extra carpet, in my van, needed for completion ,without having an obvious patch in my living room. Silence. Vince has not responded to my requests for some sort of compensation for their mistake. No apology. No repair. No anything. They got the total $5220. We have an obvious patch in our living room. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! The tile selection is adequate (I was looking for tile for an investment property so I was not extremely picky with what I was looking for). The salesman (whom I will not write his name here but I will discuss with the manager) was the most demeaning and condescending man I've ever dealt with. I went against my gut and still ordered the tile from him. I was told a delivery date.. almost a week after it was due to be delivered and no communication, I called, only to be told that it was delayed for a few more weeks. Well, the new "delivery" date came and went, still no communication. I decided to go on Saturday to inquire and ultimately pick out a tile that was in stock. The sales guy didn't even want to show me, it took my husband to tell him that we wanted to see new tile. The sales guy reluctantly starting showing me options, he showed me a veiny and shiny (the tile that I ordered was not veiny and matte). When I said, politely that wasn't what I was looking for.. he was very sarcastic "oh, lets see if we can find one that's not veiny and not shiny, right?" I have been waiting for more than one month AND the tile that was ordered wasn't even the one I picked!!! I could deal with the misogyny as I know that's his problem to deal with, and not mine but then the lack of communication and just awful business ethics, was the WORST. They did outstanding job replacing existing flooring which was awful carpet and ugly tile with new Porcelain tile and vinyl for stairs. The process is wonderful as you pay for overall package: flooring and installation which other companies don't provide. So essentially it was a seamless process and not a hassle trying to find a reliable contractor. The installers were very professional and finished their work in time. For me the selection of tile is great but for a higher end client, they might find the selection as limited compared to other distributors. But overall very satisfied with the experience as well as the quality and craftsmanship of flooring. read more

With that being said,this place is fresh (yeah I used the word fresh,I'm old skool) the amount of variety and selection is enough to please everyone and at the same time.give you a little anxiety. My friend is redoing a bathroom and adding some backsplash to her kitchen. She had chosen some tile for her flooring and decided to continue with that color for her bathroom,they advised the coloring may be off a little but when we opened the box it was perfect. They have a wide variety of different flooring options and backsplashes, I could've been in there for hours but she knew exactly what color scheme she was going for and with the great customer service provided all went well and fairly quickly,especially since he pointed us in the right direction. I wondered a little and was so surprised to see all the laminate flooring options and the freaking awesome wood flooring colors from a white wash to grays to browns but to my surprise they were all tile. I am very happy with everything about my experience at Dolphin Carpet and Tile. I needed flooring for my new boutique and they were my first stop. Vince was the first sales person to assist me, and I was also helped by two other individuals on other visits. I went to them first, looked around at other stores, and went back to them. From their customer service, & selection of flooring, to their prices...they were the best. I was greeted each time I entered the store, and was helped without them being overbearing. They sold me what I needed and was best for my particular application and didn't try to up-sell me. Coming from the service industry customer service is a big one for me. Other stores didn't even acknowledge me when I entered which is a big no-no in my book. I purchased a beautiful waterproof vinyl flooring. It was installed in 2 days. I have gotten lots of compliments on the flooring already. It looks amazing! Note to Vince...we did end up buying a pull bar. It really does make it easier to install & get a nice tight fit especially when you get to the last one on row. I would recommend at least that especially for novice installer. My husband is a contractor that's installed many floors & was surprised when he said we didn't need one. Thanks to all the team at Dolphin Carpet for helping me make my boutique beautiful!!! I hired Dolphin tiles for remodeling floors. Signed the contact 01/18 and they told me they will start 01/20. Sales rep R estimated 6 days job. 2 days demolition, 4 days installation. We expected all job done by 01/27. Today is 02/09, job started 3 weeks ago and my House is mess due to never ending installation, they haven't move all debris from my yard. Sales rep stopped by last week and promised all issues will resolve and job will be completed next day. But since 6 days from his visit nothing touched yet. We paid all money upfront. I was a little worried walking in here due to some negative reviews I have seen, but being that it is the closest store to me I just dropped in one day after work and I must say, I wish I would of gone in sooner. I was greeted immediately by a Robert who was extremely helpful. He gave me a few samples which was super helpful and helped me make my final decision. Not the experience I was looking for. Normal sales rep behavior once they got you hooked and sell you the product they have no more time for any issues. Overall rude management. My floor is still lifting even after the installer has come out twice. The first time the installer came out and he literally but crazy glue on my floor. This is unacceptable. I have reached out to upper management and still no response. Stay away and do your research unless you want a lifting floor with no solution. The installer blames dolphin and dolphin blames the installer I will never recommend this place. read more

I will add another positive review for this South Dade tile store - to be precise, I mean this store and the people involved in our project. I can't speak to other stores or this large outfit in general. We purchased wood flooring for the parts of the first floor, the stairs, and entire second floor of our house. The salesman was very knowledgeable but also, we had a good idea of what we wanted. Assuming you select quality materials, the installation is the make or break on this type of renovation. Dolphin installers did a great job with the the first and second floors but we weren't ready to have the stairs done. Turns out we weren't ready for about 6 months. Not a problem. When we called back and gave the go-ahead, the install was done timely and professionally. The installer (I highly recommend Jose for the work) went above and beyond by crafting some custom baseboarding needed on the stairs landing. I would note that there are 4-5 cut pieces required for each stair step and they must fit exactly as there is no molding to cover mistakes. Very satisfied with the job. read more

Overall my carpet purchase went seamlessly. Since I was going to have an area carpet made the blend with another carpet, Vince Cuevas, my salesman & the Store Manager, gave me carpet samples & even one of their larger carpet sample boards to take home so that I could pick the best color. The carpet was ready & set up for delivery exactly when I was told it would be. The only reason I did not give them 5 Stars is that the communication between the store and the installation department seem to fall through the cracks. I had a very heavy table that needed to be moved off my existing carpet and then put back in place. This was discussed with Vince and it was made clear that it would require 2 installation people. Vince advised that he did, in fact, tell them that and they could not find any records of being told. It should have been written on my order. I'm not sure how the installation man did it, but he was able to move the table, install the carpet and then get the table put back in place with only a little help from me. My sister-in-law, who had also ordered a carpet which was being installed the same day, was not so lucky. She had to get someone from her building the help the installation man. Again, the need for 2 people to install should have been written on her order. Would I order from them again? The answer would be "yes". I would just make sure that any & all requirements would be written on the order. read more

NEVER use this place! We ordered our tile based on the collection presented on the display next to the entrance. There are examples of the different sizes with the same coordinated colors as they would look installed. Over $3k tile - the bathroom trim as displayed was simple and our taste. We picked up the sealed boxes of tile for our contractor who installed them as instructed. Imagine our surprise when we arrived home to a 'crackle glass' trim - granted the same color palette but NOT what we selected. We thought the trim had been dropped! We immediately went to the store where our salesman informed us that the display trim was discontinued and what we received was the replacement. And that 'crackle glass' is all the fashion! No refunds!! LESSON: Open ANY purchase before you leave the store or before the delivery driver leaves!!!! Do not buy from these folks - we should have realized as the store was empty on each visit. read more

This place was completely incompetent when it came to correctly installing our bamboo floors. First, they omitted putting a moister sealer down before installing the bamboo flooring which lead to black mold appearing throughout our home! Secondly, when presented with the problem they completely denied any responsibility and offered to tear out our floor and for 3,000.00, would put down the moisture sealer and had the further audacity to tell us they would try to find us a deal on new wood and we should not go with bamboo because it's a reed and will absorb moisture!! REALLY? Don't bother, complete waste of your time and money. YUK! read more

If you've read negative reviews about Dolphin Carpet & Time please read this first. I have to say that I was extremely apprehensive after all the negative reviews from other Yelpers but I want to caution Yelpers about relying too much on customers with sour grapes, lack of knowledge and unrealistic expectations. Maybe some are legitimate issues but my experience was very good and I want to pass that experience along to others. My salesperson Robert Cass at The Falls area store in Miami provides great information over the phone and prequalified my needs and explained finance terms extremely well. 2 weeks later I went to the store and he remembered me. After looking at some samples he helped me and my significant other determine which floors were best for our needs. I didn't have all the measurements but I had an idea so Robert worked out the prices and got us setup with finance very quickly and off we were. He said someone would call to come do final measurements. Like clockwork a representative called and setup a time and measures the house. I got a call from Robert about the measurements and made a quick adjustment and signed final costs via email. Shortly thereafter I got a call on the day they said they would call to confirm my appointment for the next day. Everything as expected. Installers came on a Friday and after a brief conversation they were installing floors and moving furniture. I followed the pre-installation instructions and it worked out great. The installers were friendly, courteous and professional while working quickly. On the next day a different crew came in and one of them was a supervisor. He inspected what had been done so far and corrected a few items without me saying a word. Then continued to finish upstairs and the stairs. I can't tell you how happy we are with Dolphin Carpet & Tile and I would say that on a commercial without getting paid. Sure, maybe if I didn't speak Spanish I might not have been able to communicate with the installers but hey, this is Miami...get along. read more

The salesmen at store is very good. They over promise and under deliver. As a first time homebuyer I was on a tight budget and needed to deliver on time for a move out. They were great through contract and promised a 4 day turnaround and an "all in contract" for removal and installation. They came to house and said no problem and no issues would come up. After demo, they told me to come to house immediately. Long story short, $3,200 more than quote and a 7 day delay on a four day job. I was required to change my entire move and incur additional charges from a landlord for lease extension. They promised to "make this right" and didn't. They told me to make arrangement with GC directly for overruns. They observed job, quoted me a full price that they knew was a financial stretch for me, and promised to work with me and GC for amicable resolution. I now have GC saying that Dolphin isn't paying him a penny more and harassing me for overage on a job that Dolphin misquoted and refuses to take responsibility for and assist at all as they require full payment up front. Taking advantage of first time home buyers and not taking responsibility for mistakes that they made is no way to run and grow a business. They will never receive a recommendation from me and I will never use them again. read more
