But they had baby chicks in! Also, they had green onions for planting that looked pretty good. I highly suggest you checkout the community board that's hung outside of the "main entrance." They have phone numbers and other info posted for things like border collie puppies, bales of hay, and horse shoe services for sale. Their hours are Monday-Friday 8:00-5:30PM with a lunch break from 12-1. Saturday 8:00AM-noon. Closed on Sunday. Check them out just south of Hobbs on the Eunice Highway.

I needed a place for my large dog, and she graciously answered all of my questions via text in a reasonable amount of time. This is BY FAR the most affordable place I have ever been to. In saying that, here are a few tips: Julianna is flexible, but try your best to drop off and pick up when you say you will if she is available. She cannot guarantee availability. Text before arriving there. Julianna prefers texting because she usually cannot hear on the phone when she's taking care of all the animals. Lol. For everyone's safety - with pets going in and out at various times - plus a busy street in front of their shop, Massey's keeps the front door locked... so text! Bring any and all food, treats, toys, and bedding you want your pet to have. My dog is healthy. Needs no medicine. She has no major behavioral issues, so I'm not sure how specialized this place may get... Venmo payments are accepted. Rates for my dog were $25 per day as of June 23, 2025. My dog stayed a total of 7 days (drop off 9 am on June 18 and picked up before 4:30 pm on June 24). Final notes - my dog LOVES Julianna. My girl didn't even get sad when I left. LOL. Guests are to stay up front. Once I left, the friendly pet-sitter placed my dog in her own separate kennel and allowed her "big yard" play time 2-3 times per day by herself. It may not be high end boarding or a luxury setting, but my dog came home happy, healthy, and with no issues.

I remember when the Lea County Humane Society north of town on Alabama Street. This is essentially what it transformed into. This large facility was very clean on August 24, 2024, when I popped in to see what was needed for a dog license. Turns out my new canine did not need a separate license since I recently had gotten her chipped and registered at our Hobbs address. Thanks to the friendly young female employee who explained all that to me because my vet office failed to mention that! Their kitten/cat adoption area was cute with fun climbing "trees" through glass partitions. When my daughters & I walked through the dog center--just out of curiosity-we saw so many beautiful dogs. Some were much louder than others. Their area was clean also. The shelter often needs volunteers to walk dogs at adoption events & at the nearby Humble Park. Their coordinator, Evelyn, does great work with social media for all of these events and more. Lol. It's usually because they have strange hours which I posted in the photos. I doubt I qualify for the low-cost spay/neuter program for canines and felines, but more people in Hobbs, NM really should take advantage of it. The strays are out of hand. Also, I really encourage them to continuously push how to report animals that look lost, etc. and how they accept intakes. It seems so simple, but they really need to publicize that.
