I was rushed to leave at 5:00 PM even though the store closes at 7:00 PM on weekdays. I was also charged more than the shelf price, and the label hadn't been updated. I've found expired products being sold as well. The new management needs to improve customer service, keep prices accurate, and remove expired items.

Indian Grocery is Indian grocery store located in shopping mall next to Planet Fitness and Floor…read moreand Décor at US 41 North of Edison Mall. Indian culture has always been something I wanted to explore. There is no better way to start or continue to learn about their culture then by experiencing their food. Food is something that bring us together no matter what nationality you are! I knew about Indian Grocery for many years but now all the stars are aligned and walked in to explore this store. We've eaten many dishes like Biryani, Tika Masala, Vindaloo, etc. at our Indian Restaurants. Today, we were focused on street food and snack. On our first visit on a Thursday afternoon, as we walked in, we saw a technician is fixing and working on a large refrigerator with the compressor on the floor. But other 5 large refrigerators are working fine! There is a small produce section available. It looks a little empty but they are expecting a delivery next day! They have a large selection of spices, flours, rice and other Indian dry goods. We picked up Khasta Kachori, Malai Kofta, Choley Bhatura and Chicken Vindaloo. At the checkout counter, we added 2 fresh Samosas. Khasta Kachori is a street food deep-fried and known for its crunchy shell and spiced filling inside. I consumed tea with Kachori but next time, I can use coriander chutney! I loved the spiciness but wife complained it is too hot! Fresh Samosa is filled with spices and peas. It is crunchy outside and soft inside. It is A+! Malai Kofta is cottage cheese and potato dumpling prepared in a mild spicy tomato gravy. We microwaved the Kofta and served over white rice and green peas for lunch. It is mildly spicy so my wife approved this dish! We have not tried the Choley Bhatura and Chicken Vindaloo yet! Will prepare for lunch next week! The Indian Grocery staff is friendly and warm! I'm sure we can pick some more items on our next visit. Another page in our Indian Culture and Food Exploration!

It is however, the place to go to get any gourmet food or snack you could think of: Cheese, salmon, dips, spreads, crackers, etc. At first glance, the store looks a bit small. There is also a large back room with clothing, knick knacks, souvenirs, and even more food. The owners were lovely. They helped my son who ran back and forth several tunes for snacks. Most of all we will be indebted to the owner for recommending what has become our favorite brand of pretzels, Dots. Now we buy Dots Pretzels by the pound online. So if you are looking for a little treat or souvenir when staying in Matlacha, make sure to stop at the Specialty Market.

If you are unfamiliar with the island, there are very few grocery stores you can shop at, so if you are actually on Captiva, this is your spot. There are more on Sanibel but that is a further drive. They also sell some merchandise, body items such as sunscreen and hats and then beer, wine, and liquor. We always stop here a few times while staying on the island. There are also fruits and vegetables as well as other cold items, pre made salads, dry stock items, such as breads, sauces, chips, etc. Something we always get is one of their sandwiches. They do make sandwiches to order as well using Boar Head items. For a small store, their wine and beer sections are very large. They even have a walk-in cooler so you can grab drinks cold already. We were able to find almost everything we were looking for or missed bringing with us. They welcomed us and said hello. The two guys we encountered were both very friendly and nice. We will continue to come here. It is convenient for where my family stays and we always run out of something such as bread or forget something. It is a perfect place to grab those last-minute items. I have even purchased some items here for gifts. If you are in the area I would definitely stop here for any last-minute items, you need.
