I checked out a number of shops in Duck and was sorely disappointed. Most shirts were $20+ and/or had really lame designs. This shop allows you to pick a shirt of any color, choose your design, and have it imprinted...all for $11! The process only takes a few minutes. I emailed them, expressing my interest in a few items. While I didn't expect a response until they were open, Fran invited me to stop by anyway (we had already departed the OBX). She was kind enough to process our order and ship it safely and securely to us. Again, all before they opened for the season! We were so very pleased with our purchases and the kind service. This continued today when Fran realized that they had charged us twice for our order, something I hadn't realized. She had issued a refund as soon as she learned about this and emailed me the receipt. Again, what an exceptional level of Customer service. We look forward to visiting Duck again and visiting with the good folks at Duck General Store in person!

A staffer with a silver bob followed me through the store but never said anything to me - not "let me know if I can help you" or "we're having a 20% sale!" (I knew about the sale because she told every single person who came in while I was there - except for me.) She didn't offer me a fitting room and when I was done, she immediately went in and grabbed the two items I had tried on but never asked "how did those fit?" (I hung both items back up neatly so it's not that i made a mess.) I didn't buy anything. In contrast, I got a lovely greeting at Donna Designs (and bought earrings), and struck up conversations with the staff at Outer Barks (bought a harness for my dog, and a T-shirt), as well as at Amity and Allie June (did not buy anything, but took their business card). I think I looked as well-dressed as the other customers at Barr-ee so maybe the staffer disliked my hat? My linen slacks? Too bad. I might've bought something but will not plan to be back. Have never before felt this level of suspicion in 20 years of coming to OBX. Left a bad taste in my mouth.

If your a fan of stores like World Market and Pier One, then you'll probably like this store, especially since the products are genuine, handmade, and more affordable. The store sells quality, well-made items gathered from around the world. The shop is family-owned (you might see their kiddos walking around the shop-even ready to help our customers!), and they find items for the store on their travels. People always compliment me on the pieces I pick up here that I use for home decor. It is never difficult to find something to buy here. My favorite purchases are some decorative giraffes, an elephant paperweight, an elephant picture holder, and a decorative pineapple. Find your next treasure here!

The walk into the grocery from the lot was clear of debris. The bakery area was mobbed on Easter Sunday. A birthday cake was ordered a few days in advance and ready for pick up. The woman confirmed that the writing was accurate and the cake colors correct. We did a half chocolate and half vanilla. The price was very fair at just under $40 for half sheet. Self checkout was utilized and flawless. When we got it to the beach house it was time for a party for my two children and two other family members celebrating birthdays in April. My daughter's fell on Easter Day, pretty cool. The cake was a huge hit. Both the chocolate and vanilla divine and moist. The buttercream frosting heaven. It also saved nicely the next day and tasted just as good. The Harris Teeter in Kitty Hawk is a store I would recommend, especially for their bakery department.
