Yay, I'm a fan.
Most of the stuff is cheap junk, or lower quality. But I do find some bargains. (see below) It's not, in general, a "close-out" place like Big Lots, but a small percentage of the merchandise is close-outs. Most of the stuff is new and intended to sell for $1.
Not all stores with "dollar" in their name have everything priced $1.00, but this does, everything is a dollar at Dollar Tree, except for a few things marked otherwise.
(Dollar General and Family Dollar are not "everything's a dollar".)
You have to be careful, because some things are rounded UP to a whole dollar, which makes them NOT a good deal.
Here are the kinds of things I usually get for $1 each:
"Rip It" brand energy drink.
180 plastic straws.
plastic forks/knives/spoons (pkgs of 48).
Snack foods, crackers, candy, trail-mix kind of stuff.
plastic sandwich bags, freezer bags, trash bags.
cheapy kitchen utensils.
coin-type or button-type batteries (CR-2032, etc)
condiments, spices,
certain muffin mixes.
AFTER-holiday markdowns: Christmas, Valentines, Easter, Halloween.
close out books.
notebooks, marble "composition" books, index cards, office supplies (pens, pencils, post-it like notes, scotch tape, etc.)
simple craft/coloring stuff for presents for small children/nieces/nephews.
