This is a pop-up salvage bin store event that is hugely popular with bargin hunters. Different stores (Target, Big Lots, Amazon, etc.) host their salvage bin event where they fill bins, shelves, and racks with salvaged goods, liquidation outlets goods, overstocked merchandise or customer's returns. Each store event offers different discounts and event policies.
I'm not sure which discount store(s) were participating in today's bin sale. This event was held in New Augusta close to 71st Street on Coffman Road in a now empty business from 10a - 3p. Everything was $5 since it was opening day.
Parking was a nightmare from the huge turnout. We stood outdoors in line for approximately 20 minutes waiting to enter as they had to limit the number of people in the area at a time. Everything happened in one room.
The policies were no outside trash or shopping bags, no wagons, carts, or buggy's of any kind indoors. No strollers of any size were allowed inside the event. The small area was practically shoulder-to- shoulder with excited power shoppers. You are given a shopping bag or trash bag upon entry to fill as you will. Next, browse large, mixed merchandise bins, clothing racks, and tables. When bag(s) are full, enter checkout lines at one of the folding tables. Credit cards ONLY; CASH NOT accepted. All sales are final with NO returns, so closely inspect your items.
I saw many baby items from baby clothes, toys, diapers, clothing for men, women and children, shoes, home decor, kitchen items, cookware, organizational items, bedding and bath merchandise, pillows and so much more. You are NOT allowed to try on any clothing, even over your own clothes. The idea is to move shoppers through as quickly as possible (10a-3p).
Remember, the bags will most likely be heavy, and no one is available to carry to your vehicle. So you might plan accordingly, especially if you have physical or distance limitations.
Many happy shoppers were proud of their $5 items as they walked past us in line. Complete bedding sets for $15-$25 seemed to be one of the bragging rites today, not to mention all the other $5 products purchased.
The staff was friendly and incredibly busy. Merchandise was clean and organized as well as could be expected with continuous browsing. read more
