Yes, you can get frozen pizza for cheaper at wal-mart, and their vegetarian options are lacking. But they have a lot of hard to find items for a reasonable price and the produce is actually fresh! The employees are as helpful as they can be, and it's nice having the extra help unloading groceries into the car. EDIT: I started working here in July of 2016! I really enjoy my job, but I will not be updating reviews now that I work here. My rating remains the same, since I posted it two years ago I see no reason to remove it. If Yelp would like to, I see no problem with that either :)

But what can you expect from the only grocer for 12-15 miles? I guess they can get away with being subpar, I know me and my family have been putting up with it for 20 years, until this past weekend. Now we will go the extra miles because they don't deserve our business, or yours frankly. My mom was born in Martin, just minutes away from Shelbyville, and me & my family have been coming back here for nearly 50 years, and for the past 20, we've had a cottage on the lake, so although we're not year rounders, we are pretty darn established. Walked into the Weicks this weekend take back returnables and buy beer & ice cream (both staples for a vacation home), and their bottle/can return machines were not working. After having a stock boy come and try to fiddle with it, he said to just take the returnables to the checkout, and we'd be taken care of there. Well, at the check out, we were refused, so we asked to speak to a manager, who didn't materialize for ~7 minutes and apologized for getting wrapped up in a 'convo' . After explaining our dilemma, her response to us was "I don't even know you", as if she did know us, then she would exchange our bottles for us or something. Or was it more of discrimination against 'out of towners'? Either way, not the way to keep customers of 20 years happy. We were told to come back the next day and speak with John, the owner, who immediately took the managers side without even hearing our side of the story. To me, how the cashier, manger & owner acted speaks volumes on the quality of what Weicks offers and what they think of outsiders. If they keep this up, they'll be going the way of nearly 2/3's of all the other establishments of Gun Lake, OUT OF BUSINESS. Additional comments from 8/2015 So I broke down and entered this place cuz I heard it had new owners. I REALLY wanted ice cream because it was so hot. Their ice cream freezer was DISGUSTING. There was an inch of ice and/frost on everything on the top 3 shelves. Nasty. I said something the the cashier on my way out, and he said the owners know about it. Apparently they didn't do anything about it after they found out.
