I'd completed 30 of the 60 miles when I realized that while gathering the presentation, I had accidentally left my grandson's dress shirt and khaki's at home. Knowing that my Peebles store 5119 would be on the way in Wallace, I continued on instead of turning around for his clothes. I didn't have my Peebles card but knew it only would take a minute to look it up at checkout. After selecting an appropriate outfit, the situation went downhill quickly, the next hour was unbelievably stressful for everyone within the store. The computer system was down and unable to access my account number. Sales Professional Ms. Terri called several times to Customer Care and Card Authorization and was told the account was accessible and to continue with the charge. Nothing worked, she tried everything while staying sweet and professional. Ms. Terri had assisted me the previous week in the shoe department and I thought she was a "breath of fresh air" because of her never-ending optimistic and cheerful demeanor. Store manager Jody Hoffman recognized our dilemma and realized how long we had been attempting to make the purchase to arrive at the Science Fair on time. Store manager Jody Hoffman jumped in and made many calls to corporate, the IT guy was actually in the back of the store but wasn't able to assist us. The system had been down for 2 days. Finally, after hearing that my grandson Mason would be unable to present his presentation if he didn't have the outfit, Store manager Jody Hoffman whipped out her personal Peebles card, swiped my purchase through and told me to "be safe" as I was now late and she knew he had to get dressed into the new outfit prior to setting up his booth. During this time Sales Professionals Sheri and Dotty assisted with the long line on both sides of the checkout cube and apologized politely to each customer for their wait. I will be back in Wallace today at 5 pm to reimburse Ms. Jody Hoffman the $42.00 she personally paid for Mason's outfit yesterday Thank you to the sweet and beyond the "call of duty" graciousness from Store manager Jody Hoffman, Sales Professional Ms. Terri, along with the assistance of Sales Professionals Ms. Sheri and Ms. Dotty at the Wallace NC Peebles Store. I made it to the school a mile from the store late but with Mason's clothes! I am overjoyed and beyond grateful to announce that Mason Batchelor won 1st Prize and his science presentation goes on to compete in the district competition for NC state participation!!! I would appreciate and expect someone to personally recognize these incredible representatives of Peebles. I will repost this to Yelp and to Facebook in order that others can see how an act of kindness has the ability to impact the life of a young man and his family in a huge way!! Merry Christmas!

Absolute incredible place with incredible people…read more When I describe this place to people I tell them that they have everything: New Doors and Windows, New and Used Men's, Women's, Teen's, Children's, and Babies Pants, Shirts, Dresses, Suits, under garments, Shoes, High Hills, Purses, Hats, and Toys. Great Value, prices are marked what they are based on bag sales. Which turn a 14.99 men's pants into about a dollar. Read the sign and you can save a LOT of money on Clothes. People travel a long way just for doors and windows because of their prices. This is the NUMBER ONE place I shop when I want to buy clothes. Most of ALL my dresses come from there and other clothes. While I don't have any children right now, but when I do, I have already decided that this is the FIRST store I will be shopping. Each room is based on an age group or sex. There is the first room - called the Baby Store, then next room is now the Men's Room, then Women's Room, then the rest is filled with NEW Windows. On the Outside of the store is tractor trailers FILLED with New Windows and Doors. I am a former employee, this store is one of, if not my favorite place I've ever worked. The owners have known me since I was a baby. The owners are my spiritual parents. They are a gift to me. I have had the privilege of going to their church for years and still visit, now being a co-intern pastor with my husband at our church. I believe, that the people that would seem to have "a bad comment" about this store normally either don't get their way - they don't get a price reduction when the price is already severely lowered already for the item, or they already have a negative attitude to begin with. Christ Family Mission is what it's name suggest, a Christ Centered Thrift Store. They are VERY Christ like, loving people.
