I've never been to the Tallahassee Flea Market but have driven past it many times without having the time to stop. I am glad I finally got to check it out, spending time perusing the mix of items for sale including baby bunny rabbits, automotive tires, antiques, clothing, shoes, housewares and more all while munching on exotic lychee fruits! Sweet! So what's not to like? So on a morning when the Flea Market should have been sprawling with vendors and customers, it was instead rather sparse on both accounts. There were way more empty vendor tables and stalls than there were occupied. Most of the vendors seemed to be long term Flea Market regulars that are like permanent fixtures there. So as I walked the entire Flea Market I wondered why there aren't more vendors, and hence probably more customers... I would return if I was looking for an "off the wall find." I did make some fresh vegetable purchases before leaving.

Where once was inferior quality oh, poor service and David Interiors, Winn-Dixie has done a turn around and have brought in great quality beef, they are doing a lot better with customer service and they have invested substantially and their remaining locations to make those stores attractive and inviting. One of my biggest complaints with Winn-Dixie was their meat department. For a supermarket that one's probably called itself the "beef people," Winn-Dixie made a decision to start purchasing inferior meat from outside of this country. It was never USDA graded and you could taste that it was not a good piece of meat. While Winn-Dixie still carries this substandard quality of meat, they're also putting an emphasis on carrying USDA graded Choice Cuts of beef. This makes all the difference in the world for me when purchasing my meat. I have found myself relying more and more on Winn-Dixie again. This particular location has good customer service and the company has done an upswing in the quality of their food. I would definitely recommend to visit here.

They used to be a 5 star for me but in the past year they really have lost some of that employee pride that shone through every interaction before. The best way to describe it is by saying that it is a "neighborhood store." It is not cookie cutter and doesn't appear to operate like the larger chains. The employees are a part of an ESOP (employee stock ownership plan) Food Giant's associates share a vested interest in helping the company to succeed. Food Giant Supermarkets operates 108 locations in eight southeastern states. The company's grocery stores comprise of several brands including Food Giant, Piggly Wiggly, Cost Plus, Pick 'n Save, Market Place, Sureway and Mad Butcher. Maybe you have heard some of these. I also noticed that these stores tend to be in smaller towns versus larger metropolitan areas. Thus, supporting this "neighborhood feel." This locations is medium to small in size. I don't think I could do a full grocery shop here, but I would definitely stop in to make a few purchases. I found the produce section to be a bit small and only have the basics as far as selection. I went one time looking for mint leaves and cilantro and didn't find either. There are pretty good deals on meat products. They also have a deli and bakery. There are some pre-cooked foods for purchase. Although I have not not personally tried the fried chicken, I've heard that it's really good. Food giant has early hours, a mobile app, accepts coupons and as weekly deals. It's definitely worth making a trip.
