I'm here to tell you Harris Teeter in Nexton must be the best one I've been to in SC, literally while it puts all other local grocery stores to shame. I wish I lived close and not off of Old Trolly. When I say it's huge, I mean it, I lived in Kansas City and Austin TX, I know big stores - hint Bucee's first gas station was 14 miles from my house. First of all, the location is easy to get in and out, ample parking and the main road right there. It's in a very safe section of town while inside and outside are extremely clean. Any one will pick up on that immediately walking in, which should put any customer at ease. The produce section ROCKS. I mean it. For instance, I've been hunting for watermelon radish for a long time at 3 other chains and nothing. Harris Teeter had, watermelon radish, dragon fruit, buddha fingers, Rambutan, fresh exotic (not dried) mushrooms and so on. Moreover, I inspected some raspberries and a few other things - no mold! Best produce besides a farmers market! Next, it looks as if they're experimenting taking a page out of midwestern stores' playbook. They have a bar here! Now being a single gentleman I often like meeting women at a grocery store - although I always find the attractive women have some sort of rock on their finger. But I'm seriously considering coming back when it's open, if it's a true bar and not just a wine, beer sampling area. Not that I don't love a good wine tasting but my imagination tells me I would enjoy the upper crust time of "fu-fu, bougie" women that I envision would be partaking here. I need to do more research but I love this idea for the greater Summerville area. While I didn't get any of their baked, seafoods, meats, salads, etc they have by far the best selection, excluding specialty butchers and fish mongers. Their fresh bread laced with rosemary and olive oil danced on the air while chocolate perfumed a few isles. I scanned over everything and cursed my diet b/c I could have really destroyed their food here. As for prices, it's probably just a bit higher than their competitors but I don't mind paying a little higher for a more robust selection. I mean, I saw things like phyllo cups, the newest fall items already being stocked in July, a wider selection of health foods and the list goes on and on. Finally the people here are extraordinary and go the extra mile. I asked where something was and the clerk took me too it. They didn't say "isle 4 by the bread" but nope they wanted to make sure I got what I needed. Moreover I don't have a card, No Problem! They gladly slid the store card in the reader to give me a discount! Come on... who else does that!? As far as grocery stores - this is where you want to go. The only thing lacking the variety of instore made food options and a place to dine. Granted, I came from Austin TX where we had HEB, literally 5 restaurants in the grocery store. Same for Hy-Vee in Overland Park KS. Those Midwest grocery stores - they have full dining experiences. What's next a movie theatre!? Ok, back to the point, here in Summerville, Harris Teeter is the king of grocery quantity, quality and customer service. Drop on by and check it out, but make sure your bank account can handle it.

You get what you pay for! and I get it! it is my fault not theirs but I also blame management for using poor quality ingredients and for the bait and switch factor. Had to throw most of the pizza to the trash, I should have not paid attention to what my friend said about the Monday pizza. About the only thing I like about this store is the bar with live music some days but makes me think what kind of wine am I getting. I first…read morestarted coming here in 2025 mainly for the produce section and to escape the "egg price war" I was running into at other supermarkets. Over time, we began bringing home more and more of our groceries from here. At first, we were a little apprehensive since some products are sourced internationally and the flavors can differ slightly from what we were used to. However, we quickly grew to appreciate the quality and unique taste of many of the items. The produce is consistently the freshest in Goose Creek, and the organic meats are excellent. We especially enjoy the eggs, milk, butter, coffee creamers, gourmet cookies, and sliced cakes. The savings have been significant for our household. We used to spend around $800 a month on groceries for the 2 of us... and now we average between $350-$400 -- without sacrificing quality. The employees are polite, efficient, and almost always smiling. Sundays after church can feel a bit chaotic, but for the most part, the store is orderly and clean. The only consistently busy area is the seasonal aisle (Aisle 3 -- the famous "Aldi Finds" section), where everyone is searching for special deals. It looks like a tornado went through it. Lol. There were a few frozen meals we tried that didn't quite match the flavor of their American counterparts, but overall the quality of ingredients feels cleaner and less processed. The parking lot is usually full -- a testament to how popular this location is. It's well-lit, conveniently located off St. James Avenue and just a few blocks from Highway 52, and always buzzing with people coming and going. Overall, Aldi has become our go-to grocery store. I buy all of my produce and meat at Aldi. Even with the few things that I was a hardcore name brander, Aldi has won me over with their store brands. This store reminds me of…read moreEuropean grocers, as you are encouraged to bring your own bags (otherwise, you must pay for bags) and my favorite- the bakery at the front of the store. Lidl's bakery doesn't have all the options of European grocery store bakeries, but it will do until my next international trip. The store also has a section called "The Midl of Lidl", which is similar to Aldi's "Aisle of Shame". This area has specials like home items, clothes, shoes, and holiday decor. You never know what you'll find there. You do not have to insert a quarter to "rent" the carts here, and a bonus is that they have the smaller grocery carts, which are my favorite since I'm only buying for my husband and I and not a big family. I recommend downloading the Lidl app and entering your phone number when shopping to save. Be aware that many sales at Lidl do require you to purchase a certain amount- for example, if chips are $2/5 on sale and you only want one bag, it is probably $2.99 and not $2.50 like some other stores do. Some of our favorite Lidl finds are the Tom Yum soup, the bakery baguettes, and Snack Day brand "All Dressed" potato chips. We have also had good experiences with the produce, and we pick up a different specialty cheese to try on every visit.

The outside is clean and enjoyable however the inside is a bit different. The floors could use some TLC while the shelves were sparse here and there, not fulling utilizing the space because they were out? I didn't see any employees walking around in case someone needed assistance. Inside they make the most of their space as the isles are a LOT closer that at a larger store. I think this is a good thing as it's smart. The produce was a little suspect as they appeared to be picked through the night before and was waiting for restock. Moreover, the produce was average to a smidge below average, depending on what the item was. As for the selection, it should go without saying, a smaller place yields a smaller selection. I was there to get multi-colored carrots and to walk around since this was new to me. I got one of the last two bags of carrots so it wasn't like I had a huge sample size. The bakery was hoe-hum to me. Nothing of great interest and I'm somewhat curious if they bake items on their own or have them shipped in. Regardless I wasn't interested in the selection. As for my stroll down the meat isle it seemed like the had a lot of the generic items to pick through as if they're competing with the "big blue building" that all of us know about. As for their other items, they have a plethora of oddities. Blow up field goal coolers, mobility trainers, just things I would never in a million years purchase. They do have seasonal items as well including blankets, snuggies, sports theme products and so on. However, I didn't see this carry over to specific products like Doritoes sponsored sports items. Just a small note, not that it ever mattered to me much. Overall, Lidl seems a lot like Aldi and perfectly fine for those who might be in a rush, need generic items or don't seem to need a vast selection of products. The employees here are very nice and I found most of what I needed. What they're not is a place where you need a hard-to-find item or an assortment of freshly make items. Everyone else in Summerville had the same idea because the store was PACKED. It is also authentic- It felt like I was back in a Japanese "kombini" or convenience store. This store doesn't have everything that a kombini has, but they have ALL THE SNACKS! They also have egg salad sandos, onigiri, and other fresh foods. You need to time your visit around when those items are restocked so you don't miss out. We arrived about an hour after the items were stocked and they were out of several things and almost out of others. I got an egg salad sando and it reminded me so much of Japan. The bread wasn't EXACTLY the same, but for $5.99 and not having to fly across the world, I'll take it. The onigiri tasted almost exactly like a Japanese kombini, although you do have to assemble it a little. I'll definitely be back, and I wish we could get another location in the Charleston area. Japanese culture is popular and fun, and I would love to see more businesses like this that are centered around other countries and cultures.

My kids of course had a great time and unlike, say, H&L they had helpful signs for every item explaining what it was and what it tasted like. Prices were fair and inline with my expectations and experiences. This isn't stuff being shipped from overseas in large quantities for mass distribution so I expect it to cost more than US equivalent. Incredibly clean, great staff, and the quality of the products is up there with the big chains. I highly recommend it and it will always be on my itinerary every time I'm in town.
