All the staff here are pleasant and wonderful. On my visit yesterday I got a bunch of school supplies from my friend who is teaching it in a poor North Philadelphia school. I got many items that didn't break the bank for $27. It would've been 50 at Staples. And due to the fact the kids always break or lose things I'd rather be paying the $27. Thank you dollar tree.

Only issue I had is that the second time I came into this store (I was coming from class so I still had my backpack on), the worker at the jewelry counter told me to put my bag down. I explained to him that I had my laptop in my bag and did not feel comfortable leaving it there. He proceeded to follow me around the store (not so subtle) as if I was going to steal something. I was very offended. There were other people in the store that had bags on and they were not accosted. So I can only assume I was being racially profiled. I ended up calling the store after I left and talking to the owner. She apologized profusely and I was satisfied with her apology.

They had an array of aisles of items that some would think were more than one dollar, but weren't. Anything you wanted, they had it. I came out with a big bag full one dollar treasures that l knew l could not find in the Dollar Tree stores. Everytime l come to Reading, this is one of my stops. The sales associates are always pleasant and there is never a time that you would leave this store empty handed. Check it out if you are in the area.

The Dollar Dream is somewhere in between. My wife was making a crock pot chicken recipe that called for Thyme which she did not have in the spice rack. So instead of waiting in line at Wal Mart for a bottle of spices, we went to the Dollar Dream. I think it's closer to us than Wal Mart too. Big parking lot right next to Pat's Pizza. Pretty big store too. Several aisles offering everything from baby food to potting soil. Party supplies to laundry detergent. Pet food to spices. Most of it a dollar. We found the Thyme she was looking for (for a dollar) and she also grabbed a can of chicken broth, also a dollar, "just in case". The place is really a cross between a dollar store and a convenience store. They have a lottery machine and sell cigarettes. They once had a frozen food section with TV dinners but now just offer milk, juices and teas in their refrigerated section. They sell ice, for a dollar a bag. Not a big bag but still, can't beat a bag of ice for a buck. They sell outdated Tastykake pies, much cheaper than fresh ones everywhere else. Not sure what is up with that. I am a fan of freshness so I would rather pay full price for a fresh pie. The guys working here seem friendly. Will stop here again, for whatever.

Most towns no longer have a place to get things like every day needs forcing one to find a big box store for those needs. I walk to this store couldn't be happier for the experience. Glad it's not like all the other stores that all look the same but have different names on their doors. I love the big glass windows at the storefront, the old fashioned ceilings and lighting, the wooden floors, the smell of an old building.... Yes, the prices are not that much different than anywhere else but it's hard to purchase the items that DEALS carry all in one store anywhere else. Frankly i always come here first as opposed to the sterile homogenized shopping experience of the new store types you find everywhere in suburbia. Really glad this place this here. I'd give DEALS 5 stars but I never give anybody 5 stars as it leaves no room for any improvement so 4 is the next best review. I would be incredibly disappointed if DEALS were to fold and be gone forever since these types of businesses have all but disappeared.
