Ollie's Bargain Outlet

Ollie's Bargain Outlet

(11 reviews)

I moved up to the Poconos from the LV last winter, and I used to go to the Ollies in Allentown all…read morethe time over the years I lived there, and I found a lot of nice items and super deals! Once a dog was hoop, for under 50 cents! Many brand name beauty items, great pet stuff, it's way better then one of Catasaqua Road, so I been dying to come in and look and finally was able to. First off, I will say the staff here is super friendly!! & to me that makes a store trip so much better! Even if you're not happy with anything or don't find what you want, having great, helpful, friendly employees makes the store shine over stores that may even be high end but nasty snobby employees. I wish this store tho had a bigger book selection, one in Allentown is huge, and since I was a teenager and first moved to PA, Ollies was my go to book spot! I did find a few books & some really awesome adult coloring books, so win there. Saw some great deals on many snacks and other food items. I myself, have never had an issue with old food from Ollie's, meaning it tasted bad. Many dates on things don't mean crap, have to be put on bc of laws. But so much has preservatives, and other junk that makes it last til the next ice age. I do wish the candy section was cheaper, was no real deal there. The drinks though!, great deals! Ollipops were half+ off! And got a 12pk too of glass Welch Juice bottles, and way cheaper then the regular stores. Loved that I found Nike Hoodies here!! Never seen Nike at Ollie's, other brands like Puma or Champion, never Nike. And the colors are beautiful, and not the leftover ugly colors or styles they get often. Found some nice beauty products; great deal on a higher priced recovery treatment hair product, low of $1.99! While online I saw super expensive! And reviews on this is great! So I will be back and hope to grab more for the family. So all in all, it's a decent store, not as big as some Ollie's. But also this isn't the overpopulated Allentown area, where stores are packed always everywhere. So they need to stock up. And like all stores, each will have deals and finds you won't find in others. And also have to go every so often to see what the new deals and items are. As it changes. Which I love. If your uppity or boujiee, this isn't for you. If you like a treasure hunt for deals and special finds, that are extras that didn't sell and others can't get rid of, then check out Ollie's. No matter what, you will atleast have very nice interactions with the staff. I will def be back. Before and after holidays are a great time too btw

Ollies has had inexpensive products come and go, year 'round & various displays. It is fun to see…read moreunexpected merchandise. Try your luck!

Olde Engine Works Market Place - China cabinet

If you've ever dreamed of uncovering the perfect vintage treasure, you're in the right place!…read moreAntique stores are big treasure chests. When one shops at them for home decor items, you are truly choosing a special way of creating a home that is all your own. Housed in a restored historic building prior to its present use, the Olde Engine Works began operating as a machine shop that built huge, steam-powered hoists (winches) used mainly for lumbering and quarrying in 1903, located on 3rd Street in Stroudsburg. Since 1993, it's been an indoor antique establishment of nearly 22,000 sq ft with 100 vendors offering the finest selection of collectibles, furniture, and treasures in all of the Poconos, where my partner, his sister, and I came today. Upon entering this spacious, well-maintained, and carefully organized interior as first-timers, it was like stepping into a time machine powered by vintage lamps, antique knick-knacks, and furniture. Some booths were a little tight to walk through, but not bad. There is so much stuff to see one could literally spend several hours in there. We left satisfied with a china cabinet and solid round table. Prices were very reasonable. The staff was friendly and helpful. We can recommend this place.

As far as the market itself, be prepared to go through plenty of booths laid out along long aisles. The staff roams around to help and you can also ask for help with locked up items at the front transaction area. Everyone was very pleasant to deal with and helpful. Some booth's are cluttered and could use a lot of organization, but others were nicely laid out. It took an hour and a half to snake around the entire building. There was a mix of: memorabilia, nostalgic stuff, lots of glass sets and dishware sets, jewelry, books, magazines, records, CD's, videos, console video games, some sports collectibles and seasonal items. I could go on and on. I found an old Matchbox truck I had been looking for that was cheaper than Ebay prices and a couple old Sega games for my Genesis console that were in working condition. The wife was loving some of the old jewelry, but passed. I was surprised at the asking price for certain things I thought of as "junk" back when I was younger ..... but then I'm reminded of the saying - things are only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for them. I thought it was a fun time to chat with the wife, literally walk down memory lane and pass some time before we went into town to grab some lunch.
