We wanted to purchase 2 bottles of wine and were denied the ability to purchase because I didn't have a "physical copy" of my ID on hand. However I did have a picture of my ID verifying my age to show I'm well over 21. (He is Filipino and I am African American). This is a case of discriminatory harassment based on our ethnicities as to why we weren't able to complete our purchase. The assistant manager, sales manager, and front end U scan attendant were extremely rude and caused a scene in front of the entire store. The behavior was extremely rude and considered harassment how the situation was handled. The assistant manager even confirmed that he wouldn't assist us in completing the purchase because it was "against store policy." This was later rephrased to, "she's not comfortable selling to you and nor will I." The front end U scan attendant then shouted at my boyfriend when he tried to make the purchase at a different checkout aisle, "I SAW YOU TRY TO GO THROUGH SELF CHECKOUT AND MY ASSOCIATE REFUSED TO SELL YOU THE WINE. SO YOU AREN'T GOING TO GO THROUGH MY LINE!" My boyfriend then placed the bottles down and left the store. Clinchfield Food City management needs to trained on discrimination policies and how to better assist their customers. We would like a formal apology for the behavior as it is unacceptable and has put a bad taste in our mouths with the company image that is Food City. For the record, we did get wine from a lovely liquor store up the street that was more than happy to sell us two bottles so we could enjoy our evening. My ID was not an issue at this establishment either. DO NOT GO TO THIS FOOD CITY IF YOU ARE A MINORITY!

When I called to complain, I was told that they would talk to the person who shopped for me. There was no offer to replace the ruined items. When I asked about replacement, they said to drive back to the store and see customer service! I shopped here because in the past, they were the go to local store for lactose free items and keto items. Lately, they don't have much in the form of lactose free dairy items. Less than 5 minutes I got a return call letting me know that they have the same box available as the customer would not be picking up till 4:00 pm later that day. No worries, the owner was so patient and calmly explained how to reach his shop. Great customer service and again, the quality of the meat was exceptional and of a better quality. They also have farm-fresh buttermilk and butter that is fantastic. Reasonable prices and the husband and wife that own/run the store are really nice and accommodating.
