I don't know why I still go there. I normally go before 7am, and I get in and out fast. I am very efficient and use self-checkout. Today, I go in around 11:15. I was ready to check out. They had 2 staffed lanes with lines. There are 6 self-checkout stations - 2 had people finishing up. There was NO ONE waiting to use self-checkout, There were several available stations. The dummie working self-checkout would not allow me to check out because I had like 24 items and there was an arbitrary 20 item limit. I was forced into a line. I chose the lane with someone with less items than the other lane, but that ended up being a mistake. Of course, it was someone with no social life whose big social outing for the week was chatting with her cashier buddy. She bagged her items inconsiderately slow and was looking at the circular with the cashier. She had less than 20 items - yet took forever. Why not force people with less than 20 items to use self-checkout since they have 3x as many stations open? All the time I stand there, I watch the EMPTY self-checkout area. I guarantee if allowed to use self-checkout, I would have been GONE before that woman got around to paying. A store should do its best to get people checked out as efficiently as possible. The store had SIX self-checkout stations and TWO staffed lanes. They put an arbitrary number of items on the self-checkouts. How about hire someone with a brain, who can let people with more items use those when they are empty? It is not rocket science. They forced me to stand and endure some dumb conversation and someone who has obvious mental challenges fulling bags. I did speak to the manager, but given the filthy overpriced dump it is, I do not expect action. I only go there for certain items. I get better prices at other places so rarely have a huge order.

Today was the first time I'd seen her working an actual cash register, which might explain why there was a supervisor there with her. What offended me was how she immediately grew impatient and talked down to me as though I didn't know what I was doing when the credit card machine refused to read my card properly. The cashier --- who doesn't look a day over 16 --- assumed it was my error and started barking orders at me, even though I was doing everything according to the instructions. She even went so far as to try to yank my credit card from me. Mind you, I'm 64 and this wasn't my first time operating a retail credit card machine. in fact, I've worked in retail using them. So, to have a teenage brat talk down her nose to me was over the line. And her supervisor was no better, noticeably avoiding me after that exchange, till the very last second as I departed when he finally looked up and muttered an awkward "goodbye" or something of the sort. I didn't report her, as I could have. But another incident like that and I won't hesitate to make a scene.

Staff were very friendly, and the staff over at the bakery section were more than happy to provide the favorites! Cashiers could be more friendlier - the young individual that we had to deal with was more focused on having a conversation and never greeted us - so weird.
