Also - There's several vehicles that are parked near the entrance. Probably dropping or picking someone up. Still - It beats the usual WalMart parking lot. The store itself is laid out oddly. Took a little getting use to and it doesn't have that much space to navigate, but I was able to find everything I was looking for and more. I believe there was one checkout lane with a cashier. The rest were self checkout. The self out is very limited in space so I probably wouldn't recommend doing a WHOLE shopping trip here, but to grab a few items to get in and out isn't so bad.

I went in, the isles were well laid out, I got exactly what I needed and headed to the checkout. I was making great time with a great experience...and then I had to wait in this very long line to checkout...ho-hum. OH SNAP! That ho-hum moment didn't last long...maybe a minute passed and another checkout lane opened up and I was outta there! Awesome...thank you! In general, I was happy with how well-stocked everything was compared to other stores. The staff was friendly and apologetic for the wait. There is a huge parking lot shared by the rest of the shopping center. Note: The only drawback about Dollar Tree is that the only gift cards that are sold here are for Dollar Tree. When you are gift buying and want to add a gift card (that is not Dollar Tree), keep this in mind.

Getting in and out of the parking lot can be dangerous- and be careful while driving in the lot- people don't look and go the wrong way in front of McD's (it's a divided entrance with a median). The store itself is fine, It's almost always busy and they have a hard time keeping up with recovery- BUT they do get product out on the shelves. So- there is product, but it's not well kept. I usually can find what I need here. Some other locations seem to run out of things more often. Cashiers are good- I actually ran in for cards and a "get well" balloon and was so out of it (stressed over my husband in the hospital) that I almost left without my change- and I paid for $2 worth of cards and balloons with a $20- the cashier caught me, and I so appreciate the honesty. I know there are probably cameras on them too- but I know all to well some would just pocket it. This is a 3 star store that won an extra star just with the kindness of the cashier. I needed that little bit of kindness that day.

I visited the store on Merrill Road in Jacksonville, Florida and encountered extremely rude and unprofessional behavior from Tracy, the store's Assistant Manager. During my visit, Tracy was dismissive and disrespectful in her interactions with me. When I sought assistance, instead of providing help, she spoke to me in a condescending tone and appeared unwilling to address my concerns. This behavior was unacceptable and does not reflect the level of customer service I expect from Big Lots. As a loyal customer of Big Lots for over a decade, I have always appreciated the quality of your products and the convenience of your stores. However, this recent experience has left me deeply disappointed and reconsidering my future patronage. The Big Lots store on Merrill Road needs new management.

Like many of the Dollar Tree's in the Jacksonville Metropolitan-area, the store is well-stocked, clean, and organized. Unfortunately, minus the cashier who served me, the staff did not particularly seem it had a focus on customer-service. It got to the point where only the cashier was serving customers. As the line grew to approximately 10 customers, the manager only looked on and was not supportive to their cashier. When another customer asked if an additional register would be opening, the manager responded with "In a few minutes another cashier will be opening up a line." The way it was said was very disrespectful to everyone within range of their voice. As I was being served, the second cashier began their work on serving customers. Again, the manager just looked on. It created a bad picture! Once more, the cashier who served me was nice and went with the flow of pace of the business. I might visit the store in the future, but not for awhile.
