It really is a good spot to buy your boozes if you want something other than Mad Dog 20/20. Matter of fact they are one of the few places that you can purchase Guinness in McIntosh County. The Darien Pig while bigger usually does not have Guinness. All the employees here are friendly and always willing to help you find what you need. You usually don't have to wait in line very long and they bag your groceries with a smile. The laid back coastal attitude can be felt here. Prices are a little high at this Pig. The do have a monopoly on the market. The only other store around is Dollar General. Make sure to get a PFC card. One other big tip, you might want to give the Pig a call before you head up to buy groceries if it's after 9 p.m. Over the years the Pig's hours have changed. I'm not sure how late they stay open these days. During the Christmas season this Piggly Wiggly always has great deals on Christmas trees.

I was in Jekyll Island for a conference and we had candy at our trait booth. The attendees ate all of the candy the very first day and I needed to run out to the grocery store and buy more. I chose the Harris Teeter on Saint Simons because it was a familiar brand. I ended up getting a foot-long sub and had half for dinner that night and then saved the other half for another evening. I randomly was driving around the island and went to the Jekyll Island club, which was absolutely gorgeous. I went back the next day with my leftover sub from the hotel refrigerator and had a picnic under the beautiful several hundred years old white oak trees. It was such a special moment that I had to take pictures. It was an ideal picnic.

Unlike any of it's predecessors, they have Boar's Head deli meats. They have a hot bar with stuff like fried chicken, fried pork chops, mac & cheese. Apparently the offerings change daily but there's a schedule (ie fried fish on Fridays). Customer Service As usual, the customer service was top notch. The deli attendant made a mistake and sliced nearly 2.5 lbs of turkey instead of a quarter pound (0.25) and one night when I ventured in, someone from the deli had dished up portions of food and priced them without labeling the contents so the staff had no way of knowing if the containers contained sweet potato casserole, mac n cheese or what - but we all gotta give people grace in this day of struggle staffing. Overall I hope these guys stick around. They also own The Market (restaurant and seafood market).

Some of the prices are a bit high compared to competitors but shop local!!! The prices are fine when you factor in the convenience of location. The parking lot was completely done along with the interior. It's clean, modern and well organized. When it was BiLo it felt horribly crowded. Welcome to Darien because this store makes our tiny town look good!

I grabbed a can of iced tea from the cooler, checked out quickly, and headed back to my campervan. I decided not to eat while driving since those seeds tend to scatter everywhere, so I sat at the table and enjoyed my lunch properly. Absolutely delicious. I was looking for something comparable to Hawaii's Foodland or Safeway, and Publix is the place to be here. Publix has everything that you could ever need - from groceries, produce, self-care items, kitchen items, medicine, deli, bakery, meat, and seafood! I most enjoy their BOGO deals and their 3 for $10 strawberries. Though they are pricier than other stores, I still enjoy shopping here due to the wide selection of items to choose from. Their produce is fresh and their bakery and deli are phenomenal! They also have a wide variety of Boar's Head meat and cheese items, which they also use for their deli sandwiches. Workers here are friendly, always checking in if you are looking for something in particular - maybe because I always seem to look lost because I just keep on browsing for items. They also have an app where you can build your shopping list throughout the week and shows you which aisle to get your items from. This elevates my shopping experience as navigating through a store you're unfamiliar with can be daunting at times. You can also check their weekly deals, clip coupons, and pay for your items, all via the app! Although I wish they post all of their store prices on the app - otherwise, I have no further complaints. My favorites here are their Publix Brand Lemonade, Sweet Tea, and their bakery items - especially their Mango Key Lime Pie!

I usually make the drive to Harris teeters or Walmart or Publix because Winn Dixie won't clean up their store including the meat and produce! It's too bad because I live within walking distance of Winn Dixie.
