My husband and i pulled up at 6:45 pm tonight and people were coming out of the store. There was a sign on door that said we are closing at 7PM tonight. Before we could get in store a woman employee stopped us said they were closing "they have had people in store all day". We drove 55 miles to shop and they were closing 3 hours early? Plus it was not even 7 PM! People were pulling up and being turned away. I want to know why during a clearance sale they would do such a thing???? This is unacceptable. We havent been to dollar general in some time and now this?

I love saving those pennies. This one is located in a busy area and many stores/restaurants around. Parking was plentiful. We were visiting the area and needed some travel essentials. I noticed this one was pretty disheveled compared to others I've been to. There were items strewn all over the aisles; it was as if it was after a black Friday sale and people came and tore up the place. However, when we went it wasn't that busy. The cashier was friendly and we were able to get our essential travel items. In the end, we got what we needed and I'm a fan of DG; even though some were more messy than others.

If you had dropped me in the middle of this store, I probably could have just as easily assumed I…read morewas back in a the other "dollar" type store in a different part of the Capital District (keep in mind all those stores have the same parent company). At least in terms of comparison with my earlier shopping, the word here is "slightly" ... slightly smaller store, slightly better prices on groceries, slightly more cluttered, slightly more stickers glued to the floor (why???). It's still a reasonable store to visit for a quick shopping trip for basics, if you aren't worried about a few cents per item difference, or as much variety as in a larger store.

When I first stepped through the door it was clear that a lot of thought had gone into its layout, and I was immediately greeted by their staff. I don't know what it is about Dollar Generals, but they always seem to have the happiest staff on board. The prices are about what you'd expect, completely within reach with the usual combination of "This is insanely cheap" and "A dollar is expensive for this item." Nothing more than what you'd expect from a place like this, and certainly nothing to complain about when you consider all of the great deals they provide. If you're in the area and need to pick up cheap drinks or other basic supplies for your home, stop in and save a bundle.
