If there is something you are looking for don't hesitate to ask. The back room is more like a traditional thrift store with furniture, art, home goods, and collectibles. One hundred percent of the proceeds from this store benefits the Angels of Hope Outreach Ministries, a Christian charity with the mission to end homelessness in the Treasure Coast. You can volunteer with them or donate items to this thrift store. The store generates money for the charity but it also offers lost cost items to the community. Some of the items I saw were socks, pantry food items, toys, new power banks for only $3, clothes, and home goods. Prices were inexpensive and the people working were very friendly. I love how this store is helping the community while helping others stretch their budget. Check them out if you are in the area.

A small museum with some beautiful artwork and an interesting story…read more While visiting Fort Pierce, we decided to stop at the A.E. Backus Museum & Gallery and found it to be a very nice museum with an interesting story behind the artist. Admission was only $5 per person during our visit, and there is a parking lot directly in front of the museum, so parking and getting inside were both easy. The museum is all on one floor and is not particularly large, but there is quite a bit to see. The staff was very friendly and took the time to explain the layout of the museum, the different areas depicting parts of A.E. Backus's life and career, the artwork that was for sale, and the gift shop. There are numerous signs inside stating that photography is not allowed, so keep that in mind during your visit. One thing I would definitely recommend is watching the approximately 20-minute movie about Backus. It does a very good job of explaining his life, his attitude toward art, his work, and particularly his willingness to encourage and help other artists. I especially enjoyed learning about his relationship with and support of the group of African American artists who became known as the Florida Highwaymen. Backus was an excellent Florida landscape artist, but I found the story of how he helped and encouraged others to be just as interesting as his artwork. We enjoyed looking at the paintings and learning more about both him and Florida art history. Before you leave, make sure you also take a walk around the outside of the building because there is additional artwork there that would be easy to miss. Overall, this is a very nice small museum, reasonably priced, and well worth a visit while you are in Fort Pierce. Enjoy!

I happened to be working out nearby, realized I'd driven past this market countless times, and figured it was the perfect opportunity to stop in. As soon as I walked inside, I spotted a freezer right by the register packed with Asia ice creams I'd never seen before. There were so many unique flavors that it was honestly hard not to grab one of everything. I ended up picking a nice variety, and I can't wait to work my way through them at home. The man behind the counter was incredibly friendly, and we chatted for a few minutes. I asked him which flavor was his favorite, and without hesitation he recommended the mango and the strawberry. Coincidentally, those were the two I was most excited to try as well. I didn't spend much time browsing the rest of the store because I was completely focused on my ice cream haul and getting it home before it melted. From what I did see, though, they seemed to have a great selection of Asian groceries and specialty products. I'll definitely be back to explore the aisles on another visit. It's always fun discovering foods from other cultures and trying something different. Experiences like this are a nice reminder that there's a whole world of flavors beyond the everyday foods most of us are used to.

But I was pleasantly surprised about the variety of well-priced products, produce, and an excellent floral department with gorgeous bouquets (even a pre-made diaper cake for a girl - I never saw that before). Their bakery department was pretty nice and varied with well-priced, delectable sweets as well. They have a nice spread of products throughout and their check-out people were so nice and friendly. I docked a star because I absolutely hate when an aisle hs two labels for products (very beginning and very end) because it makes it confusing to find things. This wasted my time yesterday and earlier today. But I like this location and would be happy to return.
