I've been with this bank since 1986 when they purchased Continental Federal. They were always great up until recently. They used have great rates, friendly service, I used to have relationships with their bank managers in Brooklyn and Strongsville, OH to the point where they'd call me to tell me to tell me about about great rates and CD's Now...not so much. I usually transfer from savings to checking to pay bills due to low interest in checking accounts. Up until recently it was 3 transfers or withdrawals per month. I usually don't use that many. This last month I made 3 transfers to pay bills and they charged me 10 bucks for the 3rd transfer. When I called the Brunswick branch to inquire why it changed I was told it was always like that. I asked about the 10 dollar fee and was told 'Sorry nothing I can do about it. Maybe call one of the higher ups' I've been slowly moving money over the last few years dues to things like this and poor savings rates. I told them to enjoy the 10 bucks. It will cost you more in the long run with dwindling accounts Time to consider other saving and account options read more

I sold my condo to someone who was using Dollar Bank as their lender. Dollar Bank is terribly slow with their processes. We were contracted to close on a specific day but they kept pushing back the date. I did everything I was supposed to do and the Title Company was ready to close but Dollar Bank was not. They were really slow about responding to phone calls and providing necessary information that is holding up the process. For being a small bank their lending department is sub-par at best. I live fairly close to this bank and my parents use dollar bank, which is basically the reason I use them. I have been with this bank for about 8 years or so and have never had a problem with them! I love their free checking and I have a savings account with them as well. Their home equity is awesome too- fixed interest rate of 3.25%. This particular branch has very helpful and friendly employees. They have a drive thru and it is always quick and easy. They will even give your dog a treat if they are in the car :). I've also never experienced long lines in this branch which is always nice! read more

My checking account was overdrafted for the first time in about a year by 2 cents literally. I was charged a overdraft fee immediately of 36 dollars. Before the fee occured i had put money into the account but it didnt clear yet so i called account services and was on hold for 40 minutes to be told based on my relationship and time with the bank (I've been with them for 5 years) they would not take the fee away. For literally 2 cents. I owed them 36 dollars with an half hour. I will be switching banks. I strongly suggest that you do not open an account with them. But on the bright side I called the branch I had opened the account with and they were more than happy to take the fee away due to the circumstances. Account services for this bank are not helpful. their technology is so old. With my citizens bank and PNC bank accounts it takes 1-60 min max with dollar it can take 3-4 days and they will not even provide an update. I had to send money for my mortgage online and have been on the phone for 2 hours with 4 agents. They try but every agent gave me a different solution. We have been loyal Dollar Bank customers for over 25 years and have been reasonably pleased with them up until about 3 years ago or when the on line banking systems started. First, their on line mobile app is terrible! It constantly freezes and shows errors. I can use it on my iPad fairly well, but the iPhone app is really bad. Also, the on line system has trouble recognizing simple checks if they don't look like a typical check. So I end up having to drive out to their physical site just to deposit my checks. The Zelle program they use is also horrible. We were recently issued a settlement claim check that our insurance company tried to send us via Zelle. Dollar Bank's system kept denying the check! Imagine that! We are trying to give them an $8000.00 deposit and it won't allow it! Then the insurance company tried to send it via Visa Direct...also denied. Our insurance company said they have NEVER had either type of transaction be DENIED by a bank! Well Dollar Bank..be proud that you are their first! The insurance company needed up having to send us a paper check via snail mail even after repeated calls and emails to Dollar Bank and multiple attempts at the transaction. We have decided to cut ties with them for good as this was the last straw. If you are in the market for a new bank...run...don't walk..away from Dollar Bank. read more

When this happens.. customers are unable to access their own funds through their debit card transactions and unable to access their online banking. This bank denied me my own funds while I was traveling on vacation because their system was down as per their own card services representative. This bank has absolutely no customer service or technology that's anywhere near current. The banking mobile deposit never works glitches and shuts down the app constantly, the bank closes before anyone in the real world gets off of work and doesn't open before work starts is completely inaccessible and has no real perks to make up for it. Dollar Bank is severely lacking in customer service. My husband and I have spent hours going through calls with their customer service department. Their agents are completely unwilling to help their customers. As someone who has worked professionally in the field of customer service, handling de-escalations, Dollar Bank has the worst customer service department I have ever dealt with. For example, my husband and I were putting down $50,000 on our mortgage as a lump sum downpayment and Dollar Bank monkeyed us around until the payment could not be processed until the next month. Despite our appeal to numerous supervisors and many phone calls, this cost my husband and I hundreds of additional dollars in interest. This is only one example of many headache-producing phone calls which went nowhere with Dollar Bank. If Dollar Bank wants to thrive and have any chance of a future, they should rethink the meaning of "customer service." If you like a bank that fees you for every little thing, shows no gratitude or loyalty to their loyal customers, and treats you with disrespect, then Dollar Bank is your bank. Been a customer for about 10+ years and the past week and a half has proven that I need to switch banks asap and that it's worth the hassle of switching over any automatic withdraws I have going. I was awaken on a Tuesday morning to a fraud alert for several transactions totaling $150. I jumped up immediately to talk to card services, verified my information, confirmed it was fraud and the representative immediately cancelled my card and ordered another one. It was further explained that I would need to contact my branch to get my refund and that it should take about 2 business days. Ok, Great! I contact my branch and the person says "I don't know why they told you to call us. You need to call card services back." I call the 800 number back and was told that an investigation was going to be opened and a provisional credit would be issued. Ok, Fine! By Friday, I still hadn't received the credit. Called the 800 number and the Rep explained AGAIN, that I needed to contact my branch. This time, I physically went in to the branch and the young lady I spoke with said, "unfortunately, they give misinformation but you really should speak to someone at card services." Imagine my irritation at this point. I went out to my car and sat right in Dollar Bank's parking lot to call card services yet AGAIN! This time I received a gentleman with a little bit of attitude. I explained my situation, expressed my frustration and he replied with "the investigation hasn't been started yet." SINCE TUESDAY????? SINCE TUESDAY! So you all alert me to fraud early on Tuesday morning and the investigation hasn't even been started yet? Wow! Now, today, 4 days since THAT phone call, I still don't have my money. I call card services AGAIN, and today, only today, did someone tell me that it would take 10 business days for me to receive the provisional credit. Two weeks? How is that provisional? Most banks refund the money while the investigation is taking place. If they conclude it wasn't fraud, they take their money back. It is only $150 but it is MY $150 and I don't have it to give away or to wait two weeks to get it back. On top of that, I won't even have my bank card for 2 weeks. I'm very disappointed to say the least. Not what I expected from a well known financial institution in which I have been a customer for several years. There was no sense of urgency, lack-luster customer service and no sense of compassion. Not one time did anyone say, we are so sorry you experienced this and we will do our best to rectify the situation immediately. Instead there was a sense of "sucks to be you." I think some training for your representatives and call monitoring needs to take place so they don't continue to give your customers misinformation. I may not be as agitated had I been told on the FIRST phone call that this could take 2 weeks or if I had not been ping-ponged between card services and my local branch. Not a good look at all!!! Dollar bank delinked my personal account from my business account so I cannot use bill payer for personal bills (I have been doing this for years until now). They never sent me notification. Also, their guaranteed pay by date has been late multiple times and I had to pay late fees - good luck trying to get a credit for the fees as they will spout out some preprinted mumbo jumbo. Finally they will charge you a fee at EVERY opportunity. Also, plan to have rations and a lot of time if you call their customer service - I have waited a minimum 15 minutes every time I have called, even first thing in the morning. Just finished trying to make a deposit in mobile drive thru in Pine. Took nearly 10 minutes to make simple deposit. Car beside me was there before I arrived and remained after I left. Woman fell asleep at steering wheel while waiting. Amanda, Supervisor working today was completely dismissive, saying the line of customers inside take priority and I simply needed to wait. No warning or explanation. No offer to come inside to be served sooner. Just silence, then sustain when I said waiting 10 minutes while my car was running to make a simple deposit was unacceptable. For those not familiar, cash availability policy is very restrictive compared to other local banks. I was using teller line because ATM was not working properly, which is a common occurrence at this location. Overall, a bad experience made significantly worse by the customer service provided by the member of management supposed to look out for my interests. read more

Our experience not so great. We have mortgage as well as basic free checking and savings with Dollar in Squirrel Hill. Mortgage application process was brutal. Starting with the advertised rate of 2.85% being suddenly not available when we decided to lock it in; got 3.01%. Automatic deduction of mortgage payment was required to secure this rate and it came out of the required Dollar checking account on the first business day of the month. Free checking is free ... until. Beware of Funds Availability policy. We deposit a check monthly at the end of the month. In August, the end of the month was a weekend and Labor Day was on September 1. So our check did not get deposited until 9/2. Mortgage payment hit on 9/2. It was paid, but we were charged $36 insufficient funds due solely to Funds Availability Policy. After doing this first, Dollar then merrily hits us with two more $36 charges on smaller checks that would have cleared had they been processed before the mortgage payment. Had we NOT been required to submit to automatic deduction of mortgage, according to our monthly statement, we had at least 10 days grace to make the payment, so Dollar's requirements and policies trapped us into this situation. Moreover, there was over $3000 in the associated savings account that was ignored. I called to protest, and one of the $36 fees was waived. Then I was offered the "deal" of overdraft protection from the savings account for an annual fee plus a $10 transaction fee should this situation ever arise again. Needless to say, I declined this deal and transferred the savings to the checking account where it sits until I find another bank and then fire Dollar. read more

This is by far the worst bank you could possibly go with. I've been with this bank for about 3 years now and it's been nothing but problems. I'm on what they told me was a account that couldn't be over drafted I use things like Apple Music, Netflix, Hulu, so I always have things coming out of my account so I didn't want to have any overdrafts or overdraft fees which they told me I wouldn't. Yet if something comes out and I don't have the amount in there I still get over drafted and late charged. I had Apple Music come out the other day and I didn't have the money in my account and I got overdrafted and late charges in the same night. I didn't even have time to run to the bank and put my money in. I sat down with one of the workers inside and he explains to me that after 3 years they have had me set up under the wrong account, so now I'm on the "right" account with a 5$ fee per month and I go to put money on my account to purchase something online and the card keeps getting declined I checked and I have more than the amount that I need in the account. It is nothing but problems with this bank, you will get random charges you don't understand all the time. Just wanna save people from going to the wrong bank! read more

I have had Dollar Bank for years and used it regularly even though it is not my primary account and recently had a horrible experience which they refuse to remedy. I mobile deposited a $1,000 check (this was a perfectly good check so no problem there), which I have used mobile deposit frequently with no problem. It said $100 was available immediately, and after a couple days I got a notice that the entire check was accepted and to destroy the check - the usual message. Well, a couple days later I got an alert that my bank account had a problem. I logged in to see that the entire $1,000 had been put back on hold (again no problem with the check - and the bank manager confirmed this) and they were bouncing everything in my account even though the running total available balance (of which I took screen shots) never went negative and even though I have overdraft protection. I was worried because I had other payments due so I kept transferring more money to the account in the interim, but they kept charging fees. I called the bank and they initially agreed and refunded $72 of the dollars, but subsequently 5 more small payments were rejected based on them placing more holds on deposits I put in to cover their mistake, and although the balance never showed even close to negative. I was still getting hit with hundreds of dollars in fees in my Dollar Bank account and hundreds of dollars in fees from returned items to others. I should have had a remaining balance in that account of $400 and I had almost zero. That is how many fees they charged me, and the remainder when I called back they claimed were not their fault. This is their policy. It has been 10 days and they are still holding items and tell me it will be another week until those holds come off. I consider this fraudulent theft of funds. I am a very long time customer and this has never happened before. It is abusive, an absolute nightmare, and they felt it was completely justified to charge me hundreds of dollars in fees even if it was their mistake, with these fees leading to more bouncing of payments and more fees, so BEWARE! When I get this mess cleared up, I am DONE with this bank and will never use it again! read more
