The turkey lacked flavor, so was way overpowered by the kraut. The baked potato clearly had been baked days before, then a weak attempt to reheat was made. It didn't even start to melt the butter. Mealy and gross.

We came for the Mother's Day brunch buffet and had a very disappointing experience. The brunch was…read moreadvertised as running until 1:00 PM, and reservations were still being accepted up until that time. However, when our party arrived for our 12:30 reservation, almost all of the food was gone and nothing was being refilled, despite there still being 30 minutes left in service. The little food that was available wasn't even very good, and everyone in our group left hungry. The service was also extremely poor. After ordering drinks, we waited about 15 minutes to receive them, and by then we had already finished the minimal food we were able to get. Throughout the rest of the meal, we were largely ignored and had no idea how to even check out. While the manager did comp 50% off the buffet cost, we still paid full price for drinks. For a group of six, we spent around $80 and left disappointed, hungry, and frustrated. This event was clearly not planned well, and both the food quality and service need major improvement.

Because of the deluge of people in town, menu was taken out only and was choice of lasagna and a calzone type sandwich. They ran out of the lasagna just before we got to front so friend ordered food while I secured a cool spot to sit upstairs in bar. ALL of the staff were incredible and friendly. Bartenders were awesome and we put them to task. Several rounds. The "pizone", aka calzone was very good, fresh baked bread loaf with sauce, meat and cheese baked into it.

Arrived excited as I saw the menu had fried gizzards and also deep fried angus steak cubes. I ordered both and the panino. The gizzard breading immediately made me think of long John silver fried clams oddly enough. The steak was flavorful but a bit on the tough overcooked side. The panino ended up being a slightly thinly filled pepperoni roll with meatballs added which was slightly a downer. Had to ask for my refill as the waitress while nice seemed to be working the kitchen as well. Waited about 15 minutes to get my check from the time I took my card out and put it on the table. On paper it was cool...but nothing wowed me enough to recommend.

So glad that I found Norie Thuerauf's The Big House earlier today for a terrific breakfast with a great atmosphere. Less than a 15-minute ride from the Field of Dreams Movie Site, The Big House offers lunch seven days a week and dinner six times, but this was breakfast, and it was pretty good, provided only on Sundays! Located across from a glorious church in the northwest corner of Dyersville, The Big House features a large dining room with sensational breakfast options served in buffet form. Eggs, bacon, pancakes, hash browns, cheesy biscuits, multiple stroganoff dishes, ham, sausage, and spicy meatballs at the end of the room, an all-you-can-eat meal for just $10! And they had great desserts that were outstanding! Bianca, our server, was kind, personable, and attentive; the head cook, Marlene, was interactive and talented. Norie, who has had considerable local success in previous dining establishments, came over and said hello, answering questions and being a friendly host! A solid positive recommendation here, a great place to visit on a Sunday morning. I'll return soon to try some of their Asian cuisines for dinner. So good to see another breakfast option in the Dyersville community!

I've never had a sandwich, soup, salad or pizza here that was not top line. And the beer is always cold. The Sports Bar location has been a downtown saloon since my granddad was just a young pup.
