I think my photos got deleted somehow but I managed to find a video I had. After the show i wondered up stairs and thought I grab some really good pictures which I seem to have never saved . But it was nice love the architecture details. One thing I would add is that the bathroom (at least the one upstairs) is not as pretty. I forgot to check out the downstairs one but I think I was expecting something grand or as equally nice as the theatre itself. Staff was friendly, I love that they have a box office to purchase tickets from a person before coming in if you don't already have one, instead of sending you to a screen. The whole experience was nice. I will be back for another showing soon!

Parking is a bit tricky as there is no direct parking available in front of the theatre but there are some paid lots and street parking is available (there is a 2 hour limit to be considerate of if you're seeing a matinee, not applicable after 8). What stands out is the seating is a bit more comfortable with a decent amount of leg room my partner who is 6'1 was able to sit comfortably. The sound quality of this theatre is also amazing, I was able to hear the music and the actors very clearly throughout the show. I checked out Virginia Reps production of Waitress for the first time this past weekend and it was phenomenal! So glad that we are able to have such quality theatre offerings here in the area and this is one place that can not be beat! Before a shows run they offer pay what you can previews which definitely makes the magic of theatre more accessible to the masses. Definitely give Virginia Repertory a shot if you have any interest in the arts, I think this is a great introduction to some amazing shows and everyone is extremely talented!

Firehouse is a decent small theater so I am not going to review it against the standards set by the large houses. Come to Firehouse for above average acting and for decent production values. Come to Firehouse for exposure to plays you won't see at large houses -- ranging from, say, Rocky Horror to Buried Child. Come to Firehouse for the experience of seeing a show in a raw form that does not depend on major fly-in gimmicks or other high tech special effects. Do not come if the above doesn't suit you, or if not quite comfortable seating is an issue. Or if you need to park close. Firehouse and its ilk fill a valuable niche. It should be supported and patronized.

The building…read moreitself is stunning with a public lot right in front and a variety of garages surrounding it, parking was a breeze for our event. Walking in we were greeted by the wonderful attendants and our seats were surprisingly spacious in regards to leg room (we sat center orchestra Row J). Both my partner and I are tall so leg room is definitely a plus. The show was phenomenal and I feel so lucky to get to experience the arts here in Richmond! I would definitely reccomend a show here just for the ambiance alone, the theater inside is stunning with so many things to look at. Definitely arrive the 30 minutes prior to showtime to take in all of the sights.

It wasn't hot outside the evening we were there, but it felt like the inside of a refrigerator. Wear long pants and a jacket, and bring gloves. Lastly, the staff needs to be told to keep their hands to themselves. I turned on my phone flashlight so I could find something I dropped on the floor, and a staff member ran over and tapped me on the knee and told me to limit my cell phone use. The light was on for maybe 10 seconds, and I hadn't been using it prior to then. Not smart to physically reprimand a guest!

Loved being able to laugh and cheer on strangers as they did something for the first time. They also had a concessions stand that appeared to sell drinks and a few snacks, I didn't indulge but it was nice to know that was an option. Coalition theater provides a bridge between entertainment and community which I really loved. When you sign up for a class, you get a free show pass for the season you're signed up. My 101 was with Emilee and she was incredible. I loved her positive energy and feedback. She really supported us and helped us grow. My 201 was with Chris and I loved how passionate he was about improv. Him and our TA took amazing notes to help us improve our improv. He also took the time to sign us up for extra practices during open mic nights at the theater. If you're looking to take comedy classes or just want to catch a show, Coalition Theater is the place for you. You can catch shows Thursdays through Saturdays. They have drinks and snacks for sale during shows. There is a gender neutral bathroom. There are three rows of seating and it's a pretty intimate space. It's an awesome community of supportive and inclusive people.
