I found a new addition to the shop since I was there last -- Tejo handcrafted stone decor. With a couple of shelves devoted to displaying a limited selection of their soapstone crafts. Very cool stuff. I looked and admired. Left the shop with two, crochet-crafted tulips, and a ceramic mug. One of the flowers will look just right in a vase purchased at the shop next door. Not sure, at this time, whether I will use the mug for hot beverages, or as a vase, for a grouping of flowers. Time will tell -- at present, just pondering and admiring. I am glad to have devoted this time to returning to Churi. It is a fine shop, with such lovely displays of rather unique crafts and related products. And my purchase will provide memories to "keep in touch".

The gallery worked with us and went out of their way to make sure the piece was done on time, even early. They thought to help us customize it ( aquamarine eyes to match her birthstone instead of topaz), in order to to make it more speical without our initiative and we did the whole transaction online because we live in Seattle and my dad was in the hospital at the time. I cannot say enough good things about this gallery!

The staff was so kind showing me around and being patient when I wandered around for a while before ordering. I would say for the experience and vibes of the place it is well worth the money.

This place is definitely expensive, would not recommend if you're broke, I'm not though. But yea I bought a soap shaped as a fish. I thought this was the coolest thing ever, I've never seen that before. Yea I paid $50 CAD for a soap. Yea that's absolutely ridiculous and yes you can call me stupid BUT at least it's cool though, amirite. Also, it smells good. But yea it's a gift, however I think I need to come back here and buy one for me. I think this is one of the coolest shops in gastown, this isn't a place you're going to read a review for and go, you just kinda walk into it like I did. Also, this place has really good books, I ended up buying the same book I saw here on amazon for half the price. But hey, at least I bought that fish soap.

Old Faithful is one of those shops that is merchandised so well where if you remove something off…read moreof a shelf someone else could tell exactly what you moved. I have been to the Old Faithful shop many times and it hasn't disappointed. It is very true to their theme of artisan, home-made or well-crafted-and-the-woodsy-bent items, which speaks to a particular customer. Some may love this shop and others may find it expensive and too specific to integrate into their personal style. I appreciate the care in the selection of the goods and the kindness of the employees. The first time I was in the shop (being overwhelmed by the visuals) I just bought several journals. When I got home, I realized that I wanted more and ordered them by phone because they don't use their website for special orders. They were very nice and when the package arrived, it was beautiful. Brown paper package, tied up with string... no kidding. This time I bought a huge wool blanket that I thought I could fit in my luggage (I couldn't) and it made a perfect gift. The thing about the blanket purchase was how much banter I had the the employees while I was purchasing it. While we were talking, THEY referenced that I had bought the journals the previous year. What memory. Their attention to detail gets me every time. I will always go back to Old Faithful when I am in Vancouver... whether or not I can fit what I buy into my luggage.

I found some pieces that I liked by David Tycho and dropped the bomb on Jennifer that I would need then on a Remembrance day which is a stat for most... with out even skipping a beat she offered to meet me on her day off to get me the art I needed.....wow! Extra special thing today I happened to be there at the right time because I had the chance to meet the gallery owner Mat Petley-jones nephew of the late Canadian and British artist Llewellyn Petley-Jones. three thumbs up from this yelper!

What an incredibly fun store to shop in for antiques, pottery, and paintings…read more This store is owned by a very nice owner who will give you the story on any piece you are interested in. You can also negotiate on most items. I have been wanting a piece of pottery from really any tribe of indigenous people for a very long time and was able to acquire one for a reasonable price at this shop. It was made by the Acoma Pueblo tribe in New Mexico and the process included burning horsehair into the pottery to make extremely sleek design patterns as you can see from the pictures uploaded. My girlfriend ended up getting a woodblock painting from a Japanese artist of a Dojo. We spent over an hour the first time we came here and returned to the store the next day to acquire the pieces that our heart was set on. I really cannot state any negatives on the store except will note the store can get very hot so if you are driving here perhaps leave your coat in the car. As always people SYOY!!!

He had a huge collection of Christmas (one of our favorite things to shop for year round) and we left with some super awesome treasures. I wish I could have taken more on the plane ride home, maybe next time.
