I have taken my 14 year old Maltese to Derrick for the last three years. I got him four years ago…read morefrom the shelter- and he was severely neglected prior to coming to me. He had serious skin issues from what was most likely years of flea infestations (bad skin thickening) and he was never aggressive- but very tender to handle. Since bringing Beans not only has he been groomed well- he has so much trust and patience in being handled at home as well. He has no more skin thickening, very rarely has skin issues, and his quality of life has greatly improved. Prior to Derrick I took him to a mobile pet salon that wasn't very reliable, and tried my best to groom him at home. It's amazing to see how well he's aged because of his regular grooming. In addition we recently got a rescue who is a crazy mix- but part golden retriever and part Maltese (if you could believe it). She doesn't generally like men but Derrick is so kind and confident that she doesn't generally just fine. He gives me tips on stinky ears, broken nails, and all kinds of things. I moved to Sebastopol and still will take my dogs to see him, he always has time and great advice about whatever I am curious about.

She fit us in quickly because my black lab has surgery coming up this Wednesday, which I really appreciated. What truly sets her apart, though, is the care and understanding she shows for each dog. My fox red lab is extremely nervous around people. She usually barks, cowers, and takes a long time to warm up. Cathy generously offered for me to bring her in just to spend time in the space with her, her husband, and their dogs, purely to help her feel more comfortable. The moment we arrived, I could tell this place was special. The space is beautiful and clearly designed with dogs in mind, and Cathy herself is just lovely. Almost immediately, my nervous pup, who usually barks at everyone, was calmly approaching her, sniffing her hand, and even taking treats without making a sound. I was honestly amazed. I left feeling completely at ease, knowing both of my dogs were in the best possible hands. Cathy kept me updated throughout the entire visit, not only about my black lab's groom, but also about my other pup who wasn't even there for a groom. She simply took the time to help her build comfort and trust for future visits, which is something you just don't see often. When I came back, my black lab looked perfect, and both dogs were happy, relaxed, and honestly didn't want to leave. That says everything. People like Cathy are truly special. She is also very terrified and nervous in car rides so we've been looking for a mobile groomer for some time. Everyone is either booked/not accepting new clients OR not taking dogs over 100 pounds. Ellie was getting really stinky and dirty but luckily we came about Carrie's business through a few other groomers that had recommended her. She is the best!!! She texted us back right away and was very accommodating to our schedule. We were able to book something and she came over with her big bus/van. She came inside our house to meet Ellie first and get her comfortable (and had lots of yummy cheese to give Ellie for treats!) and then we all went out into the bus/van. She let me and my daughter come in the van first and Ellie followed us shortly after. Ellie was a bit nervous but from what Carrie said, she did great!!! Carrie was very gentle and sweet with Ellie and went as slow as needed as to not scare her. Ellie got the works and came out looking/feeling/smelling like a new dog (and she even got a cute little bandana to show off) I'm so grateful we found Carrie and I highly recommend her!

He hates it, I hate it, and he looked terrible because I am not a groomer. I *finally* got on the wait list with Rebecca at The Soggy Doggy, and got lucky with a cancellation. She listened to what I wanted, and really delivered. WOW. I've never seen Kobe look so handsome even with other groomers we've had in the past. It's obvious that she really cares about the animals in her care and her skill as a groomer is very evident. I've already booked out appointments through the end of the year.
