I am sharing my factual experience as a long-term client of this salon to warn others about a…read moreserious safety issue and how it was handled by management. The hair stylist who cut my hair recently moved out of state. The owner took over some of her customers, myself included. This was the second appointment I had with him.   I arrived at 10:00 AM for a scheduled haircut with the salon owner, Matthew. When I opened the entrance door, an unleashed I was greeted by an unleashed dog that was roaming free inside. The dog immediately lunged toward my chest and bit my left arm. I quickly shut the door to put a barrier between myself and the animal.   When I stepped back inside to look for Matthew, he was late and hadn't arrived for the 10am appointment yet. I spoke to the dog's owner, a man whose wife was getting her hair done, and told him his dog bit me. Instead of apologizing, he raised his voice, telling me I was in the wrong place and asked me why I was there. The stylist on duty offered no assistance or apology either, casually remarking to his client that he didn't think Matthew had appointments scheduled on Sunday. After seeing that the dog was now leashed, I walked over to Matthew's station to grab Kleenex to stop the bleeding from my arm. The dog owner continued to be aggressive, so I stepped outside to call Mathew and instead saw him walking towards the salon with another person.    I explained what happened and we walked back in together. The dog's owner continued to be argumentative, downplaying the visible blood and clear puncture wounds as "probably a scratch." Because he became uncooperative when asked for rabies verification, the police were called to help.   Just minutes later, multiple Nichols Hills police officers arrived on the scene (the officers were very professional and helpful). The dog's volatile behavior was on full display when it growled and lunged at the lead officer who was attempting to take a photo of its tags, forcing the officer to back away. Remarkably, the female dog owner spent the roughly 1.5-hour police investigation continuing to have her hair done and even blow-dried. I finally left the salon around 11:30 AM after the police finished their report, then went straight to Urgent Care where I was treated for dog bite wounds.   As of writing this, I have received no follow-up from the salon owner -- no apology, health check-in, or reschedule request. The best I got while I was there was when Matthew offered me a bottle of water and asked to reschedule later in the week. After that, he left me to greet his 10:30 AM appointment while I waited with the police.    In my opinion, this unprovoked incident was entirely preventable and warranted some type of apology or goodwill. Moreover, allowing clients to leave multiple dogs unleashed inside a private business creates a severe safety hazard that the salon staff completely failed to address. I will not be returning and recommend that you seek another establishment to get your hair cut. For reference, this incident happened at the end of June 2026

After searching on Google, I found The Willow Organic Salon. Today was my first appointment. I'm so happy. Brittany did a great job. I chose this salon because I'm pregnant and wanted the low toxins even though my OB said it's fine for me to be around the dye in the second trimester. I came in after my hair was a deep red color from a salon doing it. I asked for them to do a color correction and really just move me more away from red and closer to my natural (I showed her pics and told her my natural has a bit of red already. I just didn't want the vibrant red). Still swore to me up and down she could get me there. Kailey started with a conditioning treatment, washing my hair and other things and as I was under the heat lamps, tells me to sign the paperwork and gives me the price. $360. What was I going to do at this point under the heat lamps? Refuse to sign their no refund and say no to the cost and leave with product in my hair? This is called pressure-based consent. She started on my hair- what was a decent red (just wanted a bit of my natural hair back in it) And it turned orange and blotchy. I understand that, that vibrant red is a process. My hormones may be affecting the color. I can't keep going to different people who don't know my hair. I signed a no refund agreement. So there are things I know I did not do correctly. But my first biggest mistake was not running. She did a choppy job. I would have stayed with the red-which like I said was fine, just not what I wanted then be orange and choppy. If she was honest up front and said, hey I am going to try but it may look like xyz, then I would have been okay with it. But promising me she can get me to my natural, was not the move. Now I will give it to Kailey-she was kind and explained what she did wrong and then the manager called me. I said, "I will just call my bank" she said, "You signed the waiver and you don't want to do that because we will pull your no refund agreement and have to fight it and we've done that before with another client" I told her Kailey said "if you're not wanting a refund and prefer a refund I'll reach out to my manager/owner." When I told her that she said, "I read your messages and you said refund first." Which I did, but why respond that way and why start on my hair and THEN tell me to sign it all? Again, pressure based consent/ soft cohesion. She told me to stop going to different people to do my hair- which I agree with and should have NEVER went to them regardless of "nontoxic chemicals". I went back to my salon I went to most of my 20's. She said this isn't even cut straight and she was in shock at how blotchy, orange, and bad it looked. She got me to my natural in one sitting for $95 and then I will have a touch up in a few weeks. Although the willow was overly nice, I feel like pricing+consent timing is something they need to work on and communication after the fact. Not put you in a position you feel like you have to pay for something you won't even actually get. They refuse to do a refund but offered to "fix it". I arrived a bit early and was greeted in a friendly manner by the staff and the salon pet-friend. Once it was my turn, I was treated like a person, not just a number. Christen took the time to discuss my options with me and talked me through the entire process. I have followed him to and from four salons over the last 10+ years. Not to say I haven't cheated on him when Ive missed my appointment or decided I want to roll the stylist dice to try for a cheaper coif. However, I ALWAYS return to him to fix whatever hair tragedy the affair cost me. He is an amazing colorist. In fact, I believe he's the only stylist in OKC that can make brown (100% of the time I use someone else I end up with black hair). I have referred many friends to him over the years so I can also personally vouch for his ability to make beautiful blondes and reds (I desperately wish I could pull off red)! He ran Cottonwoods color department before leaving and ending up at conveniently located and modern Van Cleef Salon in Nichols Hills Plaza. He offers appointments Tues-Saturday, and I usually schedule my appointment to be after work so I can have a glass of wine while he works on my hair! He is a little pricey (usually around $200 after tip for a basic trim and color), but you get what you pay for. You will get email and text reminders in the two to three days leading up to your appointment which is nice for a person with a busy schedule. Also, prepare to set your appointment many weeks in advance if you want/need a certain time of day. (Please don't take my Wednesday afternoons since I've been nice enough to change your life with this hair gem)!
