A truckee local, took my dog for a mediocre accident a few months ago for veterinary advice. The doctor was very nice but suggested a very expensive procedure. I questioned the recommended plan and she was somewhat pushy and made it seem like it was the only option. I then stated I have a medical degree and questioned the process. The vet soon changed their tone and opinion on how to proceed to something completely different and 1/4th the price! A few months go by and I bring my dog back for another accident. The head female vet tech was VERY rude and demanding the best process to move forward. She stated in my dog's records, I "refused" suggested treatment previously and this was the only route forward. She was by far the most unprofessional person demanding she knows best only because she didn't know she was talking to another medical professional that can call out her BS! She should be fired! These two initial diagnoses were correct but suggest the most expensive treatment because they think you don't know any better and money hungry! Always ask questions, it's okay to second guess medical treatment and ask for alternative treatments. read more

I LOVE Doctor's Office for Pets! I've been bringing my dog, Cooper, there for the last five years, and I am so happy I chose them. Cooper's a thirteen-year-old mini-Aussie with anxiety, and Dr. Math and the rest of the staff (Sierra, Madi, Sheridan, and Caroline specifically) always make us feel so comfortable and well taken care of. Dr. Math is the BEST vet I have ever had. She always makes sure to be thorough without sounding condescending, and you can tell she really cares not only for the pets and their health but also for her clients. if only they had told me to put the poop in the refrigerator.....well, that was the poor communication that only propelled Mochi's experience from awesome to awful. the whole staff there, and Dr. Math, are all very kind. Truly. Sierra, specifically, went out of her way to make us feel welcome. As a first time 'puppy mamma', I had no idea what to expect with bringing in my 11-week old baby. I can get through the miscommunication, but I really didn't want anybody else to go through it. Through what, you ask? Well, because I wasn't told to refrigerate the poop, the nice Dr. Math had to 'probe Mochi's butt' and get her to poop. I heard my Mochi yelp/cry next door...but, I got over it and hoping she did as well. I went home, and came back next day because her fecal sample showed parasites. I was greeted by very kind staff and the 'manager' (Maddie?) also came to say hello. I decided since she was the office manager, I would share with her what had happened as a 'learning moment'. She said 'ok' and briskly walked away. The nice young lady at the desk looked at me and started to offer some options in the future, but another employee (tall blonde lady) came out from behind and interrupted her to say 'we already handled this'...RUDE!!! NO EMPATHY. NO APOLOGIES FROM ANYBODY!!! It really was tough on me to know Mochie had gone through that and the APATHY from the manager and one other colleague was really sad. She is conscientious, and analytical and just plain amazing and I have been through all the different veterinary practices in Truckee and there's not one there other than her that I would trust with anyone or anything and I trust her 100% with my cats I have known Dr Math for at least 15 years and I've been a client of hers during that time. This office mistreats animals. No one should ever use this horrible dirty veterinarian. Even when my dog was suffering, they refused to give him TWO pills of allergy medicine that would relieve his suffering until we could get him in for a standard visit. They charge unnecessary fees and costs and MISTREAT their doggie patients - no sympathy, no kindness - no competence. They make up completely false statements in order to RAISE the costs of their services when this office could actually CARE LESS about any of they animals for whom they are supposed to be providing care. Their only concern is the bottom line of their office. Worst vet in the Tahoe basin. read more

I absolutely love Dr. Math. She is the best veterinarian and will make sure your fur baby is well taken care of. I have been taking my dogs here for over 10 years. In the past few years, I have had negative experiences here with no fault to anyone except one employee, Caroline. She will make you feel that you are an inconvenience for being there and she is really rough with the animals which makes me extremely uncomfortable. Even though I trust Dr.Math with my dogs lives, in the last 6 months I have had to find vet care elsewhere because of the uneasy feeling given off by this employee. Doctor's office for Pets....Dr. Math is a LIAR!!! My pets have been patients of Dr. Kang and she is wonderful. But...I took my malamute to her for a mass that had developed on her leg. Dr. Kang was able to get some fluid from the mass and let me know that it was not showing any cancer cells but that we could do a punch to make sure, but I was told to just keep an eye on it. The fact that a punch would involve my 10 year old big girl under, made me take a step back. Then...the mass was increasing in size so I made an appt for her. Only, Dr. Kang was on sabatical and I was met with Dr. Math. I asked her to take a look at the mass and she said she could test from fluid from it. I told her that Dr. Kang had already done that. Then she rudely said "well then what do you want me to do?" I mean where is the compassion? She then, said well, if I test it and there is no cancer, I won't charge you for the test. So I agreed. Then she comes out and tells me there were cancer cells in the mass .Later ...I chose to have Dr. Dennie to take a second look at my dog's mass since he is a surgeon. He was great! Explained everything to me. But at the same time...the diagnosis of the mass was only suspicious. DR. MATH lied to me! It broke my heart to know that my dog had cancer. But it was a LIE!!! I can't say enough good about this veterinarian office. We are from the Bay Area and have a vacation home in Tahoe Donner. We were there for 2 weeks in the end of July when our 13 year old Labrador retriever started to fail badly. We knew it was coming in the future but it just happened quicker than we expected. Realizing we wouldn't be able to make the 3 hour trip home with our dog in his deteriorating state we decided we needed to have him put to sleep in Truckee. The office staff got us in on the day we called and were so kind and compassionate when we brought him there. We've been on the road traveling for 2 months and staying in beautiful Truckee. However, our sweet dog Kaia started limping and we knew something was wrong Saturday morning....Sunday we took her to Reno for an emergency visit. She received medications but no diagnosis. We were still very worried so we decided to take her to a local veterinarian. They were busy, as so many health care providers are ....human or animal. Heather welcomed us in and consulted with Dr. Kang. Kaia stayed and they did a very thorough examination and debridement of her paw. Dr. Kang called us soon after we left her, and told us her findings and told us that she had a severe infection. We would have to follow up with our local veterinarian but sent her home with anti inflammatory and pain medications. As we were already given antibiotics from the Reno emergency care. Thank you Dr. Kang, Heather, and Caroline! Your an amazing and compassionate team of professionals who my wife and I are so grateful for. Ironically, we took some time away from our professions as healthcare workers to travel and visit family, but unfortunately Kaia has had 2 close calls on this trip. I feel very thankful for Dr. Kang and her team. My 13-year-old dog Cleo and I showed up without an appointment. Cleo was in bad shape after the dog we were fostering bit her. Dr. Kang had only seen Cleo once and still agreed to see her, even though Doctor's Office for Pets doesn't provide urgent care services. They took great care of her, and all the staff was so patient and caring. They answered all my questions and called between appointments to check on my dog. Dr. Stuart saw my new rescue pup on short notice to check on her sutures from her spaying operation two weeks ago. I appreciated that she asked me to email her pictures before asking me to bring the dog in. Once we arrived, my pup was in and out quickly and in a COVID-safe manner. Our dog was in extreme pain and having difficulty walking. We just moved to the area and had not established ourselves with a local vet yet. My wife used to manage a vet clinic, so we are very familiar with the industry. We took our shepherd mix Sunny here after calling and I was quite pleased! They fit me in same day even with a full schedule with minimal waiting and the price was very fair (especially for a mountain vet), the staff was extremely compassionate, and we will be returning to them as our primary vet. I bring all of my pets here. 2 dogs, 1 cat, and this place is my go to. They are fast, friendly, and affordable! The facility is clean and accommodating. The reason for only 4 starts is because it is extremely hard to get ahold of them via phone and I find it a little odd that every time we go my dogs see someone different. At previous vets we always saw the same vet and just different vet techs. All in all though, this place is great. I love having them close by for all of our vet needs. read more

I will say that I genuinely appreciate the care and patience the vet techs gave my pup as he has a very very hard time being restrained for vaccines, and they were very calm and helpful despite his severe behavior (only during the vaccination procedure). My disappointment came with the stand in vet who administered his vaccines. From the moment she walked in the door I felt shamed for 1. not actively holding my pup on the table (he has never even attempted to jump off anything taller than two feet, and my primary vet does all the handling with him on the table so I've never been put in a position where I've had to restrain him so a simple "hey you might want to hold him," would have sufficed, rather than staring at me like I'm an imbecile) 2. this is not my primary vet, I am traveling from Austin, Texas, but provided all of his vaccine records (which he is up to date on) to which the vet jumped to a conclusion that I hadn't vaccinated him at all (maybe assumed I'm an antivaxer because I live in Texas, as she didn't know I'm from California) 3. she insinuated that I had not done my research on my dog's breed prior to getting him (perhaps because I'm in my late 20s and look younger), to which I assured her that I absolutely had 4. she also made me feel incredibly stupid for listening to the recommendations of my dog's breeder and primary veterinarian to not neuter my dog too early 5. prior to the appointment I was of the understanding that my pup was on his last round of core vaccines, per my primary vet's records, but following my appointment I was told that he still needed more, which made no sense unless they did not completely check his record. After reaching out to my primary vet, they clarified that he was in fact on his last round and had I followed the recommendation of this vet, I would have been over-vaccinating. My experience here was such a drastic contrast to my experience at my primary vet that I will be very hesitant to see any other vets in the future. I'd like to add that for a four month old, my pup is actually very well trained, socialized, and behaved for his age, but being restrained has been increasingly hard for him. I have never witnessed behavior like I saw today from him with his vets at home, potentially because they use a lot of positive reinforcement prior to sticking him with a needle, so his reaction was one I was not prepared for. This vet didn't even take a second to say hi to him, give him any treats, or let him adjust to being completely restrained, which from a behavioral perspective, basically set him up for failure, and had I not been so in shock, I probably could have advocated for him better. I am terrified that my dog is now traumatized when it comes to vets. Again the vet-techs were awesome and their help alone would have been deserving of 5 stars, had the stand-in vet not acted like I was an absolutely deplorable dog owner and treated my pup like the baby he actually is. read more

The best vet office I have ever been to hand down. Last winter I was visiting from out of town, my big 100 lb husky had started having seizures a few years prior but hadn't had an episode in a while, I don't know if it was the elevation or what but she started seizing and wouldn't stop, which our vet at home told us was rare and wouldn't happen. It was a Saturday and we were desperately searching for a vet office who would help us, the first place we called said they didn't want to help and there was no emergency vet closer than Reno. We didn't have time to just sit around and call vet hospitals so we lifted her seizing body into the car and drove to the doctors office for pets. They immediately dropped everything and helped us get her out of the car and made her more comfortable. They were incredibly nice, knowledgeable, and did everything they could to help her. I would trust my animals with these vets any day, they were extremely kind and we were beyond grateful for their willingness to help us. If I could give more stars I would. read more

I took my house cat here for her first vet visit... ever (she is 8). One of her teeth had fallen out and she had to get 3 more removed. I even called Reno to compare prices and the price was the same as Reno. The staff was so sweet to my cat and made sure to follow up with phone calls. She had some GI issues after antibiotics which they helped me resolve, and I have had to call them for a couple other issues (my cat was drooling and I thought she was sick but she had actually chewed on a glow stick after Halloween). My best friend had to take her dog in because he was limping. Dr. Kang told her he had cancer and probably had a few months left. She took him home and thought he would have more time. After only a few weeks he was getting worse by the day. After talking with Dr. Kang and staff about what to do, it was decided that the best choice was to put him out of his pain. We brought him to the vet and they had a room ready with a blanket on the floor and they had some candles burning. They explained the procedure and gave us some time to say our goodbyes. Everyone was so understanding and compassionate about it. They treated him with dignity and love. Dr. Kang, Jennifer, and Kelly were wonderful.
