All of these questions and more were answered when we walked into REW a couple nights later! Oh, boy, and we weren't alone! I think just about every music-inspired kiddo from a tri-state area was there getting fitted and equipped with their instruments. But, the folks at REW were ready! They were amply staffed, and the team (yes, "TEAM") of folks who answered all our questions, got us the VIOLA of my fifth-grader's dreams, and checked out with a lovely payment plan setup that night were all absolutely fantastic! I had ZERO idea or expectation of how and where to start on this journey; upon walking into REW, all of that washed away, and we're now a few weeks into our first year of strings, and my fifth grader couldn't be happier!

I had my receipt, nothing had been used. I could hear the clerk on the phone with the manager made it sound like they had ordered this thing by mistake unloaded it on my poor unsuspecting, father and then weren't willing to get stuck with it again. He was super helpful, welcoming, and made me feel comfortable plugging in and trying things out even if I didn't sound great That kind of experience goes a long way. This is now 5 times I've been in the Overland Park store and left frustrated. I went in to look at…read morea microphone. There were two employees behind the counter in the back room where the microphones are. One was messing with a synthesizer and the other was watching him. At no point did either look in my direction or ask if they could help. The microphone I wanted to look at had a spot in the display case but the mic was gone. Probably not in stock. So I walked out. The employee previously messing with the synthesizer was now behind the counter up front doing something on a computer or register, but there was no customer opposite him. I'll order the mic from another merchant online.

My former guitar luthier retired and I had to find a new one. I recently had two vintage guitars…read morethat needed work. I took them to two separate shops in Kansas City so I could compare. I took my '83 Fender Telecaster to Heritage. I was having it customized with new pickups and hardware. They have a guitar tech that comes in 3 days a week. He had a long wait list so the wait took a while, three weeks to be exact. Once he got to my guitar he was done in a day. He did a great job. The wait was rewarded. Communication was great. He kept me informed of each step and was accurate for time frames. When I came to pick it up it was beautiful and played great. His set up was excellent and exactly as I had requested. No frills, old fashion music shop. Reminds me of the kind downtown when I was a kid. Tight little space packed with instruments and smelling of oil and wood. When you're having your guitar worked on you want someone you can trust. Reliability and fair prices. Prices were fair. You want someone that does what you ask because you're the one playing it. I worry about my guitars. I want them back in no worse shape than I left them. I can trust Heritage music and their excellent guitar tech. I wouldn't hesitate to take my guitar back here for work.

A friend of mine (pro-musician) was at BAC in Kansas City getting some work done to his custom trombone. He connected me with them. Everyone there was so knowledgeable and friendly. They took the time to listen to what exactly my son was looking for. They figured out which horn was the best fit for my son. They even customized the trigger in my son's school colors. It was the perfect horn for my son and was reasonably priced. They did great with shipping it up to Cleveland for us. The horn and case was wrapped up nicely and arrived here in great shape. They are on TikTok with cool videos too!

This review is for the far south BAC on Metcalf; not the downtown one…read more They messed up the cork on my 1960's Selmer Mark 6 tenor sax. The guy who worked on it didn't know that the only way to tune the instrument was to move the mouthpiece back-and-forth. He didn't know that all Instruments can be tuned. He made the cork into a cone shaped thing with bare metal sticking out the back. All the horns he worked on that were on display have the same problem. Also he messed up the laquer on the neck. Apparently he put it next to something hot and it melted the 60 year old lacquer.
