Staff on the front desk are mostly useless and at times downright rude. I have had to explain simple medical terminology in notes from my private GP to a GP at this surgery. I have just rang to ask for help with regards to ordering my prescription online, explaining that I am abroad and need the prescription ready for when I arrive back. I was not asked for any of my details nor the medication in question - you'd imagine this to be rather important information. The response was: "sorry we don't take requests over the phone" ... yes but can you help me register online? "No, I can't see your screen. Please come into the surgery" .. I am abroad "well when you are back you can put a request in at the surgery"

Waiting times have been cut down, and my GP listens and does seem to take my ailments seriously, no matter how embarrassed I am to speak about them. I've been able to get appointments within a few days (it helps that my office is near enough that I can go during working hours) and the online booking system is pretty decent as well, allowing you to book and cancel appointments online. The only complaint here that I have now is that, if you have to call for any reason whatsoever, the chances are that you will spend a long time on the phone on hold. I suppose that it's inevitable though. The NHS is a free service available to all, and it's only to be expected that it's busy!

I have been recommended to Harley Street Health Centre by one of my colleagues. So I booked an appointment with Dr Abood. The consult lasted an hour, and included a chat about my symptoms, when they occur, ear & nose check, blood pressure and also had blood taken. Personally, even though I am in my mid 30's,I am really scarred of the needle, but the nurse was amazing. She distracted me by keeping my mind busy chatting, while she was drawing blood. Offered me water & advised to wait for couple of minutes before I leave. The whole experience was 5*. No rushing or looking at you like you are crazy because your palms & sole is itching at night, weirdly enough. So the next day I got my results. It was not as bad as I thought. Iron & Vitamin D deficiency. Something that can be fixed easily. So glad I went to the clinic, as my nose bleeds and itchyness have been haunting me for years. I am now taking my supplements & feeling much better. Will have another blood test done probably in 3-4 months.

I was lucky to find this lovely clinic in Harley Street which did exactly that and I've been visiting this place for the last 3 years. Would suggest it to anyone in and around the square mile.

I was in and out within a few minutes! I personally had a good look through the NHS choices website, but as most people only bother to review places when they are angry... so it can be scary reading!! It makes it sound like all the doctors in this area are useless with reception staff that have been replaced by trolls - eep! This review is in case other yelpers move to Walthamstow and have a similar difficulty choosing a GP! Addison Road Medical Practice is just around the corner from Walthamstow Village...it is quite a residential area, and there aren't many sign posts nearby, so take a map the first time you attempt to get there! I called ahead to find out the best time to come in and register. I had to fill in quite a few forms...and then needed to set an appointment with a nurse to finish the registration. The Brilliant bits: * I have never been kept waiting for a long time here. There is a sign in screen at the side of the reception. This morning I signed in, and was called to the doctor within 2 minutes...then I was out with a prescription within 10 minutes. * They always keep some appointments free each morning. If you call at 8:30, you can get one pretty easily. The downside of this is that you might need to wait for a non-urgent appointment. * The building seems new-ish and clean * The reception staff are friendly, although have little time to help as they are so busy. * It's NHS, so fixes you up for free (^^) The less-brilliant bits: * You aaaaalways need to hold as the phone line is always busy. * The place seems pretty big, and can be daunting the first time you go here. No-one bothers to instruct you how to get to rooms...so I just wandered around looking at signs until I spot the right consultation room. * There is a board that tells people the doctor is ready to see them...but no announcement. The first time I went there I was not told to sign in/watch the board, so I nearly missed my appointment. * I found my doctor quite unapproachable...He did give me antibiotics for my chesty cough, but his brisk manner made me unwilling to ask him other questions. *sigh*

The doctor - Dr Elizabeth Sinclair was lovely. I think they have loads of different ones here so difficult to say who you're going to get but if they're like her they'll be perfect for anything. I got a prescription after a quick chat with the doctor and was able to collect it from the pharmacy downstairs. Useful info : they're on the 37th floor so worth arriving a bit earlier than you'd think so you have time for the lifts etc! Also, check out my pic of the view from the waiting area. It's insane!

I wish that I didn't have to move from this surgery as it is the best I have experienced in London. It is a small and friendly surgery where the receptionists are very pleasant and helpful. They also open at either 7.30am or 8am in the mornings and 9pm on Tuesday which avoids the whole hassle of taking time off work to visit the doctor. My doctor was Dr Ana Viejo who was fantastic and on the one occasion I couldn't see her, I had a terrible throat infection and the practice manager on walking through the reception could see my discomfort.
