I was drawn in to Hazel by some casual pull on pants, perfect for the kind of traveling I do, on their sale rack. Though I didn't get them, I tried on loads of clothes while my husband had a long and extremely enjoyable conversation about music with the absolutely wonderful sales clerk. Truth be told, all of the brands I tried on are national and could be gotten anywhere but I did end up with one pair of pants at a great sale price. Veering away from the sale rack I noticed an excellent curated collection of jewelry, shoes, scarves, and clothes.

Still an aesthetically pleasing place to browse, and they have a select quantity of beautiful clothing, shoes, and accessories. So many lovely, quality items! This year I bought two ample-sized shawl/wrap/scarves (Daisy big wrap) for when it eventually gets cold (it was in the 80s the day I bought them, but I know winter is a-comin'). They are incredibly soft, and come in the most gorgeous colors (I bought one in a deep plum color, and another in a rich teal. I hate winter, but I will be prepared to keep warm in style. The wraps were just $24, and I already know I'll be getting many compliments when I wear these. I also bought a light, airy poncho that can be worn several ways. I bought one here last year--in indigo--and I wear it over solid-colored basics. I never fail to get compliments on it (and it adds just the right amount of light warmth and coverage, as well as a pop of color--sorry, I normally stay away from using overplayed terms like that, but it fits). It's the Van Klee poncho, just $22, and I got one in fuschia. I fell in lust with some of their fabulous jewelry but had to get back to my laundry. I think I'll be back before heading home on the weekend. As noted in my previous review, the ladies working in the shop were friendly and helpful, but not right on top of me as I shopped (thank you, thank you). This is my favorite shop in York.

Since I was visiting from NJ, that was not happening. As I entered Gondwana, I received a warm welcome & was showered with hospitality. Not only did I find a colorful selection of silk dresses & accessories, I also found the most stylish, comfortable clothing I can live in & feel great about wearing. As a final touch, I received a hand-written note from Jackie thanking me asking if she could do anything else to help assist me. This first-class personable service is hard to find. I took the sweater back and gave them a heads up that I would be purchasing something else of much greater value, but they only offered to have it fixed. I understand that was a fairly reasonable offer, but this was a present for someone to be given tomorrow. The manager seems short sighted given the option to make a sale of three times the value, they would rather upset me for $50 and the conviction not to return.
