Lets be honest here, the real reason this place is consistently getting 5 stars is not the fact…read moreit's a really nice beach right in the city, or that drinking any type of cocktail tastes that much better barefoot; it's really because this is Germany and nobody gives a crap if you sunbathe in the nude. It just so happens that this bar is located on a beautiful secluded part of the river, and there's no better place to take your clothes off and have a mojito than on a beach. Ladies: this is not a place to feel bashful, but you'd certainly need to feel comfortable topless in front of a bunch of grandpas who stumble over from their moldy boats in the marina next door. Beyond that its a damn fine place to get a tan like i did! Fellas: this isnt the place to pick up chicks, seriously, dont push your luck otherwise you might find your face in the sand like some obnoxious Brit i saw. Just kick your feet up with a beer and quietly enjoy the view (environmental and human).

28 Grad is an awesome beach club - the best in Hamburg…read more Seriously, if the weather is good in Hamburg, it's worth jumping on the S1 train to Wedel. Once you arrive there, you still have a 10 minute walk down to the beach. The other way to get here - my preferred way - is to cycle alongside the Elbe. Close to Wedel you're forced inland to make your way around some huge ugly industrial complex, but don't be dissuaded - you can't see anything of it from the beach. Once you finally arrive you'll find a lovely little beach club that's situated at one end of one of the nicest beaches in Hamburg. If the tide is in, the beach can be a little narrow, but the bay is very shallow, which makes it great for children for paddling and swimming. Also, if the tide is out the beach quickly becomes rather large, flat and perfect for a game of beach cricket or football. As with all beach clubs the prices are somewhat inflated and you should expect to pay a EUR1 deposit on any glass or bottle. This is the best beach bar in Hamburg though :)

It is directly situated at the Elbe and visitors have really a great view at this river. You may watch the huge ships passing by while you are having a coffee or you are enjoying your breakfast. A small beach is directly in front of the café The café is very special and you will find lots of young people spending their time here. Lots of people in the twenties and thirties go there to meet friends or to relax. The atmosphere is amazing. When you go there simply to have coffee and to relax it often may happen that people start a conversation without knowing you at all. This is the result of such a comfortable atmosphere. Everybody is relaxed and life is beautiful again. The service is very friendly and professional. It is really worth going there and enjoy this place.

Great sound quality, good service at the bar, and it's a free sauna too!

It's a mid-sized venue, which (I assume) holds a few thousand people. There's no seating, thankfully, but around the stage the standing area is tiered by quite high steps, meaning that even the smallest person will have a good chance of beign able to see the stage. Tip: The beer is reasonably priced (for a concert venue) at EUR3, but you can easily bring that price down by picking up a few cups which all have a EUR1 deposit, which metallers don't seem to care about so much. Without trying to find any cups, or even moving from my spot, I brought the beer price down to EUR2 per beer :)
