The school was decent. Some of the teachers actually were pretty cool, especially the FFA teachers and the criminology teacher and the American history teacher, but some of the teachers kept on giving impossible work like college level for a freshman and the food was under par. Don't know how they can call that lunch to begin with Step it up. read more

Update. I would rate this a 4 now because with the vape detectors in use I personally believe that the issue has gone down significantly. Still cannot rate this school a 5 as it still has its flaws especially with changing its schedules (block scheduling, Wednesday schedule, lunch time, etc.) very frequently (however that is the district's decision). read more

Came here for the Dobson High School Band. Winter Concert. We attended a previous concert by the high school a month ago and we were amazed at the talent. Tonight was no different. The big plus is that our grandson is a member of their band. It was a night to just sit back and listen and let the music that comes from all the different instruments. Their band director, Jennifer Howard and the assistant band director, Austin Cilone, do a tremendous job with their band students. We listened to such talents by the likes of Patrick Newman, on flugelhorn, Randy Oshiro, on alto saxophone, Tanner Rackow and Jack Sheridon, on the marimba, Nora Jone, on flute, just to name a few As there is so much talent of music comes from those instruments. Of coarse I can't forget our grandson, Aleksander Kelker who normally plays drums but, tonight he was on the vibraphone and, ooh the sound of music. This band does jazz with on some of their sets and be being a lover of jazz it is such a delight. Tonight was a holiday theme but, the joy in the music, you can't beat it. It was a beautiful night and the plus is our grandson. Last night while we were waiting for the orchestra to assemble themselves in their positions, I started to read the concert program. One of the pages caught my eye and I want to share with you in hopes most of you will read it and embrace it. It was very profound, and struck my sensitivity. WHY Do We Teach Music? Not because we expect you to major in music. Not because we expect you to play all your life. Not so you can relax. Not so you can have fun. But: so you will be human. So you will recognize beauty. So you will be sensitive. So you will be closer to an infinite beyond this world So you will have something to cling to. So you will have more love, more compassion, more gentleness, more good. They don't see anything wrong with audio recording systems in the bathrooms, having a math teacher who is more interested in trying to convince children that global warming is fake than trying to teach math, removing half days, increasing class hours, adding literal spyware on the laptops, making awful quality ID's just so they can make students constantly pay for replacements, not allowing kids to contact their parents in an emergency, security that can't even break up fights, not even mentioning topics that are on benchmark tests and just expecting us to know them, and worst of all, locking children outside in 100+ degree heat for extended periods of time because they decided that the best way to deal with two students who were having sex in the bathroom is to punish the entire school. I am currently a sophomore there, and I am already seeing stuff that makes North Korea seem like a paradise by comparison. read more

ngl went to Dobson it's a nice school but honestly some teachers are just not it some are really nice someone are mean one of the teachers I had clearly had favorites she supposedly had all these rules and because it was like administration rules too but that doesn't mean she could treat some of us differently like she does with others. most of us followed the rules yet doesn't say a word to the others if you have the rules tell them not just taking points away it's not fair for others that most can do whatever they want even if they get points away they still do whatever they want. but besides that there is constant fighting between students mostly during lunch and honestly this school worry's over the most unimportant stuff like the stuff that is important you dont do much like fixing the bathrooms or actually making a student feel like they can trust you. another issue would be when a student ask a counselor about if they are on track or there missing anything they should know about they say there fine and what not yet they are not and spring stuff on them when it's almost near graduation or basically your last year of high school you ask with time for a reason yet they just say your fine and have to do these few things and your fine but when they tell you other things you need to do it's basically when your a senior which is annoying to be honest I feel like they should have let them know from that time they first asked not later on when it's the most important year this school is nice and all and great teachers well some but honestly it's a bit to chaoti. read more

if you have an IEP it will not be followed If you have an issue with students or staff nothing will be done if you report anything it will be laughed at if something is stolen nothing will be done if something is lost and turned into security they will yell at you before they give it back or they'll keep it and say it was never turned in and I could keep going but if you are reading this don't go here it's the worst school you can go to and it's only getting worse read more

My child went to Dobson High School for Freshman and part of Sophomore year with an IEP. I enrolled my child at Dobson because the administrator assured me that the school was well equipped with staff that was experienced in educating children with IEPs, and that all recommended accommodations would be available for my child. Once my child started attending, it was painfully obvious that the staff is ill equipped to educate a child with an IEP and recommended accommodations were scant. Most of the assignments in the classroom did not offer any IEP accommodations. Also, both the receptionist and the bookstore attendant treat everyone who approaches the counter as if they are being interrupted from something more important. They are both impatient with any questions a parent might have and sigh or roll their eyes when asked to help with something. I have seen it done to myself and to other parents on many occasions. The teachers were intolerant and impatient more often than not. I had several meetings with teachers regarding my child's "lack of organization skills", shutting down when harassed in the classroom and my child falling behind on assignments that had no accommodations for an IEP. I was told that I needed to "fix the issues" at home because they "only have the student for 45 minutes a day and just don't have the time to give special attention to a student who is falling behind or can't keep up"...their words not mine. In each meeting I heard only complaints from teachers, but was not offered ANY solutions. We also had two group meetings, with my child and I present, and three of the teachers in each meeting proceeded to berate my child in front of us both. After the last group meeting, one of the teachers started bullying my child in the classroom with derogatory comments on her character...in front of the other students in the class! When I brought the issue to my child's school IEP representative and the principal, I was told that the only solution would be to remove my child from that class and "move on" from the experience. There would be NO repercussions to the teacher for her behavior or comments. She would not even be spoken to regarding her behavior. I removed my child from the school the next week. Now my child attends East Valley Academy and is making As and Bs. After removing my child I went back to the school to pick up the year book and was treated extremely rude by the bookstore attendant. When I opened the year book I saw that the theme for the year was "Inmates of Dobson High". It was a very appropriate theme, as the children are treated like criminals. This conclusion comes from my observations in the hallways and while waiting in the parking lot for my child after school. Most of the children came out of the buildings after school looking dejected and stressed. High school should be one of the greatest experiences in a child's life. Instead, Dobson High School is sending children out in the world feeling like they are less than worth the effort to be educated. I do NOT recommend this school for any student. read more

Fuck sweep. Pointless. Literally was a couple min late to first per. and got sent to sweep where I did nothing but sit and think for a whole hour. It doesn't make sense as they've explained they want to set us up for real jobs, as if I'm going to be late for something that pays or something I'm passionate for. This school was in our district when we moved to Chandler. Our daughter will be starting HS next year and so we went to check it out. They offer a lot of electives and the school seemed very interested in helping our daughter further her education. After a long consideration we chose a boundary exception and went to another school. My daughter felt the hallways a bit confining (changing classes seems like it would be a massive cluster) and it rated lower that the HS we chose in the long run. Seems like a lot of caring people work there and it could be a pleasant experience for most kids. read more

This school seems more focused on the sexualization of girls legs and shoulders rather than our education. This is coming from someone who has never been dress coded, but sees it all the time. They also lock you up like a caged animal at lunch and it is over flowing with students, there is no where to sit, you're forced to sit in the hot sun and on the floor. This is not well planned at all. I do not recommend this school to anyone. read more
