The worst Funeral Home I have ever dealt with. Live in another state. Tried to find out information about my Mother's death and would not tell me anything about her. They are the worst people to deal with. No compassion for someone who has lost someone. Relatives here, where I live wanted to also go to the site where she was to be buried, would not give any information out. Horrible, horrible people. Hope someday they all rot!! read more

I am The Sister Of A Deceased After 1 1/2 Months My Brother's Body Remains At Dobies. I Had Originally Paid For A Cremation And Ashes Shipped Home To Me. His Adult Kids Did Not Have Funds. Then I Retracted The Payment Learning The Medical Examiner Was Not Releasing His Dignity For Cremation. Undetermined COD. Later Six Weeks Later After Speaking With The Medical Examiner My Brother's Dignity Was Ready For Cremation. I Spoke With The Director And Everything Was Fine. Waited All Day For A Contract Then Wanted To Pay Again. The Director Never Got Back To Me With Any Contract. Then I Find Out My Brother's Daughter She Will Pay Out Of Her Taxes. What Taxes. She's On Welfare ? A Real Pasco Scene. Very Typical. Emailed The Director Three More Times. Still Ignored. I Expressed Earlier In The Day I Was Going For A Nine Months Job Assignment Far From My Home and Wish To take Care Of My Brother's Expenses And Give Him Dignity In Our Family Plot Out Of State. Where Is These People Common Sense ? Either Until The Daughter Gets A Job And Has Over A Thousand In Tax Returns Or The Son Gets The Money From His Taxes Providing Those Kids Can Accomplish That. My Brother Will Remain Without Dignity For Perhaps Many Months To Come. At The Least I Would Have Expected Was The Director To Speak With The Kids And Give The Reality Checks. I want to start by saying we had our catastrophe at the Dobies in Hudson, FL. That being said, where do I begin? First of my Father had his entire funeral Prepaid/arranged prior to his passing, I was with him when he did this and at the time thought ughh. Now however after the fact even though it was so screwed up by Dobies, in particular Mr. Krege that it is beyond words. First of they wanted to have my Father's viewing done in a Hospital gown, when we told them we would bring clothes in they acted like this was a huge inconvenience. The day of my Father's viewing, we were called while we were enroute to be informed they were running 30 min late, when in fact it was Mr Krege that was running late and he didn't even need to be there! The only reason he wanted to be there was so he could bring me (the only child) into a nasty back office and question me for 30+minutes, mind you this could have been done the day before when we dropped off clothes, but NO, he had to do it while my family & friends were waiting on me. At one point my husband even came looking for me, because I was gone so long. At which point I asked/said, Is this really necessary, this entire thing was pre arranged shouldn't it be in his paperwork? Mr Krege's reply was "You can go back out there if you feel you need to!" (very hateful) I told him No, I've been back here this long let's just get this done. All of these questions were stupid irrelevant and did not need to be done right then!! I should have been out with my family mourning my Father, NOT being interrogated!! On to the viewing they did a decent job dressing my Father and making him look the best he could, however my Father had prepaid for a rental coffin, he was laid out on a hospital style gurnee with a nasty woolen type blanket over him that looked as if it hadn't been washed in as many years as it was old! (I did not know about the prepaid coffin till later on when I accidentally found out by going through his paper work) I was also never asked about an obituary which my father paid for and also he paid for 5 death certificates, I asked for 10, and was charged for all of them. But here's the real kicker... they wanted to charge me $69 to put my Father's cremains into our Urn.. I was like, No, that's rediculous!! you have to put them into something any way, what difference does it make if it's my container or yours?? The day after the viewing we brought said Urn in, and they were very abrupt, basically took it, said sign here and walked away. Not once was I told Sorry for your loss, condolences etc. Never!!! The day we came in to pick up his cremains, we came in and we're told Mr Krege was running about 20 min late would we want to wait.. sure!!! we're getting used to it at this point!! We were escorted into an office where PLOP there in the middle of the table were setting my Father's cremains. NO ONE handed them to me, expressed any type of sorrow, nothing!!! Oh and by the way sign here and he'll be with you shortly.. He walked by a while later and were over heard him say " Oh she was here yesterday and was not happy!" Gee- Ya think!!?? Hell no I'm not happy, I and my entire family not to mention my Father have been treated with no respect, no dignity, no compassion, I don't think many people would be happy! While we were waiting on him to grace us with his presence, I got the opportunity to go thru his file which they conveniently left sitting out. THIS, is when I found out about the prepaid rental coffin, obituary, death certificates, and the $69 charge to fill our Urn. I brought All this to Mr Kreges attention once he came in, and once again he got hateful with us. My Father's girlfriend told him she had arranged numerous prepaid funerals and none of them were done this unprofessionally, his reply was "I've been doing this for over 60 years!!" Well all I can say to that is I feel sorry for all the people he's delt with over the last 60 years & I guess he's been unprofessional for that long as well!!! After this meeting we were basically escorted to the door... Had to come back a few days later to pick up the death certificates and actually met Mr Dobie, while waiting, He was a very kind man, He asked if we had been helped, We said yes. He asked if we had a loved one taken care of? We said Yes. He asked How everything went? I said, It was fine.... (just wanting to get out of there without having to deal with anyone else) He said, ""That doesn't sound like a very positive "Fine" to me"" He apologized and seemed sincere, we did find out that Mr Krege had put in his retirement notice so apparently that is why he had such a "I don't give a crap" attitude, he knew he was on short time!! My suggestion to anyone looking to get their loved one taken care of, RUN DO NOT WALK as Far away from Dobies **They even used one of MY death certificates that I paid for to file THEIR insurance claim read more

This place is hell on earth! My mother passed away suddenly and when the hospital asked what Funeral Home we would be using I said the only one I knew. While I was working with an undertaker, Mr. Dobies cam in and instead of offering his sympathies, he tried to hook up the undertaker and me. I was told it would take about 7 days to get my mother's ashes. On the 8th day I called to let them know I would be picking them up the next day, after sitting on hold they came back and told me they were not ready. So 7 days after that I called again, was put on hold again, only to be told that some paperwork was not filed and her ashes still would not be ready. Admittedly, I blew up at this point. My husband had to call them back for me. They did give us a portion of our money back but the stress of losing a loved one is hard enough, this place will only add to it. read more

I guess people need to read review on places, even for loved ones passing?? I have buried all my family members and NEVER in all my 70 years have ever dealt with what I did with Dobies. To start it all a few years ago when moving to Holiday we went to seminar and choose Dobies as they seemed like a company that knew what they were doing. SO we switched, or thought we did, from a Lakeland funeral home to Dobies to find out we really didn't??? So fast forward and now my husband passing I find out the papers we signed I guess weren't the paper they were signed on as now told I had to pay all expenses up front and husband could not be cremated for perhaps SEVERAL weeks till all monies were in? SO I paid all up front AGAIN and not happy about it. No one seemed to know anything except Mr. Dobie told me they fired a lot of people over doing stuff wrong and IF I was that unhappy with them I could go else where?? During a grieving time this is NOT what one wants to hear but too bad I didn't do it, things didn't really get better. We go two days later, my daughter and I, they give me back the credit to my credit card and guess they decide they MIGHT be wrong?? Mr. Dobie acted VERY inappropate to my daughter and tells her to take me lunch and get me a drink! When I say I don't drink HE TELLS MY DAUGHTER to put me on the floor and pour it down my throat?? NO LIE!! Shoves $40 in her purse! Than to top all off get the death certificates and parents name spelled wrong? So when I go to pick up ashes the gentleman that I see says DON'T WORRY WE WILL TAKE CARE OF THAT AND IT WILL BE DONE IN A FEW DAYS..So I call 5 days later to find out that isn't true and had to go back to sign more paper work to now find out it could be 5 to 6 WEEKS??? Notice was put in newspaper without them approving what should be on so NO ONE knew there was a memorial even?? Needless to say this really is NOT the place you want to deal with..over priced and under knowledge of what should be going on..BUT he certainly has a lot of money rapped up in his antiques in all his funeral homes...NOT HAPPY..PLEASE PLEASE check out all before going here. I HATE writing this, this is the worse time of someones life to have to deal with this. AND I really doubt he cares, he got his money, and isn't that all it is really about? read more

I had the unfortunate experience of dealing with Mr. Thomas Dobie while arranging a cremation for my brother. I had originally arranged for Dobies Funeral Home to retrieve my brothers body for cremation and paid $951.00 for the services which was charged to my credit card. I then learned of an indigent program which would provide the service at no cost to the family. I called the coroner to inform them that we were applying for the program and then called Mr. Dobie to inform him. He advised me to call him back once we had the approval and he would credit my card back for the charge. This all transpired in about an hours time. I called Mr. Dobie again once we received the approval and learned that he had already retrieved the body. When I asked who had approved it, Mr. Dobie began to scream at me, at the top of his lungs, stating, "We have done everything we can for you people! Someone had to give us the approval or else we wouldn't have picked him up! I am doing a funeral for a 20 year old girl right now...!" I asked him why he was yelling at me and he just continued to rant at the top of his lungs, I hung up. He then called my greiving mother lying about the entire conversation, stating that I had gotten "huffy" with him and he had to get huffy right back. He stated that he had credited my mastercard but it has yet to be credited. I do not wish for anyone else to go through this experience during an already difficult time of their lives.
