Is not usually a fan of massive garden centres which are more like 'everythingrolledintoonesuperstores' such as this, but I was in need of a million spring flowering bulbs for my front garden since my mother decided she was going to pay someone to dig up all my trees (mental woman) and as we were on a gander through Southport and surrounding areas we saw a sign and followed it all the way here.
I did get a bargain on bulbs, a sack full of mixed daffodils for £9.99 and fill a bag of crocus's for £4.99. As I was filling my bag (not my actual bag, but a paper bag provided by the garden centre, if it was my bag it would have been too heavy to carry!) of crocus's a lady walked past and cheerfully shouted "go on, fill it up, get as many as you can in there, don't leave any gaps!" so I did. It turned out to be a balancing act!
While I was there they had a sale on bird tables, which I am desperate for one, but typically we were driving in Adam.Y's miniature car today and not my van so out of luck on that one!
Back to what I meant at the start about everything rolled into one, when you walk in you don't see plants of flowers or gardening tools or anything else useful for the garden but home furnishings, furniture, foods from around the world, books, cds, pet store, cafes, restaurants, clothes etc etc etc. This annoys me. You have to walk allllll the way through these things to go through a door to find something relating to gardens.
Anyway, putting this to one side, when I finally found the garden centre within the garden centre there was a pretty decent selection and well stocked at that. read more
