I was wanting to see if I could get a placard for me for my husband's car and a disability license plate for my card. The guy s able to get a placard and a license plate for me. ( The placard could also be used in a rental car, should we bring it in a trip.). We were almost done taking care of the original items that we had planned to do, when I asked if we could also pay for tag renewal on our other two cars. He was able to help us out with those two items, too. I was glad that he was able to help us out with getting husband's and son's tags! Poorly organized, tricky website. And not only website…read more We wanted to pay our real estate tax and car sticker renewal. Since links to those two types of payment were next to each other, we expected a quick and smooth transaction. We entered a bank account information to avoid their $3.50 credit card fee and added this to the Cart. Then we tried to add the vehicle payment also to the cart and pay for both with the bank account. No, you can't make those two payments together, a message said. So what's the purpose of the shopping cart, when you can make only one payment at a time? So we paid the real estate tax and then proceeded to separately handle the car payment. We used the same bank account as for the previous transaction. We were asked if we want the sticker to be mailed to us (a 95-cent mailing fee), or will we pick it up in person? We said we will pick it up. So then they suggested three pick-up locations - their main location in Titusville, where we live, in Cocoa (30-min driving for us) or Melbourne (1-hour driving each way). We chose Titusville and were told that this location is not available for pickup (but WHY? It's their main location in Brevard County!). So we chose it to be mailed. But then the system asked us to make an additional payment of 95 cents. And they provided only one way to pay this amount - with credit or debit card. So I entered the credit card number, hoping that this is the payment of only 95 cents for mailing. But no, they then added the car sticker payment to the 95-cent mailing fee and then a $3.50 credit card fee together. So their mess cost us an additional $4.45 payment or a 13% surcharge to our yearly car sticker extension payment. I suspect those people who created this mess are getting paid more than a minimum wage. They should be paid less than that. The DOGE is needed not only for the federal, but also for state governments.

Lee County Tax Collector - Fort Myers Downtown New Resident…read moreDrivers License and Title Transfer - Excellent Experience The internet is loaded with horror stories of going to the Lee County Tax Collector for any services. Some will say you have to make an appointment, others say just walk in, but most will say that you will wait for hours either way. As new residents, we needed to get new FL DL's, transfer the car title to our new FL address and get new car tags (current IL tags expire July 31) so I went on-line to the Tax Collector portal to book an appointment. My closest service center had no openings until August - not good! I did see an opening at the end of July at the Downtown office so I booked it. One of the requirements to transfer the title is to have FL car insurance as out of state does not count, so I just finished setting that up. Rather than wait for my appointment and possibly have something go wrong, I grabbed our documentation and we headed to the Tax Collector as walk-ins. We got to the Merchants Crossing office at 2:00 and were told that no more walk-ins allowed for today as they were booked, so we headed downtown. No problem parking right at their building. Followed the signs to the check-in counter and just one person in front of us. Maybe 1 minute later we were being taken care of by a very nice lady. She checked some of our documents and as we were both getting new licenses, we each had a customer ticket number. Before we could sit down, our phones had text messages welcoming us to the center and what our ticket number was. Maybe we were there five minutes and my wife's number was called. Another text message telling us what window to go to. We got to the window and they said they would do us both right in that same area. We had a slight documentation issue which a supervisor helped us resolve. The ladies helping us were great. Personable and efficient. We both got our new licenses and they set us up for priority at the license plate and title window. Maybe another minute or two wait and we were called to the license plate window. Another very nice lady took care of that business and we were on our way. Maybe we were lucky and went at the right time. We don't really care. We completed our mission quickly with the help of some very nice people. This will be our go to office from here out. Thanks ladies! And then another text with a survey on customer satisfaction. Right on!

This review is for the Florida DMV section of the North County Government Service Center…read more Needing to get a new driver license since moving to FL, this location was conveniently located near the jobsite. Looking online for needed documents also alerts you that you need to make an appointment which is a fairly simple process. I made my appointment and headed over at the appropriate date / time. The DMV office is located inside the County center, along with a variety of other county functions, like the courthouse and real estate tax collectors etc. There is a big sign over the Check-in window on the side of the building where you need to go first to get checked in and get your number. The number is important because that is what they are going to call to get you to the correct service type window. Because it is inside a courthouse location, you will have to enter through the metal detectors and all that goes along with that- all metal items in the bucket, that kind of thing. The signage inside is a bit wanting to be fair, but the super-helpful deputies around the metal detectors pointed out the way. I found the DMV waiting room and grabbed a seat. The process is automated, and you hang out until they call your letter/number combination and tell you what window to report to. Total wait time from appointment to being called was 25 minutes. The DMV clerk was very nice, and we got the proper documentation squared away and processed in good order - then the computer decided to act-up, so we had to do the process again. Second time the supervisor joined us, and the computer was still acting up, and the supervisor took over and we moved the entire thing to another clerk. We got everything working and license issued. They were also very helpful with getting me set-up to get the license plates that I will also need, but first I need to get some preliminary documentation, from my previous State. They had the forms put together for me and we'll see how that part of the process goes once the old State does what they have to do. Total time in the DMV was 1.5 hours which in the big scheme of things, is not horrible, and would have been about half of that, had their computer systems been working better. Knowledgeable workers (and that supervisor was truly on top of things). Overall, I thought it was a very good experience and hopefully the vehicle registration goes as well.
