Unless you have time to waste, don't come here. I made an appointment so I could avoid the usual long lines at DMV. I showed up 10 minutes early for my appointment. I was so shocked to see a line out the door for people waiting to come in the DMV. They said the workers were at lunch until 1, yet everyone in the line had an appointment at 1pm. It was about 40 degrees outside and me and about 25 other people all sat there until they got back from lunch and slowly let one person in at a time. Once I got in there, things moved a little faster. Check in was easy. You show your appointment confirmation email and they send you to a cubicle number to sort out your information. That was all quick, but waiting to take the picture took about 25 minutes. The first 15 minutes of that time was spent waiting in line at the next cubicle desk for the girl to look my way and the line's way forming behind me. When she finally noticed us, there was about 4 or 5 people behind me. We took our pictures and waited for the ID to print. Man was I dreading having to visit the DMV but the experience went fine! The most important thing is to HAVE AN APPOINTMENT. My wife and I made appointments to update our driver's licenses at 8:10am (they open at 8am). When I arrived just before 8:00, there was a long line at the door. When the DMV opened, they announced that appointments could come forward but that walk ins would need to wait. Walk ins were also told that the chances of getting service were really due to the DMV being very short staffed. We were called up at 8:20am, so the wait wasn't very long. We handed over our documents, and within 10 minutes, we were sent to the photographer. Pictures were snapped, licenses printed, and that was it. We were out the door by 8:45. The staff was very nice even though I know they have thankless jobs. Give them some smiles and say thank you a lot! read more

What is going on with our State Agencies? The entire administration should be held accountable and an inquiry into how funds are used should be conducted. I will be contacting my representatives about how poorly this operation is run. I've been calling all week to pay a fine and have been unable to get anyone to answer the phones. I've never worked so hard to give away money in my life. This entire operation is a racket of some sort and a complete waste of tax dollars (and penalty dollars) and reflects on how horrible this administration is! For the first time someone answered the phone today then said they would transfer me. After waiting on hold another 1/2 hour I received a recording that the person at that extension was not taking voicemails then the line shut off. Horrible Service! read more

Jesus Christ it is 3/11/2020 I have been calling the number for 2 days now to pay a fee, I mean what is going on.. I started calling at 9am only to be told over and over by a machine to call back. I finally get through on 3/11/2020 after holding for 30 minutes, The lady said how may i help you? I said yes ma'am I need to my restatement fees she said OK let me transfer you over I have been waiting on hold since 1:35 pm EST its now 2:34 pm EST.. I am afraid to hang up so i just have it open on speaker phone at my Desk here in DC.. I made appointment for my granddaughter to get her ID, the young lady that was directing clients were very nasty and condescending, when you are dealing with the public you should have good customer service skills which she had none. My appoint was scheduled for 3:30 she never said wait for your name to be called or I will let you know when to go to next available window, one client came in after me with appointment for 3:40 went to next available so when the other window came open I went, she walked over to me after the lady had taken my paper work and put my information in computer, I was told to go have a seat, and everybody came in after me was all seen before me and was out the building before me, guess that was my punishment, but what do you expect from someone who wears flip flops to work when working with general public, should have stayed in school and got an education, sorry to the nice lady that took the picture, such beautiful and pleasant personality, one bad apple do spoil the whole bunch. read more

We only had to turn in a license plate here, so I can't really review the whole place. It was extremely busy when we arrived. We had three people in front of us in line, but it moved quickly. At the desk we were able to return the license plate without having to take a number and wait. So we were in and out within 5 minutes. I was prepared to have to wait much longer. read more

I always recommend arriving 15-20 minutes as their normally is a line to get In. It's like Black Friday but for DMV type line sometimes. If you get there early enough once they open the wait is t super awful. I've never went during the evening but I've gone past two morning and it's been super quick. Getting license & new out of state plates. Lady that help me was super nice and helpful as well! read more

BEWARE!! They do random emission test before letting anyone in to park. I refused because the most recent emission test was last month and is not due until 9/2015. I ask them "Are you certified to check emission?" I don't trust them, what if they actually put problems in the car. And they said yes and I told them "Did you realize mine inspection is not due until 9/2015, there is a proof right on the window". Actually wasted 20 minutes of my time, the police officer was with them and they all crossed their eyes and let me go through. I got out and one guy who is an environmental scientist gave me the card. He works for Louisiana Department of Environment Quality (Office of Environmental Compliance). It is nice of them for doing this but it is not necessary as it is very time consuming. I work overnight shift, so I'm very not happy about this. When I arrived there, I forgot my passport so I went home to get it. Then I came back but parked in different spot. So watch out for it if you care about time. People that work at this place are really friendly. read more

What can I say? It's the DMV. No one wants to be here, especially the employees. They call your number over a loudspeaker and show it on a digital screen. There are going to be A LOT of people here. I'm talking hundreds. Get here as early as you can, otherwise you will be waiting a while. The only real positive is that you can eavesdrop on lots of people (if that's your thing). For example "Baby's these days are just smarter. You can look in their eyes and just tell...they know stuff". On second thought, get there very early and avoid the wait. read more

On Friday, July 14 I had the best experience at the OMV in Baton Rouge. I arrived, prepared for the worst; I needed to transfer my driver's license and vehicle registration from the state of New Hampshire. Everything I had heard was negative. Naturally, when I arrived at 7:30 and saw about 20-25 people in front of me I started to feel defeated. When the doors opened, I got my number and took a seat. In approximately 5-10 minutes, my number was called {while I was scanning the internet for meme's about the OMV - again, preparing for the wait}. I went to the window/desk I was called to and was greeted by the lovely, incredibly patient, and extremely helpful Parnice. She was kind, compassionate, and willing to make sure I walked out of the OMV with every goal I had set, accomplished. Another sign of Parnice's exemplary customer service was her willingness to assist someone she had worked with the previous day and not make them wait. All around, I went to the OMV expecting horrible service and extremely high prices; yet walked out with top notch service and prices lower than most other states I have lived in! This review is actually for the DMV in Baker. Recently I went there for the first time. I had just moved to Baton Rouge from NY with an expired drivers license. I was expecting long wait times, written & driving tests and rude employees but that is NOT what I experienced at the Baker DMV. Every person I encountered was friendly and very helpful. In less than 20 minutes of my arrival, I was walking out the door with my new Louisiana drivers license in hand. It was the first time I've ever had a pleasant experience at the DMV...and I've been driving for many years. read more

I'm honestly not sure how I feel about the place, I went early in the morning and arrived at 8:30am and there honestly were a lot of people there which did not surprise me being that it's a DMV and a lot people generally don't like it being so crowded but I personally didn't mind. The wait to replace my missing Driver ID actually wasn't a lot because the way they have the call out system works is on a board they call out a generated number and each set of numbers deal with different things so my ID was (A0020) for ID Replacement express and someone else was (E0001) for something completely different, which cuts down the potentially huge wait time to simply a hour, now has nearly I would of given this review a 4 star but the problem I feel that it wasn't a great experience was due to the *Last* part of my process which was paying for my ID and waiting to receive it. After getting my picture taken, some others and myself included ended up waiting an additional 30 minutes before being able to get our hands on our cards, as the cards only take less then 5 minutes to create. The lady operating the machine is not at fault being that she worked the register and the ID machine and got swamped, they just need more people at the register and ID machine. The people who assisted me with my request for a ID replace was generally the best I've ever had and even hads few laughs with them, and I've honestly never seen "human" beings before in a DMV before, as they've normally been heartless robots when I first went to a DMV to get my first license. read more

You go in knowing what to expect, but hoping for better, but did not happen. Got a number and had a seat and actually surprisingly got called pretty quickly. Lady that helped us to try to get my daughter's learner's permit was informative but of course less than friendly. We complete our dealings with her, she tells us to hang on to our original number that now she is putting us into the "Testing" cue. We have a seat. She goes to lunch. An hour and ten minutes passes. I approach the front desk and ask if there is any way to just get an idea where we are on the list. The lady with a deputy on each side utters one word, "Number." I give it to her. She then tells me that number has been deleted and that I didn't respond when called.. I try to explain to her that we had been called by that number and were told it would be called again, she angrily peeled off a new number and said angrily, again,, and I quote, "Take your seat!" One employee had not done her job and the other could not have been more rude. They wonder why every show from Seinfeld to Two and a Half Men to Saturday Night Live and more have made them the joke that they are. They are exactly as they are portrayed. read more
