It is So Worth It to visit Natchitoches at Christmas time. The Christmas Festival of Lights on the Cane River is going on right now.......Beautiful, Beautiful Beautiful! Merci Beaucoup Gift Shop was all Decked Out for Christmas. The floral arrangements are Exquisite. This is a Specialty Boutique Gift Shop. They carry one-of -a kind collectibles & gifts. The Nativity Scenes are Absolutely Gorgeous! I couldn't leave without picking up a Mark Roberts Christmas Elf. .......I think he might need a friend.........I wanted them All. They are Fun & Comical..... the facial detail is Superb! The Mark Roberts Christmas Fairies are really cute as well. The RUSTIC cheese platters, Rustic Christmas Ornaments, Rustic / Woodsy Decorated Christmas Trees & Pewter serving pieces are my Favorite. I'm a sucker for Rustic / Lodge Anything. She knew a lot of the area and was able to recommend a great restaurant to eat meat pies (a local favorite and Natchitoches is known for). She also sold us some tasty little pralines (pronounced praw-leens in the South). If you're looking for friendly staff and a quaint, everything Louisiana store in a quaint little town, this is the place to shop. It's a little on the small side, but every inch of that store is filled with items for purchase.

On our last trip, my teen son went by himself one day and was short a few coins on a purchase. The cashier spotted him. So, we made sure to go back the next day and nab a few souvenirs and gifts. They have an adorable collection of crystal birds. I now have a cute crystal bee hanging above my kitchen sink. They also sell many beautiful scents. Can't go to Natchitoches without bringing home the scent of magnolias. I highly recommend going sometime other than Christmas. The Lights Festival is a blast. Enjoy that. But go again when things are slower, and you can park down by the river and talk with all the shopkeepers.

Plantation Treasures is located on the historic Front Street that borders Cane River Lake. The staff was very friendly. I bought a Fleur d' Lis cheese/butter knife. When I went to check out, the woman at the register said that she wanted to go into the back to pull out a nicer one that didn't any of the sticky stuff that would eventually come off with the price tag. I thought that was really nice. She didn't have to do that at all. She wrapped it in tissue paper too. My Stepmom had to return something the next day. We were running late and would arrive after they had closed for the day (5:00 p.m.). The lady she spoke with on the phone agreed to stay late until we arrived so my Stepmom could make an exchange. Now that's customer service. The funny thing is, we had called earlier that day to see how late they were open. The lady replied that they usually close at 5:00 p.m., but will stay open as long as need be if they are busy.

The ice cream line was a bit long because they make other cold treats, too. It's all good because we didn't have a lot going on and was thankful they were open that day, so I was patient. The family and I were visiting Natchitoches for the weekend and of course thought of getting a memorabilia of some sort. I'm not that big of a shopper and don't like collecting things. Well he did deliver it but OMG it was the saddest looking thing I ever saw. We were so disappointed that we wouldn't even hang it on the door because we were so ashamed of it. Ended up going to the gift shop and bought another one which wasn't great but better than this one. Beware because these folks ain't got a clue.
