He would be involved, bring props, participate in leading the congo line, whatever we wanted! Well, I was tremendously disppointed and would never use them again. Let me share why I (the bride, groom, wedding planner and other attending the wedding) were dissatisfied at our wedding in 2014. 1) DJ was drinking (A family friend and the bride observed the DJ drinking) - how unprofessional is that (4 drinks - at minimum) and it was a strong alcoholic lemonade). 2) DJ did not play songs requested (I, Mother of the Groom and the Bride had to continuously go up to the DJ to remind him what we wanted, what songs, we wanted the conga line, etc). as GUESTS WERE LEAVING. It was NOT a fun wedding - despite the list of fun music I provided. DJ couldn't find songs in his box of cd's. Bride was very disappointed. 3) We were promised props - I had to go up and remind the DJ about them - he forgot all about them he said (because he looked a little "glassy eyed, perhaps)? 4) DJ was not interactive - with the crowd - as he promised. Instead, he was like a shy, puppy dog in the corner. WE had to constantly ask for everything that we had previously given him a list to do. 5) Mother of the Bride MISSED completely the Bridal Dance and the Grooms Dance (which were a flop as the DJ did not encourage people to go up, dance and have fun). I had to be checking my list and asking the DJ to do just about everything. The stress added to me was tremendous and certainly unprofessional and unacceptable. What a disappointment this service was. This was my one and only son, and the music/dj were a "not was was promised at all". Guests, friends and family commented and were disappointed as well. I asked for a phone call, email or something to discuss this, like grown adults.. The DJ hung up on me when I did reach him. If he had some terrible life event, that caused this mayhem, I could have understood. But no response whatsoever, pushed me to share this review. Goodluck and my advice, find another DJ service.

The equipment was high end and sounded professional. Wedding attendees are all so varied in their tastes and hard to please. The Ultimix DJs read the crowd well and kept everyone dancing. Ultimix provided a beautiful formal ceremony format along with a cocktail- reception format to make it a complete wedding entertainment package. You get a lot of bang for the buck with these seasoned professional DJs.

He has a very simple and efficient set up with lights and sound systems. What was really impressive for us were the music videos that he played that went with the music. Once we saw that and saw/heard his transitions we knew he was the DJ we wanted. We had an unusual theme for our wedding, we did a costume theme "Talk Nerdy to Me" and Paul was not only happy to work with us, but he also had some awesome ideas on how to truly make it our own. With the video screen package, he was able to do movie/you tube clips and a slide show. When it came to getting strange and unusual music, Paul was able to do it with no issues. We asked for quite a few songs that were not in his database including traditional Chinese and Estonian Country music and he was able to get it with no issues. His online planning system made it really easy for us to put our Ceremony and Reception plan together. All of my guests LOVED the music choices. Part of it was our doing in putting together a song list, and part of it was Paul reading the party and playing accordingly. He even accommodated my niece's request for the Hokie Pokie. Don't take my word for it, Weddings are not the gigs he does in the DC area. Watch him in action and see for yourself. I feel that if other businesses book him on a regular basis, he is probably a good choice for your wedding. I am really glad I acted on this assumption, and had a chance to work with Paul. He has my highest recommendations.

At the last minute, he wasn't going to be able to get his equipment out to us in time so I found Paul and reached out to him. Paul told me he was available and met with us in person. He was reasonably priced and we couldn't have lucked out better for a last minute booking. Even though our friend couldn't DJ, Paul let him do all of the introductions which was really sweet. He even let our friend take the reigns and do a couple songs! Paul never felt like our friend was stepping on his toes and we really appreciated that he let us do that. Paul kept the party going from the beginning. I've had so many people since the end of our wedding telling me how great our DJ was. We had a weird mix of twenty somethings and sixty somethings with not much in between. Even still, Paul was able to judge the crowd and keep people dancing. I don't think there was a second all night long that people weren't all over the dance floor! His online portal is very straight forward and easy to use. I was able to put in many details and everything we wanted to hear was played at our wedding. Paul is also not one of those DJs that keeps interrupting songs to talk. He knew when it was appropriate to interject and when it wasn't. My husband commented that this was one of his favorite things about Paul: his professionalism on and off the dance floor. Definitely consider Paul Surreal Entertainment for your next event - you won't regret it!
