My wife and I went through the build process with UBuildIt in 2018-2019. Our house was completed…read moreNovember of 2019. To say that I was pleased with UBuildIt doesn't even begin to describe the process. Everyone at UBuildIt is a true professional and is incredibly helpful and transparent. We had the pleasure of working directly with Jamie as our planning consultant and Frank as our general contractor. They were always there to answer our questions and were available to us at all times throughout the build process. They help from day one with lot identification and evaluation all the way to your final inspection. Unfortunately, they won't help you move all of your personal items into your wonderful new house! However, they are there to support you in any way that they can. Joe, UBuildIt owner, even helped me 'break' into our house when the key from our lock box got mistakenly left in a completely locked house. I don't know many other company owners that will do that for you (on a Sunday morning nonetheless). One of the big differences between UBuildIt and other 'traditional' builders is that they offer their services on a flat fee basis. Thus, they truly have your best interests as a homeowner at heart. They make the same amount of money whether you buy a $10,000 toilet or a $10 one. That's not true of other builders. Their process is very well-refined. They are experts in the construction business and will provide tons of value throughout the design and build process. Most new home owners have unrealistic budget expectations. UBuildIt provides their guidance and advice to keep you on budget and let you know when your expectations aren't necessarily realistic. The network of preferred subcontractors UBuildIt has established who will actually build your house are just as fantastic as they are. If you are interested in building a house, I highly suggest that you contact UBuildIt for a consult. You will not be disappointed. I have absolutely 0 regrets for choosing UBuildIt for our project.

We were so turned off at the initial meeting that we opted to continue searching for builders, and apparently, the representative we met with opted not to work with us, either. In short, we met with her for one hour and she took four...FOUR...personal phone calls within that time frame. We didn't say anything about it at the time, but no customer should have to tell a prospective builder how unprofessional that is. I can see maybe one phone call if it is urgent, but nothing about her personal calls seemed catastrophic enough to interrupt a meeting for. Strike one. We had received a PDF pamphlet of information with testimonials from previous customers. One customer had built a house which looked almost exactly like what we were looking for, within the price range we are staying in. Great, right? Wrong. During our meeting, the person we met with said that pamphlet is not only for their Oklahoma branch, and "prices are a lot cheaper in Oklahoma so we can't build for that cheap", but the pamphlet is also 8 years old? Why did you send it to us, then?! Strike two. Strike three happened when we told the rep the price range we wanted to stay in, between house building and land. The look on her face and the "well, there's no way we can build within that price range" statement that followed was enough. We have met with several builders over the last year, and our price range has been perfectly compatible for everyone else. Nonetheless, we cordially finished the meeting and we asked her to send us information on their simplest model house, thinking that maybe, just MAYBE, we would keep this company on the table. She said she would email the info to us the next day. She never did. We never heard from her again after our initial meeting. We felt this lady was nothing short of rude and insulting. Will not even consider U Build It after our meeting with her.

Aligned on a quote for a complete removal, reframing, and refinishing of patio stairs in May and insisted on 50% down at that time to secure a timeslot on their schedule. After repeated delays, the owner John finally showed up to start the project in August. He proceeded to demo the stairs (as well as damage exterior siding in the process) and then stated that there was water damage that he was not comfortable dealing with and that he would finish the work after a restoration service repaired the OSB. We had a restoration expert replace the boards and when we called John to finish the stairs he committed to a date. The day before he was supposed to show up, he emailed to say that he was no longer available to finish the project. When we asked about a refund for the down payment, he insisted that the time spent demo'ing the stairs consumed the 50% down. The quote was for 12 hours of labor and all he did was remove 3 stairs that were already falling apart. I've heard from another client who said I got off lucky because the work he actually did at their house was shoddy and required repair shortly after. Buyer beware!

We had a specific plan that was a bit "outside the box" from what the typical customer is looking for in design and foliage. Our goal was to use only unique native Wisconsin plants that came from nearby nurseries to reduce our carbon footprint, without any shrubs, bushes or evergreens. Also, wanted species that would thrive without the use of chemical fertilizers or herbicides. The representatives from the first 3 landscaping companies that came to look at the project seemed confused and unsure on what we were trying to accomplish. Then we came upon Eco Harmony! I mentioned to Mike that we love to explore the trails at Schlitz Audubon Nature Center and were going for that type of vibe. He followed up with a plan and design we loved. Aside from coming up with a design that matched our vision, what really impressed us was how Mike went out of his way to meet with us at less than convenient hours. I typically don't get home from work until 8PM. Mike met with us several times in the later evening to finalize plans. His patience and easy going approach were much appreciated as well. Highly recommend Eco Harmony!
