I initially hired James to pull out a couple of large shrubs in front of my house and add dirt to…read morewhere they were since it dipped underneath them, creating water running toward the house. Based on our conversation seemed relatively minor. Some days later, I got a text at work saying they could start same day. When I got home, the bush was out and more of the front yard was torn up than expected, but what really upset me was the side of the house, where we'd discussed just adding some dirt, was completely torn up. They actually made the slope less steep, and took out a approximately 30 ft by 10 ft area of grass. They left my driveway completely covered in dirt (and then mud when it rained that night). James apologized profusely and said there was a new employee working for him that day, and that he'd fired him. James apologized to my neighbor as they ripped up some of her yard too. He put down more grass seed and then promised he'd check up on it every few days. He never came back again. I watered it daily but it did not grow, after reading up on it there should have been peat moss or similar on top to keep the seeds moist and protected from the sun. Over two and a half weeks later I tell him no grass has grown and my yard is a complete dirt and mud pit depending on weather. He says he'll fix it. I follow up in a couple of days, he says he'll come by that day. Texts me later and says it's too muddy at my house. I get home, dirt is 100% dry that day so I know he is lying about coming. I text him he must have me confused with someone else. Don't hear back. I text him again asking him to compensate me for the seed, fertilizer, and straw I had to purchase myself to cover reseeding my entire side yard (and part of neighbors) grass that was needlessly destroyed. I would love to sod it but the area was so large it is prohibitively expensive. I've noticed James has some good reviews, but all of them were done by him by looking them over. He did not do my work, he had employees that did. He said it was someone's first day and that they were fired. I didn't want anyone fired, it's not the employees fault that James wasn't there to make sure they understood the job on their first day. He admitted to me and my neighbor that the side yard did not need to be bulldozed, but it was, and he apologized. Through text he promised repeatedly to fix the issue, but due to inconsistency and lying I made the decision to reseed myself before it got too late in the year to do so, since I could not count on him getting out in time. I've asked to be reimbursed for supplies and have gotten no response.

After receiving several quotes, we decided to hire Mr. Blankenship and crew. Two men arrived and…read moregot to work. The tore down the old wall, dug up the stones from around what used to be a "flower bed area", and rebuilt the wall using the same stones. The stones were in great shape so no reason to buy new ones. The wall looks great and will hopefully remain standing for many decades. The leftover stones were stacked by the garage. We had one miscommunication that happened regarding the length of the wall. My husband and I were gone during the day trusting that the crew would complete the work as we expected and had discussed with Mr. Blankenship. Unfortunately, they ended the wall short by several feet so had to return to extend it the rest of the way. They were not prepared with fill dirt either and when it rained the next day, the loosened dirt just compacted and look terrible as it separated from the wall, so we ended up getting our own. Good thing we had a truck at the time. Because of this, I will say I expected a partial refund, but none was received. Oh well. The wall is holding up fine, looks great, the grass seed has flourished, and I no longer have a dangerously leaning wall.

The install side was straight forward and there were only a few issues that they forgot to address when the concrete was poured. All in all, I was satisfied with their work until after I went to get a permit to build onto a separate pad that they poured. The city informed me that it did not meet code and when speaking with Biff on how to remedy the issue, he stated that he would review the code and let me know how we can fix it. Unfortunately, this was our last communication as Biff refused to respond to any communication efforts. I emailed, texted, and called over a dozen times during a 2 month period and received not even a courtesy call in response. To ghost a customer that had paid for a pad that can't be used shows an extreme lack of integrity and professionalism.
