There's even a back corner that is currently being rented by a painting class! The absolute best part about Urban Garage = free gift wrap!!! And it's the loveliest paper, colors and presentation! What a beautiful touch of you're looking for a gift (and card!)- the ladies here do everything for you! I thought this was going to be all vintage, but there's a lot of women's clothing. I wish they had a wider range of sizes as they seem to target a younger crop top crowd. It also seems like they have absolutely every item out on the same floor, so some things don't feel special. The jewelry is very cool- a mixture of upcycled pieces and pieces clearly bought in bulk. They have a gorgeous stationery section and their candles are unique (and make great gifts!) I'm not sure they've yet found their niche as everything seems a bit everywhere. Candlesticks = $18 for a box of two, brass necklace = $48, lamp = $225. I didn't love how one of the gals was trying to sell me with her toxic positivity. It's one thing to be excited about what you're selling but it's another to tell you "everyone NEEDS one of these!" Their naughty cards are hilarious. I bought a few of those as well as a necklace and candlesticks! Thank you friends!

My friend Denise, a newer Michigan resident introduced me to this gem of a store. It's a collection of vintage pieces and antique furniture with a bit of modern newness sprinkled throughout- there's kid clothes and toys that are bought from elsewhere and brought in. The owners have an eye for beautiful things- there's something here for every room of your house and even outside your house too! Pricing is moderate. I found a gorgeous brass candle holder for $40 and also passed on some artwork that was $175. They have 2 bathrooms while you're shopping that are spacious and clean. Parking is incredibly easy right out front on their property. The pulling out is a bit scary as this shop is on a bend in the road. The gal working was in constant communication with the owners while we were asking questions about some of the pieces. It was nice that they were on top of their things! I wish they had more of a vintage jewelry selection, but my friend and I both walked away with a few things for our homes!

My local Burlington in Benton Harbor has been a consistent exception in the last year or so. The store isn't perfectly organized and the low amount of staff has forced the changing rooms to be closed (which can make buying items tough if you are in between sizes depending on brands). Despite the imperfections, they have lots of size, style and color options for all clothing types for reasonable prices, which is a big draw. I have also found makeup wipes, colognes/perfumes, a large bag for traveling, and hats for cheap in the last few months. If you need clothes and are on a budget, Burlington is has good bargains to help fill your closet.

We are always on the look out for infant sizes, and seeing the words "Baby Depot" on the building, we skeptically checked the store out after a Friday morning breakfast. The interior was huge, clean, & brightly lit, with racks upon racks of clothes. The baby sizes were to the center rear of the store. We located several brand name (Carter's) outfits the full retail price of which would have cost us $50, and Burlington charged $10. The outfits' stitching looked good, there were no defects in color or patterns, and the labels looked genuine. So I don't think we bought counterfeits. We didn't check out the other sections of the store, but observed that things seemed generally well marked, organized, and clean. We don't go to Benton Harbor for breakfast very often, but I think we would check this store out again if we did.
