The customer's 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe was previously painted by DJ's Auto Painting and Collision on September 9, 2013. However, from 2014 to 2015 white faded spots starting to appear on the hood, which became increasingly worse and in December 2015. Thus, I stopped by DJ's Auto Painting and spoke with the owner, Mr. Dave Gerber. I told him I did not want to bother him but asked if the discoloration on the hood was normal. Mr. Gerber said the discoloration was not normal and in his opinion it was the result of his technician rubbing too much clear coat off the hood after his shop had painted my Tahoe. Mr. Gerber then suggested I leave my Tahoe with him so he could repair it. I dropped the Tahoe off on Monday, January 11, 2016 and Mr. Gerber had an employee to give me a ride home. Once the hood was repaired Mr. Gerber stopped by my home on Friday, January 15, 2016 on his way to work and gave me ride to the shop to pick up his Tahoe. Unfortunately, I soon noticed discoloration on the passenger side front door. I really did not want to go back by the shop but the discoloration was becoming increasingly worse. I stopped by DJ's in December 2016 and Mr. Gerber came outside and looked at the passenger side front door. I said I did not want to be bothersome but wanted to get his professional opinion of the discoloration on the passenger front door and a small strip of peeled paint with rust on the top. I also asked Mr. Gerber to let me know if there would be any cost. Again, Mr. Gerber said it was the result of his technician rubbing too much clear coat off the paint. Mr. Gerber requested I leave the Tahoe with him so he could repair the rust spot and the door. I dropped my Tahoe off January 25th, 2017. Mr. Gerber asked if I preferred a rental car or a ride home. In the past, Mr. Gerber had an employee to give me a ride home and he had picked me up when my vehicle was ready while on his way to work because I had another vehicle at home. Mr. Gerber had his seventeen-year-old son give me a ride home. My vehicle was supposed to be ready for pickup on January 27, 2017 and that afternoon I called to check the status and the receptionist told me it would soon be ready and she would send someone to pick me up. When waiting outside for my ride, I was surprised to see Mr. Gerber's seventeen-year-old son driving my Tahoe because this had never happened before. During the ride back to the shop, I politely shared my concern, which I also subsequently shared with the receptionist. I told the receptionist I would had preferred if she or someone had asked me if it was okay for my vehicle to be used to pick me up. I was shared how I was concern because my vehicle was being used to pick me up and a minor was driving it. This had never happened before. I was concerned because I really didn't want the possibility of my vehicle being wrecked. She acknowledged my concern and said she would share the information with Mr. Gerber on Monday morning because he was off on Friday, January 27, 2017. I picked my vehicle up and while driving back home, Mr. Gerber called me on my cell phone. He was very angry, extremely rude and totally disrespectful. He spoke in a loud, vulgar and harsh voice and did not allow the me to speak. Mr. Gerber told me he did not appreciate my voicing concern about his son driving my Tahoe. Mr. Gerber told me he did not need want or need a customer like me and to never come back to his shop. Again, Mr. Gerber was rude, disrespectful and totally unprofessional. In concluding, I would like to address what type of customer I am. I believe I am like any other customer. I paid money with the expectation of receiving quality work and professional services. Each time discoloration appeared on my vehicle, Mr. Gerber specifically told me it was the result of his technician rubbing too much clear coat off my paint after it had been painted. I have had vehicles repaired and painted since 1988 through my insurance approved body shops and has never had to return because of the quality of work. However, to save money, I took my vehicle to DJ's Auto Painting and Collision. It is very unfortunate these actions have transpired because I would have had never imagined this type of behavior and actions from Mr. Gerber. All I wanted and desired was quality work for the services requested and money paid. read more
