Not only are the rooms safe and spacious but they have all the amenities you need and no age restrictions. They have a happy hour for their bar, breakfast, lockers, easy location from train stations, and spacious hostel rooms. I really liked this hostel in Munich so I stayed here twice when coming to Germany and leaving back to home to California. Definitely a must stay!!

I had to run out and do a tour, but when I came back I wanted to take a shower. I asked if I could get a towel and how much it would cost. The front desk lobby mentioned that they do provide them free-of-cost, but that they were out. This was rather striking considering they offer lodging and washing rooms. I also had to wait until 2pm for check-in, but when going to my shared room, I had to put on the bed sheet and pillow case. I've only stayed at one other hostel, but the experience was more pleasant elsewhere.

Connections to centre of Munich are great (in case of using train it's S7), the hostel is approximately 10 mins away from the station. Burg Schwaneck is a romantic castle right next to the river surrounded with a park, where you can play games, table tennis or make new friends. Inside of hotel is partly renovated, so the interior is a mix of modern and old. In right part you can find some classrooms, dining rooms and a bunch of hidden stairways. The left tile is renovated and here you can find most of the rooms. They are newly furnitured and comfortable but don't expect any luxury - at the end this is a hostel not a five-point-star hotel. Rooms and bathrooms are clean, so is the whole building. In third floor you have a cafe with internet, some books, TV and table games. In ground floor you can find kitchen if you're in need of making some snacks by yourself:) Otherwise breakfasts are tasty, so are dinners. I was there during summer while attanding a language school, so expect a group of teenagers (14-17)from all over the world. At that time also a summer camp for nearby kids was organised so the atmosphere was really lovely:) I recommend this hostel for young families, couples... If you're a party animal in search for some crazy nights in beer city that's probably not the best option to stay:)

Here is the review I would have written: As it seems to be a converted hotel, the place is pretty nice. The room that I was in was a moderately large hotel room with three bunk beds. The rooms are as expected bare but good. The room has a bathroom with a shower, a communal closet, and storage for each bed. The bathrooms are nice and well kept. The place overall tries to be hip and young. The lobby has couches and a bar that always seems half closed, but there is seating. There are places to work and a few computers to use. The basement has the cafeteria for breakfast. Overall I am happy with the place; it is nice, reasonably priced, and Now to the post bed bugs review. When I showed the person at the desk an image of the bed bugs he barely reacted and simply had a look of exasperation. He apologized and gave me a one night refund. He said they would decontaminate the room. From the way, he reacted it seemed like this was quite common. My bigger problem is how it affected the rest of my day. I understand that operating or staying at a hostel means bed bugs are a real possibility. After leaving, I had to spend a few hours of my day to make sure all of my stuff was clean so I didn't take it back home. I would have appreciated a bit more help to prevent spreading them. He offered to let me put my belongings in a common storage room so I could go to the store for some bed bug control; I passed for a number of reasons. For those that are unaware, nearly everything is closed on Sundays in Munich. Because of a number of complications, I ended up spending three hours in a laundromat. To be honest, I am not that mad about the bed bugs. What aggravated me was the ripple effect that had on my last day Munich. If they have this problem that often, keeps some spray on hand for guests to use so a bad day doesn't get worse. I think there is a lot more they could do to prevent this.

I complained immediately at 3am in the morning and the staff were highly unhelpful and made me write out a written complaint which they said they would respond to. The next day I spoke to many others on other floors who said they also had bugs. They are fully aware of the problem but they still check in new guests daily. I complained again the next day and heard many others do the same thing. They will act like its a new problem and that you could have even been the one who brought them in. They said this to so many people that it is clear that they are the problem. I checked out two days early but had already paid my full accommodation. They said I should get a full refund and they gave me an email address to contact. I have since contacted the email twice with no response or apology. I would have left a better review had they responded in a timely manner but they refuse to even communicate with me. Their business is only surviving because they continue to check people in to a bed bug infested environment and then they don't give them their refunds which they are entitled to! Let's just say I would rather pay to not stay here! It's the worst place I have ever stayed at and the feeling of having bugs crawl all over my skin at night will never escape me!

Enough outlets for everyone to charge their stuff. Place was pretty clean. Door locks were a bit weird to get used to, not something you can easily open if you've had a few beers. There seemed to always be people hanging out front. I was with a large group for one night, so we didn't spend a lot of time there. Not a bad place to stay for a stopover.

The Munich YMCA was clean, basic, and centrally located. The rooms were spotless with fresh, crisp…read moresheets. The rooms had deep, round sinks with stoppers, a wide mirror, and plenty of counter space. There was no A/C, but the huge windows tilt and open wide with the proper position of the handle. The shared showers could have used a bit of sprucing up throughout the day because there are clumps of stringy hair clogging the drains, which meant dirty water pools around your feet. A cold breakfast is included with your stay. Items include breads, spreads, sliced deli meats, cereal, fruit, yogurt, and hot and cold beverages, including water. It's very formal with place settings and real dishes, glasses, and flatware. I didn't really like the neighborhood, but it was safe. The best part is it's only a 5-minute walk from Hauptbahnhof, the main train station. Other amenities included free coffee all day, a sitting area, bike storage, free maps, tour information, and you can store valuables at the reception.
