I organized a 2-day workshop for 26 people at this extraordinary event space, and I…read moreenthusiastically recommend it for weddings, parties, or workshops of any kind. The owners are visionaries who have taken an 1870's barn and renovated it into an upscale, environmentally conscious building with gorgeous stone work, massive fireplaces, and three floors, each with its own character. While everything is on a big scale, somehow the beauty enables intimacy and depth -- plus, the acoustics were great, which also made everything feel close and quiet. The location is not too far from Ithaca but it is set in a vast meadow and backs onto a state park, so it's quiet and lushly rural. Not only is the locale pretty, but the grounds are fantastic, with exquisite attention to every artistic detail. The plantings in the courtyard and terraces have a brightly colored, distinctive style that falls into a category of its own -- something like "a European garden with a tropical flare." Inside the barn, there are plants and artwork everywhere, in a quirky blend that somehow coheres into an experience of great beauty and delight. The building and grounds come together as a whole that radiates elegance. Although the effect is quite modern, the blend of old and new is really striking. They have thoughtfully left some rough touches that resonate nicely with the pervasive old wood and stone; for example, a massive beam that still sports an ancient birds nest. There is natural light everywhere. I was so enchanted that on the last evening I took about 30 photographs, because I didn't want to leave it all behind. Our presenter stayed overnight on the 3rd floor and was just as smitten. This was a really inviting place to do deep and thoughtful work; but it would serve equally well for a magical party space. I can't wait to return; and I suspect that each season has its particular pleasures there. Q - What kind of DJ was he? A - He was polite and extremely professional. He listened to our ideas and preferences and performed accordingly. He did nothing we did not like. Q - Did he talk to the crowd a lot or not? A - He talked to the crowd as appropriate. Enough to keep them involved but not so much that he bothered the guests all night (we requested he be more on the quite side, my husband and I hate it when DJ's are extremely vocal - to us that feels cheesy). I am sure if you tell him you would like him to be more involved he would be happy to do that. Q - Was he corny or more laid back? A - I don't think Paul has a corny bone in his body. He was very confident and laid back for the entire reception. He has an air of calm, confidence about him that we really loved and so did our guests! Q - How comfortable did he feel with the microphone? A - He seemed completely at home with the microphone, and all of his equipment. Again, he has a confidence that radiates and his experience is resoundingly evident. Q - How was his song selection? A - His song selection was great - we gave him a list of songs to play, to NOT play, and other examples of what we like and he became our own "pandora radio" we couldn't have been happier. He was extraordinarily in tune with what my wife and I were looking for. Q - Did he work with you beforehand to understand your likes/dislikes, and did he incorporate those into the reception? A - Yes, absolutely, he met with us a few times before the wedding and gave us forms to fill out, explained everything he could/would do and then let us pick what we wanted and did not want and made other adjustments as we wanted. It was completely customized to our taste, needs and wants. I hope this review was informative. Paul made the most important day of our lives an unbelievable experience with as little stress as humanly possible. I watched my video over 30 times in the first week, I loved it so much. She goes above and beyond for the couple and has amazing customer service. Ashley and Mark (her husband/assistant videographer) helped us keep our photo line up moving, telling the family who was next and who was on deck. And they even drove us from the ceremony to the reception when the groomsmen stole our car! I originally booked a smaller package in 2018 and decided to upgrade to a bigger package closer to the date of my wedding in 2019. I was surprised when she told me the price, as she gave me the 2018 rate! Then she threw in a bonus playbook on top that was not included in the package originally! One of my bridesmaids put it best "I appreciated Ashley's spirit the most. Her talent is a bonus to the kind person she is." I had a very bad experience with this company. I brought a 40 year old photo from my wedding for…read morecolor balancing and to edit the picture. The original photographer failed to tell me that my jacket was askew. I have tolerated the look of the photo for many years, but finally took it into this shop to have it fixed. When I arrived to pick up the finished photo, the color was adjusted, but the jacket was not fixed the way I wanted it to be. The woman who did the work indicated that "you didn't tell me that is what you wanted." She made some small adjustment in the right side of the jacket, but it was not correcting the look so the jacket appeared closed and buttoned. The woman said "You didn't tell me that is what you wanted." I do believe that I said "fix the jacket." It would seem to me that she should have asked me what I meant by "fix the jacket" instead of assuming and making the minimal change she did. She then added "I would have had to charge you more to do that and it would have taken longer." At no point did I note that I needed this quickly or that cost was too high. If the person agreed to fix the problem, I would have not have been as disappointed. I had to pay for the work despite not getting what I wanted because she had my original picture. I have speculated since this incident that the person who did the work is not the owner of the shop (she indicated that Jon Reis is not there very much). I am not sure why she would not offer to fix the problem which I consider her error--not making sure she knew what I wanted done--but I strongly recommend that customers be very careful with this company because it is not a customer-service oriented group and the work I requested was inadequate.

HIGHLY recommend the Gazebo room; it is a standalone room situated towards the back of the property and is very private and romantic. The decor is simple, yet elegant. It includes an oversized jet tub, spacious bedroom and bathroom and mini fridge. There is also a fireplace in the room and is stocked with lavender toiletries. My boyfriend and I appreciated the attention to detail in this room. We will absolutely be back! Madeline and Ken were happy to recommend activities and restaurants as well. There is a lot to do in the area and I cannot wait to visit in the fall. Parking off-street, wi-fi, delicious cookies and juice served in the evenings, beautiful grounds and the list goes on. Bob was flexible in that he donated his DJing for the event, as it was a fundraiser for a nonprofit. He was also willing to let other DJ's spin if they wanted to, as long as they got in touch with him. Bob clearly cares a lot about his customers and does everything in his power to make the events successful and fun. Not only is Bob one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet, but he has a passion for DJing and making the atmosphere of the party great from the start to the finish of the party. Even after the crowd predictably died down at my event, due to the time of the night, some partygoers did not want to leave Bob's tunes. Throughout the whole venue, which was quite big, the sound travelled well thanks to Bob's careful consideration. He lugged all the equipment himself with the assistance of one other helper, which I also appreciated. He was quick to produce any document I needed, such as insurance, when we were going through the process of setting up the event, which made things a lot easier on my part. It was a pleasure to work with Bob and rest assured, he carries my highest recommendation for any DJ/sound work that you may request. She wanted a wedding with multiple day events (wine tour, welcome party, ceremony on the Cornell campus, two cocktail parties, reception and a brunch). We were also challenged with having 160+ guests from out of town. My daughter didn't want a traditional wedding banquet hall look, she wanted to have farm tables with lush greeneries and flowers, and lounge sofas for people to relax. It was hard to find a place around Ithaca to accommodate so many guests. Tara spent days with us in finding a perfect venue for the wedding. On the day of, we had photographers videographers, multiple banquet coordinators, bus drivers. Tara was amazing in coordinating everything and getting everyone to work together. She had 7 pages of the event schedule. She worked tirelessly to refine it with us, down to when food would be delivered for the bridal party to eat before the ceremony. At the end of the reception, when she saw I was going back to the hotel by myself, she personally drove me back. She then delivered flowers for the next morning's brunch to our B&B at 2am. On top of that, she showed up at the brunch to make sure everything was ok and helped us pack up everything. We had few crisis (or we thought) during the wedding, Tara was able to take care of them for us and more importantly calmed us down. All of our guests told us how much fun they had at the wedding and how beautiful the venue was. I think a lot of it was due to Tara's careful planning and diligence. Our venue, the Ithaca Farmers Market, requires an immense amount of planning and organization as you must bring in everything (rentals, food, alcohol, decor) yourself. In addition, set-up time is very limited so it pays off to have a team of vendors who have worked well at the market before and know what they're doing and how run of show should go! While we signed on for the month-of package, Tara was so helpful in providing recommendations for additional vendors throughout our planning process who not only have worked market wedding before, but who would be able to help us create our exact vision for the day. Tara was responsive and always made herself readily available, whether it was well-before the month of our wedding or in the days leading up to it. As a self-described Type-A planner, I was so grateful to have Tara on top of everything especially the day before and the day of the wedding so that I could kick back and relax to enjoy such a special day. She executed everything perfectly, - including when a guest stepped on the bottom of my dress and broke off a bustle hook! Not only did she have safety pins of all sizes on hand, she perfectly pinned the dress back into its proper bustle so nobody could even tell! I can't recommend her highly enough - every couple should be so lucky as to have her support, eye for style, and organization on their big day!
