Are there better places to play pinball? Maybe. Okay, yes…read more Assuredly. But I drove hundreds of miles out of my way just to come here and play pinball. Why? They have a Rick & Morty machine. Thank you Pinball Maps for leading the way! The hardest part about playing pinball here is finding an entrance to the dead/dying mall in which it's located. The anchor stores are mostly closed. The mall road encircling the building is in disrepair. Signage isn't great. But once inside I appreciated the low level of lighting to minimize any glare on the glass. The machines were loud enough to hear all the call outs, which is also not always the case. I have to say, I've never been a fan of the swipe card system of payment. And I prefer arcades where there is an on staff attendant. However when I had an issue with one of the machines, I saw there was a number to text, so I put it to the test. Almost instantly I was in touch with a person who was able to remotely turn off the broken machine and put replacement credits on my swipe card. That's great service, especially considering the person was remote. They said they would be in the next morning to fix the machine. And guess what? They were! I probably should have let him know that the switch in the Rick and Morty garage did not seem to be functional. But the last thing I wanted was for that machine to go off line. I'd rather play a slightly befouled version of that game than not get to play at all. Anyhow, consider yourself lucky if you live within the area. Finding someone who takes pride in their machines, is harder than one might imagine. There's a good mix of new and old tables, all for a dollar a pop. Certainly this is way more fun than those other blinking lights, bells, and whistles at the casino in town. One can either throw their money down the toilet, or scrape together a few quarters and learn the ins and outs of pinball. Just make sure not to come hungry. The food court in the mall is a bit of a ghost town. But fortunately Old Forge Pizza is just a short drive away.

Waitress never came back to ask how our meals were after serving them and then never saw her until we were done eating. Food was so so - no where near the level that I would expect at this price point! Steaks were tough. I got mushrooms with mine and they were not on the steak. Paid $6 per person for a slice of bread - like wtf is this? Every other restaurant gives bread for free. Everything was way over seasoned - I guess to mask the poor quality of the meats. $6 for a draft beer and 11.50 for a house vodka tonic. Such a rip off! Never again!

This place is not only the most beautiful dining establishment in all of northeastern Pennsylvania…read moreand the Poconos, but also has the finest dining service, selection, and quality of food and drink, as anywhere I've ever been. From being greeted by the parking valets, Stanley & Dwayne, (who actually ran ahead of me to be able to open the door for me), to the host being extremely accommodating after I realized I was an hour early for my reservation, the bartenders, the servers, the food runners, several managers stopping by to see if everything sufficed. The amuse bouche was absolute perfection! My Caesar salad with boquerones was as good as I've ever had anywhere. I ordered the salmon as my entrée. I considered not ordering it because it came over risotto, but was assured by one of my servers, Angela, that I would not be disappointed. I've never had a great risotto served to me in a restaurant other than at Cafe Rinaldi in old Forge. I was gladly mistaken. This risotto was perfectly prepared and perfectly flavored, it was incredible. Their cocktail selection is perfect. Annie takes the classics, and makes them her own, with homage to the spectacular gilded age surroundings, right down to the rarely seen ingredients and glassware. There's a libation for everyone's taste and a great wine list as well. The Mansion Manhattan was as good a Manhattan as I've had anywhere. Their level of service is unsurpassed by anywhere in the northeast. This certainly has a lot to do with the leadership and the training program (not to mention, their hiring process must be impeccable!). The only place that could even compete with it service-wise is the French Manor in Sterling. This is one of the only two fine dining restaurants in all of northeastern Pennsylvania. I noticed that every party that walks through the doors is treated like they are the most important guests of the evening. (THAT is another component of fine dining). When you go, take a minute to walk around and see the different rooms and compare them to the original pictures from the early 1900s that were used in the restoration process. Amazing!

The wait staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and welcoming. While the brunch menu left a bit to be desired, I kept it simple with two eggs and toast. The food itself wasn't the highlight of the experience--instead, it's the setting and ambiance that truly make the Stegmaier special. Every detail has been thoughtfully curated, from the vintage salt holders and silverware to the historic décor. One of the standout touches was the tableside Bloody Mary service, presented on a tray with droppers of truffle oil and hot sauce so you could customize it to your liking. The staff also encouraged us to explore the upper floors, which added to the experience. The grand piano in the entrance, the stunning chandelier lining the staircase, and the beautiful stained-glass windows made the building feel both elegant and full of history. I think dinner is probably where the Stegmaier truly shines. Because of the timing of our visit and the holiday weekend, brunch was our only option, but I imagine the evening atmosphere offers an entirely different experience. I'd definitely return to give dinner a try.

First, Cathy is the epitome of a true professional. If you want someone with deep experience, exquisite taste, a talented team, and impeccable organizational skills, look no further. She's also a delight to work with--gracious, calm, and endlessly accommodating--which made the entire planning process feel effortless and enjoyable. And then there's the venue itself. Carmen's Country Inn & Gardens is absolutely enchanting. The photos online capture its charm, but seeing it in person is something else entirely. With more and more couples seeking weddings in rural Pennsylvania, I can confidently say this is one of the most beautiful, welcoming, and unique venues you'll find.

When we decided to get married and toured the venue, it stood out. The garden area is like a secret…read moregarden with 2 waterfalls and numerous areas for an outdoor ceremony. The indoor area contrats it with an art deco/Great Gatsby/classic Hollywood Glam vibe that we loved at first site! (Take a look at the ornate ceiling tiles!) We chose to have our ceremony and seating set under the pavillion which is concrete and flat. Our wedding was July 6 and with the weather forecast changing throughout the week, high temperatures, elderly, and some disabled guests, we took everyone's safety into consideration to provide cover (and shade) because we wanted an outside ceremony. The beautiful walking path from the center of the property down to the pavillion that gave the perfect grand entrance. There is also a beautiful pond on the property where we did our "first look" prior to our ceremony. For our outdoor cocktail hour, there were areas for seating with tables, a some bar tables, a patio off the bar/pavillion area and others just sat in the chairs from the ceremony to mingle and snack. (The coconut shrimp is fantastic by the way!) For one of our 2 signature drinks, we had the option of Arnold Palmer iced tea that could be spiked. It gave another option to family members that don't drink alcohol and didn't put them into an awkward situation. When we stood infront of the waterfall after we came back from wedding party pictures and were chatting with some of our guests, it turned into an impromptu receiving line where we unexpectedly got many pictures with our guests!  For the inside, don't have the layout fool you. It is a perfect layout! We had tables surrounding 3 sides of what you would think would be the main dance floor (but wasn't used that way). The inside ceiling is always drapped and has uplighting installed so that is one less thing you have to worry about! We had a sweetheart table for us at the top of the dance floor and had an intimate first dance while "dancing on the clouds" and some additional uplighting from DJ, had our matron of honor and best man give their speeches and did our cake cutting there.  We then moved the dancing after dinner and dessert to the other dance floor by having the father-of-the-bride/bride dance along with other dances on the other dance floor by the bar. It was my parents' 40th wedding anniversary on June 23rd and my cousins 50th anniversary on the date of the actual wedding so we extended and dance to them too. It allowed a seamless transition for others to make their way to the other dance floor. We also had 2 extra tables and the photobooth set up near the bar and dance floor to make guests want to be in that area. Also, there is an outdoor patio right outside the dance floor so guests outside getting some fresh air could still feel like they were part of the action. The initial seating for dinner allowed a more quiet area for guests who wanted to watch but have some space too. Our bar package had frozen drinks and top shelf liquor which helped cooling off in the heat. We ended the night with a private couple dance while our guests were assembled outside by the fountain and our marquis leaders for a sparkler send off and photo and video opportunity outside the building. Carmen's Country Inn & Gardens staff treated us like family. Cathy paid attention to all details and made sure our needs were met. She was thorough with timelines and reminders which I appreciated. With so many things going on planning a wedding, careers changes and the nonprofits we volunteer with, she ensured that we were on time and everything was remembered. I received not only a venue and catering package that included a cake, but also a wedding coordinator/Cathy on top of it! With Carmen's having its own bakery and catering, I was able to address ALL food allergies. Cathy ensures that meals are packed for the Bride and Groom to enjoy after the wedding which we truly appreciated. We made lifelong connections with the family and employees at the venue. We are so grateful we picked this venue!

According to local legend there's a hidden diamond in there. But this mine has been burning underground since 1962... Will we make it out alive? -HIT THE BULLSEYE As enthusiasts, we really appreciate it when we don't need to hand hold flashlights. It makes searching and solving puzzles much easier. In this case, the miners' hats with a light conveniently fit our needs and the storyline. -The set design made us feel like we just entered deep into a mine. There was real coal in the room! The temperature was cooler in this room than the one we just played. We enjoyed the aspect of the light setting being controlled by us as the story developed. -All the puzzles made sense with the story and as a group of 6, we were able to work on different puzzles simultaneously. -The attention to detail on one particular prop really "wowed" us. From the visual aspect to the sound effect, we really felt "the impact". -A physical puzzle was fun although I was the only one that experienced it. MISSED THE MARK -Some parts of the room were not as spacious so some members would miss out on what puzzles were in there and how it was solved. -One of the puzzles seemed to have not reset correctly. So somehow, we skipped it but was still able to escape. The owner showed it to us after and we were happy to see how it operated as it was definitely a key element to the room. TAKE A SHOT? "Can U Xcape's" bookings are public and we've had good and bad experiences with that. We really enjoyed the group we played with and teamwork was essential. Sharing what you found and calling out what's already been done is the key to succeeding as a group in an escape room. We really enjoyed both rooms that we played at "Can U Xcape". They have very unique concepts for their set designs and puzzles. We suggest playing all three rooms as we'll be returning for their "Tornado Room" for sure! "Conspiracy Bunker" We were being sent by the government to track down the mole who's been leaking highly classified information to the outside world. We arrived at his secret hideout. When we began to search his place, weird things started to uncover... Will we be able to crack the Conspiracy Theory? HIT THE BULLSEYE -First time we encountered a game with 4 different endings pending on your choice. We like the concept of the interactive video involved with the puzzle elements. -Set design was very detailed. Even though there seemed to be a lot of decor in the room, you will not have mistaken them as red herrings. Things that were not needed were bolted down nicely on shelves. -Various puzzles were interactive and fun. This room was not linear at all so a large group can easily "divide and conquer". -Great way of utilizing the space of the room to create different set designs. We love it when owners think outside the box in terms of a room not just being a box, but can also create different "levels" to enhance the player's experience. MISSED THE MARK -If the interactive video prop can also act as the clue giver, it would bring add a more immersive feel. -Although there were choice endings, it would've been nice to have some middle choice elements as well since the ending choices felt more like two options versus four. -There was one interactive element in the room that was a bit confusing as the prop had an association with the puzzle that wasn't used at the end. -One puzzle in the latter game was a bit hard to understand despite following the hint instruction but we were able to use process of elimination and solved it at the end. We felt like we spent the most time here. TAKE A SHOT? This room is ranked as their hardest room right now and usually a minimum of four people is needed for the booking. Since we played it with only the two of us, we totally felt the intensity of the number of puzzles in the room. Most of the time we were solving puzzles simultaneously in order to quickly move forward. We did get out with seconds to spare but did not have time to even think about the bonus puzzle. "Can U Xcape" is known for adding a bonus mission in their rooms and if you solve it, they will take some time off of the clock when you escape. This is great for enthusiasts looking for a challenge. Our recommended size for the room is 4-6 people. Let us know which ending you chose after playing the game!
