We went to Can U Xcape back in Nov 2019 and played "Centralia Mineshaft Room" and "Conspiracy Bunker" "Centralia Mineshaft Room" Since our tour guide for the "Centralia Mineshaft" had to leave us for an emergency call, we decided to sneak into the mine. According to local legend there's a hidden diamond in there. But this mine has been burning underground since 1962... Will we make it out alive? -HIT THE BULLSEYE As enthusiasts, we really appreciate it when we don't need to hand hold flashlights. It makes searching and solving puzzles much easier. In this case, the miners' hats with a light conveniently fit our needs and the storyline. -The set design made us feel like we just entered deep into a mine. There was real coal in the room! The temperature was cooler in this room than the one we just played. We enjoyed the aspect of the light setting being controlled by us as the story developed. -All the puzzles made sense with the story and as a group of 6, we were able to work on different puzzles simultaneously. -The attention to detail on one particular prop really "wowed" us. From the visual aspect to the sound effect, we really felt "the impact". -A physical puzzle was fun although I was the only one that experienced it. MISSED THE MARK -Some parts of the room were not as spacious so some members would miss out on what puzzles were in there and how it was solved. -One of the puzzles seemed to have not reset correctly. So somehow, we skipped it but was still able to escape. The owner showed it to us after and we were happy to see how it operated as it was definitely a key element to the room. TAKE A SHOT? "Can U Xcape's" bookings are public and we've had good and bad experiences with that. We really enjoyed the group we played with and teamwork was essential. Sharing what you found and calling out what's already been done is the key to succeeding as a group in an escape room. We really enjoyed both rooms that we played at "Can U Xcape". They have very unique concepts for their set designs and puzzles. We suggest playing all three rooms as we'll be returning for their "Tornado Room" for sure! "Conspiracy Bunker" We were being sent by the government to track down the mole who's been leaking highly classified information to the outside world. We arrived at his secret hideout. When we began to search his place, weird things started to uncover... Will we be able to crack the Conspiracy Theory? HIT THE BULLSEYE -First time we encountered a game with 4 different endings pending on your choice. We like the concept of the interactive video involved with the puzzle elements. -Set design was very detailed. Even though there seemed to be a lot of decor in the room, you will not have mistaken them as red herrings. Things that were not needed were bolted down nicely on shelves. -Various puzzles were interactive and fun. This room was not linear at all so a large group can easily "divide and conquer". -Great way of utilizing the space of the room to create different set designs. We love it when owners think outside the box in terms of a room not just being a box, but can also create different "levels" to enhance the player's experience. MISSED THE MARK -If the interactive video prop can also act as the clue giver, it would bring add a more immersive feel. -Although there were choice endings, it would've been nice to have some middle choice elements as well since the ending choices felt more like two options versus four. -There was one interactive element in the room that was a bit confusing as the prop had an association with the puzzle that wasn't used at the end. -One puzzle in the latter game was a bit hard to understand despite following the hint instruction but we were able to use process of elimination and solved it at the end. We felt like we spent the most time here. TAKE A SHOT? This room is ranked as their hardest room right now and usually a minimum of four people is needed for the booking. Since we played it with only the two of us, we totally felt the intensity of the number of puzzles in the room. Most of the time we were solving puzzles simultaneously in order to quickly move forward. We did get out with seconds to spare but did not have time to even think about the bonus puzzle. "Can U Xcape" is known for adding a bonus mission in their rooms and if you solve it, they will take some time off of the clock when you escape. This is great for enthusiasts looking for a challenge. We've been here twice, and this is seriously one of the best escape rooms my fiancé and I have had the joy of doing. On the last round, our room master Michelle was amazing! She gave us plenty of time to explore, and helped push us into the right direction at the perfect times! We felt independent, yet really supported. She became such a positive part of our experience! The rooms are so well designed, much more intuitive than other ones we had been to in the past. Every time we figured out a puzzle, we were so proud and excited to continue. Also, they do really cool effects, technology, and mechanics that really liven up the room. It's so interactive and fun. Completing these rooms are truly a challenge, but not in a frustrating way. It's always a seriously awesome you get to experience firsthand. Again, Michelle is super awesome! I can't wait to come back soon to complete the last room! read more

We have done 3 rooms here and they are all among the BEST escape rooms we've ever done! They aren't riddled with red herrings, which is typical of poorly planned rooms. I'll start off by saying that I consider myself to be a budding escape room enthusiast, with about 20-25 rooms done so far. I had previously done the Upside-Down Room and the Tornado Room (v.2) here; most recently I returned to do the Submarine Room. Aside from the Upside-Down Room (which I think has been retired), I would rank the rooms in my top-third of rooms so far. I'm going to talk about my experience with the Submarine Room below, since that was my most recent experience. Production: 5 stars. Where Can U Xcape really excels is in theming and production. The submarine room feels like a real submarine. The materials feel like solid, quality materials that you would find on a submarine. There were videos used in the room that, aside from some of the acting, were nicely done. It doesn't feel like any corners were cut. This was a quality build. Immersion: 5 stars. This was a very immersive experience. The tech used in the room fit really nicely with the theme. I don't recall there being any number-code locks at all. Clues were given mostly through a computer screen, which fit really well with being on a submarine. Occasionally, clues were given via an intercom. While on-theme, they were really hard to hear. This room is also a little loud. It made it difficult to communicate, and it made it nearly impossible to hear the intercom hints. Prop/Room conditions: 4 stars. Most items in this room are built to last, and I don't see that changing. There are a couple of items that were laminated that have seen some wear, but that didn't really affect overall experience. The one problem I had in this area was in the use of tech. There is a puzzle that is really touchy. We found out in the de-brief that we had the solution right the first time, but that the sensors were finicky. There was no feedback to indicate that we had it right or wrong. We ended up trying the exact same solution a second time, and it worked. To be fair, the gamemaster had already added time for us to compensate for the fact that the tech didn't work as expected. Gamemaster: 5 stars. The gamemaster was great. He was responsive, he gave hints at just the right time, and the hints were actually useful. (Sometimes, you get hints that are incredibly vague and, frankly, more confusing than helpful.) He kept us on task and prevented us from getting frustrated in a more challenging room. I should note that there were only two of us who did this room, and the gamemaster indicated that we were the best team of two he had seen do the room, but we owe much of our success to him. Puzzles and Room Flow: 3 stars. I would say that the puzzles and room flow are the weakest components here. When I see a room with a low escape rate, I usually wonder whether it is a symptom of bad room design, rather than just being intentionally challenging. I would say that the first two-thirds of the room are really great, puzzle-wise. The tech was nicely integrated with the puzzle solutions, and there were some puzzles that I hadn't seen before. There were also some nice "a-ha!" moments, which makes for a very satisfying experience. The variety of puzzle types was lacking a bit, but that tends to happen in tech-heavy rooms. There were some things I didn't like about the puzzle design. First, we needed outside knowledge. We needed to identify something in the room and we had no idea what the item was. There were no documents or pictures in the room to tell us what those items were. We asked the GM to describe it to us, and we ended up just getting the puzzle solution. There were also two things we had to do in the room that go explicitly against typical ER rules. One was a "never do this" and the other was a "never touch this." The room also required some physicality that was not mentioned on the booking information. When you're only booking with 2 people, that becomes a potential problem. Overall: 4 stars. I know the Yelp rating says 5 stars, but there is no need to reduce the rating in Yelp. Compared to the vast majority of escape rooms, this facility is much better. My 4-star rating is just comparing to the ideal rooms I have done. A bit more user testing would make this a 5-star room. The puzzle design toward the end is really what dropped the experience a bit. Having said that, we had a great time. There's something to be said when you don't get out of a room but still have an amazing time. The immersion and gamemaster really made everything work. We were only something like 2 steps away from getting out of the room, which I think isn't too bad for a team of two in a tough room. We've driven 1.5 hours twice to go to this facility, and we will definitely go back to do Mineshaft and Tornado 3.0. As a final note, they really seem to care at this facility. The proof is in the details. I'm in the Harrisburg area, but I would say that this facility is, overall, better than about 80% of the rooms around here. It's definitely worth a visit! read more

I go here at least once a year with my friends. Such a fun time! It's definitely an entertaining night out with friends. Challenging, and unique experience. They change things around all the time so you can go a couple of times a year and enjoy something new. The escape rooms here are well thought out and modern. Give it a try for sure. read more

Really great experience at Can U Xcape. We made plans to travel over two hours to play all three rooms, and before doing so reached out to them via social media to ask a few general questions. Russ, the owner, was very prompt and helpful in the responses. Based on that exchange, we ended up booking all three rooms to play in consecutive order. The first room we played was the Upside Down Room. This was one of the most cleverly designed rooms we have ever played. Everything it that room was placed to really make you think the room was upside down. Our two young children were really excited, they thought they were walking on the ceiling! The puzzles in the room were well designed, a good mix of physical locks and electronic elements, and challenging. While our group of two adults and two young children did not escape, we were only two elements away and felt very satisfied in the result. The next game was the Submarine Room. This was very cool and designed. We have played over 80 games and some of the elements for this room were the first time being experienced by our group. A difficult room for a small group, yet it was fair, unique and very fun. If you are new to playing escape rooms, bring a group. Share the fun! Our third room was the Tornado. The pressure was really felt with the sound effects brought into the game. When you walk in, the design is such that you could really see as if there was a lot of destruction in the room. Many paths to start, not really linear but the room most likely to be a great first room for players, yet enough of a challenge and things to do for larger groups or experienced players. Our game master was Michelle. She was very helpful when we needed a little push in the right direction. Her timing for hints, clues or just clarification before us doing something was perfect. In one room there was something I had to ask "You really want us to do ....." and the response was "DO IT!". This location is easily accessible, has ample parking lot parking, and near the downtown area. Each room is planned, designed and built by the ownership group. The attention to detail is strong. Feedback is welcomed, and appreciated. This location is top notch. Overall, we felt that the three rooms were all different, challenging and fun. I live in NYC now but went back home to Bloom for the holidays, and since there's nothing to do in Bloomsburg I went here... twice. I've done multiple escape rooms now in New York and Connecticut, and these were on par or even better with the ones I've done previously! The Submarine room was fantastic, and might be the best room I've ever done. Definitely worth a try, and the pricing is pretty great too! read more
