I've been going to Dr. Clayton for years. I foster, dog sit and have three dogs of my own. So…read morelong as the care you need is relatively simple and your animals are healthy, the office seemed great. However, when the time came that I had two very sick pets, I had a horrible experience with the care, diagnosis and customer service at this office. I will never recommend somebody go there again. I took my dog, Sherman, in Monday morning, as I knew something was seriously wrong. Sadly, they misdiagnosed him and sent Sherman home with Pepcid; but offered to keep him for observation. Given that they had just evaluated Sherman, I didn't feel it was in his best interest because he would not be able to get decent rest while they "observe" him in between appointments. They already knew he had been vomiting and not eating. Two days later, Wednesday, nothing had changed, and Sherman was considerably more ill and with a fever. I brought him in, they took his temperature, did a blood draw and offered to keep him to "observe" again. They had no explanation of what they would do differently other than wait for the blood panel to come back. I knew lying in a cage at the vet office would only cause him additional anxiety when he was already very sick. By Thursday, my other dog, Maisie, started falling ill. The Clayton vet could not fit me in until Friday later in the morning. I called earlier that Friday and spoke with a technician, to try and understand what they were going to do differently. Suddenly, Dr Anne Clayton came on the phone and started berating me. After remaining silent while she went on a rant for 2 1/2 minutes, she ended the call by telling me to go to another vet. There I was on a Friday morning, now with two very sick dogs, looking for a new vet. Thank God for All Star Veterinary in Westfield! Absolutely amazing! They fit us in immediately, repeated the appropriate bloodwork and started my dogs on the antibiotics they needed. It was dicey over over the weekend as I had to hydrate both dogs with a syringe until the antibiotics kicked in. My first dog had a much longer road of recovery given that he had gone so long before receiving proper care and medicine. After the weekend, I texted Clayton Vet to see if they would bare any responsibility for what had taken place. I understand that sometimes we have bad days or mistakes happen. Instead, he responded defensively, stating he listened to the recordings and that he was inactivating my account. I understand his desire to back the other veterinarians at that office. But he could've responded simply with, "We had a lot going on at the time. Sorry if things slipped... how are the dogs doing now?" After years of a business relationship, and sending them many new clients, it is disappointing to say the least. My dogs almost died as a result. Dr. Clayton told me that he had a recording of the call - I strongly encourage him to post that recording for others to decide for themselves. What's a shows an additional testament to their ignorance and customer service is how they continue to advertise on their Yelp page. They're actually using a picture of MY dogs, standing in MY front door to promote their business. See below.

BUT hitchock or whatever her name is is AWFUL and should not even be around animals. first incident; we got a new rat and he came to us with bumblefoot, I couldn't get into my regular exotic vet and WAS happy to find Hitchcock takes exotic animals so we made an appointment... and she tried to euthanize him!. I had to demand antibiotics and refuse to put him down, and she even demanded I scheduled an appointment to euthanize because "the antibiotics aren't going to work" I did not and 6 months later our boy is doing Amazing with his cage mates and my normal Exotic vet was appalled by her behavior and treatment options I was given. I chalked it up to she doesn't really know exotics and should stick to cats and dogs. except I brought my dog in for a rather large lump on his side. (He is a patient of dr smith and has bad back leg issues, you'll see why this is important in a minute) they had me drop him off to be looked at since they were really full that day; and unfortunately dr smith wasn't the vet that saw him. She called me and said nothing is wrong with his legs I said great I didn't bring him in for his legs it's the lump on his side, she got very upset and wanted to know why I didnt tell them that... well I did that's why I even brought him in? And then got huffy and said well I'll have to examine him again and call you back. 15 minutes later she calls and says well yea there is a lump there, what do you want me to do about it? Uhm??? Blood work? X-rays? I don't really know what should we do for this. "Well it's all gonna be expensive so I don't know what to do here...." I want you to treat my dog. You know what I'll just be there to get him. she Did end up running blood work but that was ALL. she tried to have me bring him back in but I'm pretty well done and we are schedule for a second opinion with care animal hospital. Thankfully they did prescribe some pain meds so he's at least been comfortable until I can figure him out. While explaining all this to my grandma she informed me she no longer uses this vet because this lady also refused to treat her cat. He had a wound that wouldn't quit bleeding and she just told her she couldn't help and he would die. That was 2 years ago and care prescribed him meds and took care of him and he is fine now. this Hitchcock woman is not out for your animals best interest, she just wants to euthanize, not treat, and take your money when she can. If you go to this location you should ONLY see dr smith, this woman in my opinion should not even be practicing with animals.

Trigger warning: pet bereavement…read more We are newer to the area and had went to a vet on Springmill but I didn't care for his bedside manner towards my cat. Anyways, Lilly Vanilly (Lilly) was always food insecure. She was a dumpster kitty that was weaned way too soon. She became obese and had some health problems because of it. Last month she became constipated. She would strain and cry. We attempted all of the things. Pumpkin, forcing fluids, high fiber wet food. We made an appointment and they got us in the same day for a ROUTINE appointment. They didn't charge for an ER appointment which I appreciated. They took X-rays and Lilly needed to be deobstipated. I left her there for the afternoon. The initial deobstipation didn't work. The second one a few days later worked much better and she seemed like she was getting along much better. Back to her normal self! Fast forward a week later and she was just not doing great. She had to go to the kitty ER in Indy and stayed for a day. Anyways long story short they fixed her once again. Temporarily. We lost our poor girl today. I'm not sure if it was the constipation or the fact that she may have had an obstruction but her last month of life was heartbreaking. All-Star was incredible through the entire process. Seeing these comments about how expensive it is has been strange because I feel like the cost of services is on par with any other facility but the staff here shines! Even follow up texts to ensure things are going well. Yesterday I made an appointment for 0800 today because she stopped eating and began exhibiting signs of generalized weakness. Lilly didn't make it to her appointment. She passed about 7am today. I still brought her in, but a different kind of appointment. We made the decision to get the personalized cremation where they return the ashes in an urn of your choice. They also allowed me to take paw prints which I turned into art. They'll do much better prints for me as well (I'm not a professional paw print taker, but I love to paint and Lilly would always kind of just sit and watch while I create. I'm glad I had supplies with me today) anyways. As sad as this story is I still have two cats as patients and I'm very impressed with the care that we received.

My husband had stopped in one day to get some pricing information for vaccines, exams and grooming. Ultimately, we chose to keep them at the low-cost animal clinic for their health needs, but really liked the pricing and offerings available in regards to grooming. My first impressions were that the facility is very neat and clean, and the staff was very personable and professional. We were greeted, and I could tell that they were expecting us. Laramie, the groomer, came out right away to discuss our wants/needs, any behavioral concerns, and the possibility of needing sedation. All of this information was previously discussed when I completed the online request for an appointment and again during the phone call to finalize the appointment. I appreciate their thoroughness. It made me feel good knowing that nothing was going to happen that we hadn't previously discussed without it being discussed once more for confirmation! I did receive a text a couple hours later, stating that because my babies had been a little scared, Laramie was taking her time and giving them breaks. She updated me on the expected pick-up time as well. In all, Cali and Oreo (my kitties) were in their care for 5 hours. All of our "pain points" were taken care of. They were bathed - shampooed and conditioned, their nails were trimmed, and they even received an all-over trim of their fur. The texture of their coats was noticeably different and they smelled amazing. I'm not sure if they enjoyed their spa day or not, but my husband and I were so happy to see them all trimmed and cleaned up. I had sent with each of the kitties their favorite catnip toys for comfort and Cali's was missing when we got home. I called the animal hospital right away and after a brief hold, I was told that they didn't see it. But since it wasn't in the carrier and they'd only been there, I knew that it would turn up. I texted the groomer, asking her to call me once it was found and we'd happily come collect it anytime. Shortly thereafter, I received a call that they'd found it. She was reunited with her pink champagne bottle spouting feathers the very next day! We will definitely book with them again. Our littlest kitty has never been professionally groomed, so she's next. The grooming prices are very reasonable, and while they could have insisted on sedation, earning them an additional $170, they did not. I saw one review claiming that they were "money hungry", and to be honest we expected a call about needing sedation for that very reason, but I really don't think that they are.
