Ah yes..my old high school...how could I ever forget you!!?? I still remember we got to chose the…read moreschool colors and the school mascot. When I was in junior high at McCabe, Mendota High School was still under construction. We were the first students to use the brand new MHS campus. It was very modern and high tech. I used to love going to the snack bar and getting a bag of chips then having them pump nacho cheese inside. At that time we didn't have a pool and it was to be built but I believe it still hasn't been built. I was not popular and didn't have much friends so I was never in with the cool crowd. Summertime was bad because since everything was new there were no tree's for shade. Winter was bad because Belmont avenue in front of the school would turn into roaring river rapids. Seriously I still can't believe this issue took so long to be fixed. Students had to create log bridges to cross the street to campus. This has since been fixed but geez. The teachers were not personable but I do remember Mr. Purewal the math teacher. He was kinda mean but cracked a creepy smile every now and then. The principal had the nicest spot on campus. His rotunda style (akin to San Jose City Halls) office gave him a great glimpse of a large area of the campus. Lucky bastard. The stadium is also a happening spot but can you guys plant some trees please. Also I don't know how many times the fountain was clogged thanks to Mendota's award winning tap water. I must say PE was horrible. I mean who's idea was it to make students run the mile in 110 degree heat. IDIOTS! Not sure what the locker situation is now but at our time with the storing of liquor, constant taggings, infamous fight spot and homemade bombs they were going to remove them. I still remember looking out the field and seeing the mountains and thinking..there has to be more to life than this...and there was. Thank you MHS for supplying the foundation to allow me to become the successful productive person I've become.
