My pup was not her self, I had came home from school, there was throw up all over my home and poop everywhere. She was hiding in a corner very sad and down. I had called them and asked them if I should bring in my puppy as I came home and she was not acting like herself. ( as you can tell when a dog isn't themselves) so I was very worried about her. I had did some research before I had went in and all these signs had led me to believe she had parvo. I took her in and she was walking fine.. she was a very happy dog ( she was a puppy so of course she was trying to be excited cause there was a bunch of new people around she wanted to play with ) But she still wasn't herself and I had told the veterinarian I wanted to get her tested for parvo and any other tests needed to get done. He had told me that it wasn't needed as she isn't showing any signs of it and she probably just had a " tummy ache " ( she was or else when I had looked up everything it wouldn't have popped up.) later that night we had to rush her to the emergency vet. And " SURPRISINGLY " she had PARVO! I had called the this place and let them know and they just brushed it off. I spent three hundred dollars here for absolutely nothing and am still to this day beyond disappointed and sad how MONEY hungry these people are. I lost my best friend due to them not listening . The emergency vet had also told me if they tested her when I brought her in, there was a bigger chance she would've stayed alive cause we caught it in time. Just be careful who you go to and actually watch who cares about your animal's and your concerns. Because I lost my best friend due to these people not listening to me or how my dog was acting. And after reading many other reviews of this place and seeing how many people they failed it genuinely makes me sick and beyond sad that they have failed so many people . It's sick and twisted . They always take weeks to get an appointment, which is annoying but not a dealbreaker under normal circumstances. The problem is, they either refuse to make exceptions for emergencies or their staff is inadequately trained to know when an emergency merits fitting in. My dog was an established patient there and I had spent a pretty penny there in her last months. Imagine my shock when I called on the morning of May 15 and they refused to fit her in even when I said she was bleeding from her nose and it was likely time to put her to sleep bc she was suffering (she was 16 with cancer). I was crying, trying to impress the urgency. She referred me to the emergency vet in town, which didn't open until 5pm. She then said they could do a drop off appointment the following week. Obviously neither of those options are fitting for a dog needing compassionate euthanasia. My dog suffered longer than she needed to due to Dixie Vet's complete inflexibility and it breaks my heart. I was eventually able to say goodbye to her that evening with a vet I had never used before. When I get a new dog, I won't be going to Dixie Vet, even if it is the closest to my home. read more

Making the review here although this happened at the emergency vet. We took our dog there because she was acting off. It was evening and our regular vet was closed. Dr Brinkerhoff felt her back, asked if we wanted an xray because he didn't think it was necessary, said it was a muscle and gave us gabapentin and she would be fine within a few days. By the time we got home she was paralyzed. Took her back and he asked if we wanted an xray (ya think?). Took the gabapentin and gave her steroids. Again, she will be fine in a few days. No need to follow up. Even though we were scared we trusted him. Finally was able to get her to our vet the next day. He informed us it was very bad. It was a nerve issue... and if only we had caught it even one day sooner. Sent us to Vegas for a Cat Scan and probably surgery. We were there in a few hours. They told us the dame. We waited to long. If only we had not waited. Ad far as we are concerned Dr. Brinkerhoff's lack of urgency is why my dog is gone. She was only 4 and our hearts. It wasn't about cost. We would have mortgaged our house if they said there was a chance. But they said in cases like her's you need to operate within 24 hours. If he had just taken more time to properly assess her. Not given us false hope. It has been a year and my heart is still shattered. read more

As Good as it get's!! I love Dr. Brinkerhoff. Our family has used his services for at least 20 years now and we would want no one else. We have had cows, sheep, goats, deliveries of all 3. Not to mention our 3 horses and our donkey, Eyore, chicken's, cats...many, because we feed strays and have them fixed and last of all our recent addition, Raffle, a male dog from Best Friends. My dog had an emergency over the weekend and Dr. Brinkerhoff was recommended to me. The receptionist I spoke to was amazing as well as the entire staff. They got me in the same day and Dr. Brinkerhoff was incredible. He answered all of my questions and gave me a lot of hope for my pup, which I did not have over the weekend while he was hurt. Everyone there truly cares about the animals they treat, they didn't even charge me for the exam since I had x-rays and a chart from the emergency clinic I went to. They were fine overcharging for quotes when we brought our animals in. My dog was literally crying in the background and they said they could see her in 2 weeks. She died the same day. My fur baby, Lily, became ill on 10/23/22. She stopped eating and drinking. I emailed the clinic on Sunday explaining her decline in health. The clinic called me first thing Monday morning and scheduled her for the following day. A couple hours later I called the clinic back and told them I didn't think Lily would make it that long so they told me to bring her in right away. Dr. McDonald was so gentle and genuinely concerned for Lily. She did blood work, x-rays and a sonogram on Lily over a two week period. They started steroids which seemed to help with her eating and drinking but her health continued to decline. She was diagnosed with primary liver disease which is fatal. The tumors on her liver were bleeding into her abdomen. Unfortunately, I had to make that difficult decision to put my fur baby of 11 years down. Dr. McDonald was not only concerned about Lily, she was genuinely concerned about me. She knows how much I loved Lily and what she meant to me. So If you're looking for people who care about your fur babies then Dixie Veterinary Clinic is where you'll want to bring them. I really don't know how this office doesn't have more reviews. You want to come here! If you want someone honest, great at what he does, and half the price (if not less). I was referred to Dr. Brinkerhoff from a friend who drives out from Las Vegas for his fur babies (dogs). I, myself also live in Las Vegas. My 2 shih-tzus and I have taken the short 2 hour drive twice now and will continue to when an if needed. For the customer service and pricing, this place is second to none. My dogs are older (11 & 13yrs) and it's nice to have a professional that will tell it to me straight and let me know what is absolutely needed, and not take me for everything in my pocket for the unnecessary. Not to mention that a procedure quoted in Las Vegas was between $1,500- $1,800. At Dixie.... $350, possibly up to $500. They don't give you false hope and they won't make a situation sound like it needs to be tended to immediately if it doesn't. read more

I have a conflict in rating this Veterinary Clinic. The care I and my dog was shown for good. Most of the time I had an appointment and all was well or it was walk-in and shots. This last occasion that I needed the vet I was heading to be with my Father. He was dying. I tried several times to get a hold of the front office to make an appointment to no avail so I sent my son with Paisley to have her checked out to see why she was acting so strange. It wasn't an emergency and neither did I nor my son know about and an emergency surcharge of $155.00 would be charged for not having an appointment. I was told the charge was because the Doctor had to drop what he was doing to take care of my dog. That was untrue since my son waited 11/2 hours in the waiting room to see the Doctor. Upon returning home from my fathers' death and funeral I got the Credit Card Bill where I was charged over $200. When I called to see why the charge was so much it was told to me then about the emergency charge. Even though I explained my inability to get ahold of the office to make an appointment. I was told that this fee was standard policy. When I balked and said they couldn't have it both ways, a front office not taking calls and when a customer shows up with their pet they get charged an emergency fee without given the heads up or suggesting that an appointment be made. I asked the front desk to have Dr. Brinkerhoff call me as I would like to discuss this with him. Instead of a phone call, I get a letter with a check for a refund of the emergency fee and told me to get another vet. This office is mismanaged and because of this customers 2 or 4 legged are and will be mistreated. I hate having to find a new vet. On the other hand, I and my dog deserve better service and treatment. This whole incident seems surreal to me. I will be going elsewhere. read more

Took my dog today to get her teeth cleaned. This was our first visit and it surely won't be the last. The facility was very clean. The staff was friendly. They immediately took my dog back and prepped her so she didn't have to sit in a kennel which is a big plus! I was also told I could come get her a little earlier then planned! My dog is 10 years old and hadn't had her teeth cleaned in about 2 years and needed them done bad. The thought of putting my dog under always scared me so I pushed it off as long as I could and now I wish I hadn't. She did great and the staff was informative and took good care of her. It was so busy, the techs didn't even give me instructions, I had to ask when and how long. 4 hours later I went to pick her up and was gine no feed back, nor ever saw the vet. Forward to today, we had an emergency and needed to make an appointment. No one answered their phone and there is no way to leave a message. So we called back 30 minutes later and was quickly put on hold for over 5 minutes. So we hung up and called back 30 minutes later again and was put on hold again, we just hung up. A week ago I did get an answer and the person that answered saif they were just too busy and appointments were three weeks out and recomended we go somewhere else. I give up! read more

I have to share my experience with Dr. Craig Brinkerhoff at Dixie Vet. My Mother had a eight year old German Shepherd, Sophie that Dr. Brinkerhoff had seen off and on for two years. I made an appointment to take Sophie in over a month ago because we were concerned that her hip dysplasia was getting worse. Dr. Brinkerhoff said no to an X-ray and just prescribed two medications for it. Fast forward to Monday, 5/4/20, I called Dixie Vet and said that we had an emergency with Sophie - She had done something to one of her hind legs, she was in excruciating pain and wasn't able to walk to all. I was told that they were going to consult with Dr. Brinkerhoff and would get back to me. When I received the call back I was told that Dr. Brinkerhoff was going to prescribe more medications! I said absolutely not she needs to be seen now and was told that I couldn't bring her in until the next morning. Fortunately, I was able to get into a wonderful veterinarian in Cedar City. After doing an X-ray, it was determined that the Sophie had broken her leg so severely, due to bone cancer and the leg would need to be amputated. After consulting with the Veterinarian it was decided we needed to put hedown! I'm writing this because I feel the way Dr. Brinkerhoff handled our situation was very unprofessional and uncaring. If we had been able to come into Dixie Vet inside of having to travel almost an hour to Cedar City it would have saved Sophie unnecessary enduring pain and the stress my Mother had to endure! I can't help but wonder if Dr. Brinkerhoff would have done an X-ray a month ago if this situation would have been different. read more

The best vet....ever! I highly recommend Dixie Veterinary Clinic to anyone/everyone! When my dog tore her ACL, I found that I couldn't afford the surgery in my hometown. My friend that lives in St. George referred me to Dixie Vet Clinic. My first contact was with Brandy, the friendliest receptionist I've ever had the pleasure of talking with! I don't think I could have asked for a better experience. I was stressed out enough with the dog needing surgery, so dealing with the VERY friendly staff was a great comfort. Brandy was great and meeting with the Dr. Brinkerhoff upon my arrival was awesome. They called me later in the day to let me know my dog was out of surgery, and even let me come down and visit with her before they closed (she had to spend the night at their clinic and I was having anxiety issues, being separated from my baby!). I picked her up the next morning and spoke at length with the vet about what was done and my dog's post-op care. The doctor was VERY knowledgeable and friendl and I don't think I've been so impressed with a veterinarian since my days on the horse farm. I had the genuine feeling that they really did care about my dog and they really understood my concern. While it may be a 2-hour drive from my house, I am seriously considering Dixie Vet Clinic for my regular veterinarian for both of my dogs. read more

I love Washington family vet. I have gotten my dogs and cats fixed, gotten shots, and come here every time they are sick. They have amazing staff who are all very professional and very well trained. They also have reasonable prices for how nice it is inside and for the procedures they do. My pets have been here since they were all born and will continue to go here for the rest of their lifetime. I first took both my dogs here on 12-16-16. Having moved from another state I was told by the staff that they would contact our previous veterinarian & have their records faxed. As one of my dogs has severe allergies we have used this clinic six times & I have spent over $700. according to my records. I made a grooming appointment today & of course they needed to contact the veterinary clinic for shot records. Imagine my surprise when the groomer was told they had no records for either dog. I was sure that was a mistake so I just called there as well. I was told they had no records!!!! WOW! I really like Dr. Rebecca Thode, but needless to say we will be going elsewhere. I think this is what happens when you are too busy to handle the volume of patients. read more

He was very healthy, vibrant and full of life when we brought him in. One week later he was dead! Dixie could not explain why and they did not have a formal procedure for dental work. Sad! I've been using them for years and the Dr's are very nice and do the job well. They give all the options and the place is very clean. I'd tell anyone to take their dog or cat here. The only thing I can say I don't like is the girls at the front desk aren't very nice and they don't seem to LIKE the animals or care how things turn out. But perhaps they just don't get attached. But when I put my dog to sleep it would have been nice to feel they weren't put out that I had to stop crying before I could pay the bill. read more
